The "intended" hookups are RF and composite in the 80s and 90s because this is what 95% of households used for hookups.

Most people didn't have shit like s-video and RGB till the 2000s unless you were in a rich family, shit was not cheap.

Of course the devs are going to target the way that the vast majority are going to use. But this is /vr/ and people are too fucking stupid to take the context of the time the shit was manufactured for in to account.

Breath of Fire III is probably actually a better overall experience as a game than Chrono Trigger.

The answer to your question is hype/marketing. Half of the people who call Chrono Trigger one of the greatest games of all time or Ocarina of Time or whatever probably haven't even played them they're just parroting other people responses.

It's the exact same thing as people who say Citizen Kane is the greatest movie of time without seeing it just because they want to look like cinephiles

"JRPG" is an incredibly broad an basically meaningless term. A lot of my favourite games are JRPGs but they're good for different reasons. For example, Fire Emblem 5 is good because of level design that encourages varied tactics. Romancing SaGa 2 is good because of exploration/adventure and the tactics are mostly about building a team for each boss fight. Ys games are good because of boss fights that test your reactions. Dungeon crawlers are good if they have dungeons to crawl and are well balanced or something like that. etc.
You might as well ask what makes a good game in general because JRPGs can be basically anything they want to be.

Marketing. And not just because people haven't played them, it's that people are influenced by what they're told about the game. If someone played Chrono Trigger without knowing that it's considered to be a masterpiece they would be far more likely to criticize it for having boring as fuck gameplay, but people are hesitant to do so when their opinions conflict with the common consensus.

They introduced all the important characters and locations.

Warcraft 2 is by far the best, though.

The canon ending of WC1 is the one where Orcs win.

There's a ton of 500MB+ soundfonts out there, though they aimed more at composers than gamers. I usually use Fluid, which is around 100MB.

Also, how are the two carts 400 in 1 and 500 in 1? I was looking through the 400 in 1 reviews and it seems mostly shit tier pirate/chinese knock offs.

The list on the 500 in 1 looks better but it's seems to be missing mega man games amongst a few others. Do you have a recommendation for famicom multicarts?

KDL is too short to be worth a buy, literally only four stages (and then again for hard mode). You're better off borrowing it or emulating it or something.

KDL2 is a much fuller experience and worth getting.

I'd strongly recommend the Mario's Picross games, they're really fun if you end up liking Picross. Here's some other favorites:

Rarity I guess. it's not a fantastic port but it is interesting.

There are a few of these odd choice items that are just ok-good games but super pricey. one of the Bratz games on gamecube was worth upwards of £100 at one point, no idea how or why but it happened.

I had it because it's what we played things in back then, simple as. Multiplayer was easier too. Nowadays I would only consider it on the pc

we all probably know them but sin and punishment. There's really not much to discover on the N64, there's a handful of Japanese games that didn't make it out West that are good, and I don't think any games got a PAL release that didn't see American releases except maybe some football games.
