Is there one of these for /vr/? Can we make one?

Games or systems?

Unpaid advertising for games you really like is just what /v/ and /vr/ is entirely about.
QTDDTOT: H2O edition
Why is everything in retro game stores in such shit condition (cartridges, controllers, etc)? Where do online sellers find the things in good condition?
The best ones have a storefront where they buy games from people who have no sense of their value
What's the best way to get 240 test suit on my CRT
Where else can I buy games besides eBay and Craigslist?
We all know that Kwirk is a tomato with sunglasses BUT in some levels you also play as his buddy who clearly isn't a tomato but the question is: WHAT THE HELL IS HE? WHAT IS KWIRK'S BUDDY? I seriously can't tell and neither can Google search.
I always just assumed they were malformed tomatoes. (there's a third buddy in the late stages)
IT'S TOMATO.
TOE MAY TOE
GET IT RIGHT MISTER BIG.

Uhhh... nobody here misspelled it.
The ~most~ obscure versions of each /vr/ console
These are very common though as they were sold at major department stores. Most obscure is probably pic related for GB.

>tommy hilfiger gbc
Was the mark-up on it 500% like his clothes?
>"WE ARE THE PREMIER RETRO VIDEO GAME MARKET NOW"
>GameStop to close 100+ stores
what happens to the unsold vidya?
>>3884307
>donated to goodwill and similar stores
>sent to other gamestops
>sent to the dump
the retro vidya was always online only, right?
I kinda remember reading that and then not giving a fuck about it anymore.
Who would win?

Why weren't THESE the polls we got in the gamefaqs character battles? It was always shit we saw a thousand times before like Earthworm Jim vs Rayman, or Cloud vs. Link

Cool Spot, this isn't even a discussion.
I mean look at that thing: a transgender throwing pepsi cans?
I want to get into Sonic but don't know where to start?
Sonic 1, which also happens to be the best one.

Ok, thanks. How many coins equals a bonus life?

I remember reading about this game back in the day. How is it? Is it a fair challenge or does it have insane difficulty curve?
Which PD is that? I never knew there was one in English.

The one published for DOS in 1995 by MegaTech Software. Don't know which entry in the series would that be.
Power DoLLS is a generally solid series of J-PC wargames, buoyed by its glamorous girls. Kogado Soft made some other cool simulation games in that period, like Schwarzschild (high sci-fi fleet warfare + grand strategy) and Mars Project (strategic Sim-game but on Mars).

They localized the very first PD.
I'll start
ITT: things hipsters think were popular way back when, but nobody ever saw.

That cash register plays games too? I used to play a super stripped down port of Doom on my great grandfather's abacus, it was pretty epic.
>>3883468
That is one overly-bulky calculator. I bet it cost $4500 back in the day too.
What made Gauntlet Legends and it's expansion so fucking perfect?

>What made Gauntlet Legends and it's expansion so fucking perfect?
Senseless hack-and-slash is always fun, especially with flamboyant level designs and multiplayer capability.
>>3883367
i played this at my arcade the other day and found it really boring and repetitive after the first level or two
>>3883427
what arcade would this be? what are the notable games they have?
Superior sequels that aren't as beloved/discussed as much as the prequels
>>3883218Impressive Snake
Never understood the hate.
>>3883218
It's not superior. They just made it overly easy.
Haven't seen one of these in a while.
Post your collections, memories, favourite games, etc.
I always see people talking positively about the c64.
Is it worth emulating or should I try to find a real one?
My parents bought a Commodore 64 in the late 90, I think they did it by mistake thinking it was a machine they could use for getting on the internet. Or maybe it was a gift. I tried playing some games on it but they were so bad/outdated/obtuse that I had little interest in them. They were Accolade Comics, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and some Ninja Turtles game. It basically sat in the corner of the dining room for 5 years collecting dust and bird shit (birdcage was kept next to it). Anyway that's my Commodore story.

Part of what made is so special was owning one at the time. Learning the basics of programming, pirating/downloading games via the radio, fucking about with making your own trash, the small but tight knit indie scene that grew around it, etc. all made it feel really unique to grow up with.
I think it's still a very interesting piece of tech and one that can be really fun to get into today to mess around with, but if you're just gonna emulate it then it has few exclusives worth playing by this point due to all the ports and multiplats are nearly always better on another platform.
Am I the only one here who is not a nostalgiafag?
Video games are a hobby I mostly picked up as an adult and lots of the stuff that is talked about here is new to me.
I'm a nostalgia fag, and not ashamed to admit it when it comes to my favorite retro games.
But it's cool you can, as someone who did not play the games at release, have an active interest in them.
It's fine if you're not. I think people would judge you more harshly for BEING a nostalgiafag.
I didn't play Megaman Legends until a year ago and I adored it. People hear that and will be tempted to try the game out themselves. IF, however, I said I played it when I was a kid and loved it people would doubt it being very good at all since I was just a dumb kid back then.
>>3883080
I've been playing video games for 45 years now and I don't think I am either
I just play games I like, and they often happen to be older ones
Not going to mention the e-celeb,not too hard to find outbut recently one of the big ones was accused of selling bootlegs.
Is there a website or other resources people can refer to to help distinguish a real from a fake?
Is that a pokemon card or what
do you want to give more infomation? also google is your friend.
>>3883059
Yeah. This is supposedly a misprint where they just didn't fucking print anything on it.
Holy hell, how short is this game? I probably played through this in an hour.
>>3882989
Not as short as the Master System version.
Did you get all the rubies?
Also, yeah, welcome to /vr/, most action games can be beaten un an hour or so. No tutorials or FMVs to fill up the playtime.
>>3883009
>Did you get all the rubies?
No, I didn't even know that you 'had' to collect them. I thought they were like the rings in Sonic games.
I had this game since I was a child but never played it through until now, frustrating at times but surprisingly short.
