>(sigma)
What did Capcom mean by this?
>(((Sigma)))
Good lord, this actually makes sense. (((Sigma))) and his (((Mavericks))) keep society in a constant state of chaos, even pretty much destroy the planet, all because they want a Utopia for only (((them))), with humans either exterminated or as (((their))) eternal slaves.
Useless trivia: Megaman X is always called X in japanese, never Rockman.

has there ever been a more nostalgia-dependent game?
Has there ever been a bigger faggot?

>Ice Climber
>Balloon Fight
>Donkey Kong Classics
>Rad Racer
>Super Mario Bros. 2

Thanks for you input
God, I hate the fact that this is a console game. Just imagine what could've been possible if it was for PC.
>Just imagine what could've been possible if it was for PC.
You mean PCu-cks not playing it and playing CS:GO and DOTA 2 all the time?
rly maks yuo thinkc
why do pc gamers always beg for ports?
>>3846347
there be raw mouse input+kb hacks. Look up 1964 Carnivorous Edition.
So I decided I want to play this game.
What's the best way to go about it?
1) Emulate PS1 version?
2) Get the Steam version?
For each case, is there any fan-made enhancement for the game (HD textures, models, gameplay balance?
>>3846294
I've played on the original hardware, on emulator on PC, and the PC version.. but years ago. I remember that the PC version has some patches that have to do with graphics enhancements and other utilities like save game editors, midi extractors, among some other stuff.
If I were you and 1st time playing I'd do a vanilla PS1 emulated on PC on mednafen.

Here's a tip: Enemy level scale with your level, but since the best way to gain stat by junctioning magic (which you have to draw from enemies since they are limited), you'll end up playing cards most of the time since it is the only possible way to permanently increase a character's stat.
>>3846294
If a game is available on Steam I will buy it. It encourages more steam ports.
I want FFT and Tactics Ogre on there.
What are some shmups with minor RPG elements/shops/more involved ship upgrade choices? I already played Tyrian, Raptor, Interpose, Stargunner, Seek and Destroy, and Jets'n'Guns.
>>3845864
there's sort of a shop in gun-nac
>>3845864
No idea.
Well, you can alwayswait for J'n'G 2 to come out. They finally started working on it few months back.
>>3845864
Definitely X-Out on Amiga, not a great shmup (a western one lol) but it has interesting ideas

Do you think it's still good, or does the box contain the corpses of a thousand mealmoths?
This cereal was really bad.
It was just Lucky Charms.

the fuck did you just insinuate about lucky charms
Are there any other computer games that made use of the keyboard lights for status or gimmicks like Cotton x68000? I don't remember ever seeing this on a PC
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YzM6STCiCM
>>3845397
It's impossible since most operating systems don't let you have that much low level access to the hardware to control things such as keyboard lights, that being said it is a cool gimmick
>>3845416
Yeah.
I was messing around with trying to play sounds through the mobo speaker, but windows 7, 8, and 10 won't let you make hardware calls to it. Instead it just plays the alert tone though my headphones.
>>3845416
You can turn all the PC light functions on or off through software, in dos at least.
>>3845429
I had a driver to use PC Speaker for audio in Win 3.1 pic related. Windows doesn't allow direct hardware access anymore, but it used to.

Why did they think that being constantly interrupted by dozen of random encounters would be fun? I really can't stand this game mechanic.
Why the chrono trigger version of this, more soft and enjoyable has never taken hold? Why this random encounter garbage began more popular?
They tried to copy Wizardry where you get random encounters upon entering a room and once in a while when walking around.
DQ didn't implement rooms so they only popped up while walking around.
DQ was immensely successful so nearly everybody went on to copy it and continues to take hints from there.
>>3845051
Final Fantasy 2 kinda did it with rooms that put you in the middle and had an obscene encounter rate.
>why randoms
because d&d
Does anyone here have an MT-32?
Is it worth getting for my DOS PC?
From what I've heard online it sounds amazing but I'd like input from an actual owner.
Cheers.
Not OP, but on the subject, is there any way to emulate the MT-32 or any other synth in DOSBox, besides AdLib?
>>3844018
I think MUNT can do it.
>>3843979
I have one and they are definitely worth it.
I really get a kick out of hearing MT-32 music come out of those old games, sounds really good.
Sup, fuck-o's.
Im helping a friend clean out his house and we found an NES Action Set in an old room, in-box with all the components, styrofoam, leaflets, etc. Pics upon request.
What's it worth? Looking around the internet is hard to get a good price estimate.
Thanks.
That is a rare Nintendo DS-001. It's one of the first consoles off of the assembly line and worth upwards of $10,000 USD.

It's worth a shitload of fun as fuck evenings.

Is it cheese to use the holy water?
When I was a kid I thought it was the worst subweapon. Stunlocking does take technique so it's not cheese exactly but they definitely made it better in the first game than maybe they meant to in hindsight
holy water is tournament legal

No?

I wish Nintendo consoles had boot screens. It's amazing how much Sony did so much right their very first go with the PSX

Has anyone here ever actually seen a battery-backed NES game's internal battery run out?
I have a bunch of carts with their original batteries, and all of them save just fine. It's rather impressive, considering many of them are going on 30 years. How long do you think they can last?
Have they been stored somewhere very cold IME that extends the life of lithiums
I've been reading magazines of the time and they often advertised these as lasting 5 years.
>>3842608
Really?
It's rated for more like 15-20 years (without a RTC).
