Normies don't care
What are some great RPG's for the NES/Famicom that aren't the games listed here:
Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy III
Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem Gaiden
Crystalis
I would have the Dragon Quest games here, but I think the snes Rmemakes of 1,2 and 3 are better than there NES counterparts. I don't really enjoy Final Fantasy II, so it's not here either. So any recommendations?
Dragon Quest 4 (my favorite NES game, period)
Faxanadu
Willow
Mother
>>4216150
Metal Max
Monster Maker
Dragon Quest IV
Sweet Home
Radia Senki
Lagrange Point
Dream Master (only sort of an rpg)
Faria
Anybody remember this Sonic fighting game at the arcades? I never hear it brought up ever when people talk about Sonic games.
I don't know where i'm going with this thread, I just felt like mentioning it.
It's just Virtua Fighter with Sanic characters. The Honey The Cat was the best thing to come out of this.
I don't like it, seeing Sanic beating the crap out of Amy and Tails always seemed out of character to me. At least Smash Bros had the toys/trophies as an excuse.
I can't stand the ring sound effect every time you hit someone. Absolute ear rape.
>get SM
>this happens
>apparently it's normal and it depends on the game
>using s-video and rgb makes it more noticeable
>turn it off and play it on an emulator
You should respect the developer's intentions.

>this happens
What happens? Looks normal to me aside from really washed out looking colors.

the giant vertical line in the middle that all snes apparently have.
does anyone remembers the name of a mario-party-like looney tunes game?

tiny toon adventures on SNES has all those minigames in it

Tiny Toon Adventures Wacky Sports Challenge
Yes I did beat a rental of this back in the day. Good game but too many button mashing minigames and too retarded opponent AI.

Looks like a technos title.

Scored an Atari 7800 super fucking cheap, because it wouldn't turn on. Got it home, opened it up, and there was a cold solder joint on the main power supply transistor. Hit that, and boom, fixed. Took 15 minutes, tops.
Went to the local used game shop today to get some carts to include in the re-sale, and the guy said that doing an AV mod wasn't too bright anymore because new TV's are HDMI or RF only anymore. No more composite inputs at all. He said I shouldn't bother with doing the mod, as it's a waste of time.
Is the guy trying to blow smoke up my ass, or is this a legit thing? I've seen on eGAY many, many 7800's go for well over $150 with the mod.
So, who is right? Do the mod, or fuck it, sell as is?
>>4215660
You can grab the unmodded console and shove it up your ass until you cum pixelated squirts.
Any nigger using rf and especially any nigger using a modern TV isn't gonna give a fuck about an Atari 7800
I'm pretty sure they all still have composite, he's either conning you or he's a dumbfuck.
Oh, and you're misusing the phrase "blow smoke up my ass".
AW NAW THE NARC, MAN!

Has the trilogy stood the test of time in your opinion?
No, too many escort segments and the first person aiming is horrible.

>REEEE GAMES DON'T AGE
One thing is clear: tazing peeps until they combust will -never- get old.
Well I liked it back then and I like it now too because I'm not a retard.
>Going to Japan with my wife's family.
>Her brother has Third Strike on the PS2
>I have the Dream Cast version.
Which one is better? I've read the Dream Cast port has wonky hit detection, but I never noticed in all my years playing.
>>4215051
I don't have experience but the ps2 version of MvC2 was prone to glitches and frame drops while the Dreamcast port is nearly arcade perfect.
For Third Strike everyone just uses the digital ps3/xbox360 version but if you want a physical copy my guess is Dreamcast as it just is better on arcade ports it seems.
Why the fuck mention the trip to japan?
What is the best way to play these games right now?
>>4215004
dosbox.
For Daggerfall, the one at the top of this list that was updated recently. Has a ton of bugfix patches and other cool shit.
http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files
For Arena, just install with Dosbox and edit the cycles so it doesn't run like shit.
>>4215439
That same site has Arena pre-configured as well.
Just ended Beneath a Steel Sky and it was meh. I wanted a good story in some post-apo/cyberpunk in dystopian city and I've got walking on upper class district without any climate. Are there any good point & click games in setting like this?
Sorry you didn't like it, I thought it was decent.
>>4214970
Yes. Not a point & click thought, but this is the closest Japan has to p&c
>>4214970
Omikron, its 3D but its pretty similar to 2D adventure point and click games at times.
I don't post on /vr/ much, so please excuse me if this is common knowledge; if it is we can just discuss our experiences.
I just wanted to warn you all about aftermarket faceplates and shells for things. Modding your console is very fun, and I recently got into doing it for the PSP (I wanted a retro looking, clear shell; I know the PSP isn't retro but I figure some of you have considered modding older consoles and these will definitely require after market parts).
I didn't skimp out on the price and tried to get a nice looking shell off eBay but it still wouldn't fit properly. On the PSP 1000, the joystick is very pressure and weight sensitive because the contact with the motherboard is a silicon strip, so if things don't fit even the slightest it can and does cause the joystick to drift. It took me a lot of trial and error to realise this, and I even got replacement contacts/joysticks in vain. I ended up just going back to the market shell even though it's a bit rough round the edges/worse for wear from 8 years of use.
I'm very disappointed but at least I came away from it knowing how the guts of the console works and maybe if I feel like shelling out another 30 bucks I can try a different seller.
Have any of you guys ever successfully modded something? I've always wanted to do those flashy LED modifications to things, even if it is just a light.
>>4214968
cool blog. not. I've modded tons of shit but never riced anything because I'm not a faggot.
Please recommend any good and fun puzzle games. I'm not too picky with the console either.
>pic unrelated
Puyo Puyo is a good time any way you slice it, even if Dr. Robotnik or Kirby's serving it up.
Lufia 2. It pretends to be a JRPG, but trust me, it's a puzzle game.
Post games you like from systems you generally dislike or are indifferent to it's library and explain what you like about it. Not to be negative, I still like some N64 games but there's only a select few I enjoy from it. S&P is fun, it's not too difficult but I love it for its cheesy dialogue, pace and fun stages. Fun gameplay as well, i like focusing on shooting targets while moving the character at the same time. Iris!!!! (that's the death sound effect by the way, lol)
>>4214897
What about mischief makers or starfox 64 or that kirby game
n64 was pretty alright I'm not sure that there's any console I outright dislike or am even indifferent to except for ones I've never played
>>4214910
i find crystal shards to be mediocre, its still a fine game though. never enjoyed mischief maker (maybe because ive never played it on original hardware). i've been meaning to play starfox 64
>systems you generally dislike
How can you dislike a system? If it has a large library of decent games I don't see how this is an issue
Is there an N64 emulator with a crt filter?
>Retroarch
>N64 Core
>Analog Shader Pack
That should do it.
