>emulating SNES games
>have to press START like 10 times to finally start the game
>have to press START for every single company logo that appears at startup
>have to go through unskippable crap like intros, animations, dialog etc
>even when I can skip the crap with START I still have to wait for some pointless transition animation/jingle to finish
>when I die I have to wait for some stupid jingle to finish till I can restart
What kind of brain damaged fucktards programmed these games?
>>3888534
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?
Savestates exist for a reason.
>>3888534
>playing modern PS4 game
>want to start game but can't
>PRESENTED BY UBISOFT
>POWERED BY UNREAL
>pressing buttons doesn't do anything
>after about 10 minutes finally arrive at start menu
snes isn't that bad mate
looking into pc-98 games, already thinking of trying YU-NO among others
Night Slave
Power DoLLs series
Marble Cooking
Farland Story (Somehow this got a fan translation)
Off the top of my head
>>3888035
Try policenauts, tōhō serie, cosmology of kyoto and Rance serie
EVO just received a very nice fan translation not too long ago.
Although it's all in japanese, you have the better version of Shiryu Sensen: War of the Dead Part 2 as well (action-horror game). Only the MSX version is translated, and that is beyond choppy (you move as fast as your bullets).
Do you think people have found everything in this game, or are there still secrets to be found?
An army of concentrated autism has been dissecting this game for almost 20 years. It's all been found.

This
I found the Triforce not too long ago.
I'll post the video after I get out of the shower.
>"dude just get a CRT bro"
>go on craigslist
>find CRT
>buy it for 20 dollars
>bring it home and turn it on
>.....EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Yeah, the chances of you finding a CRT in 2017 without coil whine is slim to fucking none. That shit is annoying.
>>3887946
Why didn't you ask to test it out first?
>>3887946
Just turn the volume up louder
>>3887957
I did but it was pretty noisy in the place that I bought it so I couldn't tell, and it was kinda sketch so I just wanted to buy it and gtfo
Everquest / Project 1999 / Progression servers / Live.
Anyone still play? 18 years old and still going strong with tens of thousands of players. Recently started on p1999 and regressed back into my high school years of spending 18 hour sessions lost in another world poop socking camps. There is a new official PoP-locked progression server (Agnarr) opening soon which has me hard as a rock.
Nothing ever will come that close to the terror that is losing your corpse in the bottom of Seblilis with no friends to drag it out, being forced to watch your cobalt rot. Or fucking up breaking into fear, or the open world raid drama (it's never not entertaining when 30+ nerds will stare at a wall for 15 hours). One of the last MMORPG's where people actually needed to be social and rely on each other to function as their cog in the group machine.
I've been trying to install this fucking gAme with the isos and tools but now p99 forums say I should download daemon tools which gave my friend malware. What the fuck

Windows 10 has native mounting for ISOs.
Windows 7 you should use Wincdemu
Titanium client off TPB worked fine for me. Just remember to download the updated spell files off the forums.
60 iksar warlord here.
No epix
Besides having the actual Vectrex layers is there anything else you can use a layout? Would be nice if you can use other colored layers
You can print your own using transparencies then painting the opaque parts white then laminating them. Still ends up pretty expensive though.
>>3888660
But you couldn't just use some other material?
>>3888692
You can do whatever you want but if you don't use transparencies you won't be able to see the screen so there doesn't seem like there would be much point.
Which one is superior?
>>3887294
graphics: hyperstone heist
gameplay: turtles in time
music: don't remember. probably turtles in time.
>>3887294
Both are good in their own right faggot. Quit trying to make everything black and white.
Only a true contrarian would say HH is better than TiT or the arcade.
Are there similar images for dreamcast, psx etc as the attached?

I know this is subjective, but what are some overlooked platforming series, preferably for predominantly non-Nintendo consoles? For example:
>Wonder Boy
>Adventure Island
>Commander Keen
>non-Nintendo consoles
>Commander Keen
The closest Keen has to a console is the GBC.
>>3886743
I didn't mean consoles that weren't Nintendo, I meant platforms that weren't Nintendo consoles. So DOS counts.
Also:
>Alex Kidd
Amiga
> Superfrog
> Brian The Lion
> Woody's World
> Quik The Thunder Rabbit
> Traps n Treasures
Can we have a thread for remembering games we forgot the title of?
Trying to remember a famicom game, never released outside of Japan. You make your character and have three pieces to choose for, head, body, and legs. Each one gives multiole options and have different effects based on your choices. The levels are connected but you can also navigate an overworld. The game is incredibly bright and silly in tone. I believe there was a level made out of candy.
Anyone know what I'm thinking of?
>>3886554
Cocoron
>>3886560
Thank you anon, appreciate it greatly.
theres this SNES or super famicom game that I played many years ago that I can't seem to find on search engines only by description. Its an rpg, dont remember if it was in japanese or english but it was in 1st-person like wizardry and such games. Im fairly certain it was set in standard medieval fantasy setting.
The only vivid memory I have is that early on you meet some enemy that Ive tried drawing in pic related. It could be either a zombie or an old man but it was gray, it has two frames where its mouth flaps open and closed and he swings up and down what could either be a cane or a stick or something.
Interface could be wrong. Please help me recall what game is this
Thoughts?
Shill elsewhere.

My husband hated it.
Retrousb avs. Really like mine.
PSP 3000 vs PS Vita
Which is better for emulation? Which is easier to emulate on?
>>3886059
Vita emulators are a mixed bag but that dpad is the best
>>3886059
The actual Vita device is better, so currently I just use adrenaline on it.
Native Vita emulation is rough as fuck right now, and needs some time. PSP is still king.
>>3886440
Which has the least bugs, the more compatable working time for the emulators?
For $100 or even $200, I want near perfect emulation on the main retro systems.
Played any of IF's early games?
>>3885746
Saw a gameplay video of this. Never liked text based adventure games/VNs but it looked genuinely interesting. Sadly something that would never get an actual translation, not even sure if even a Japanese rom was released publicly.
>>3885746
what the fuck am I looking at
Here's Spectral Force.
The Game Boy had such a diverse library for a handheld, but what are some notable party games for the platform?
>>3885260
Party? You mean like Mario Party?
>>3885264
>You mean like Mario Party?
It doesn't necessarily have to be a collection of mini-games. Just anything with fun and fast-paced multiplayer, like Bomberman or Worms.
>>3885276
Well, it's obviously a niche poorly fit for GB. You need 2–4 carts and a link cable. That'd look more like a gathering of nerds than a party
Even with emulation, I feel like some games from say the NES or SNES era will be forgotten entirely. And gradually that will expand to N64/PS1, PS2/GCN, etc. Some games people wouldn't play even for free due to the time cost not being worth it.
Nothing is meant to last forever, and as with any periods of time only relatively small snapshots are carried in the collective consensus.
Want an example?
Look at the literary explosion in the 1940s-50s. The amount of books published in those decades were astronomical in the post war environment. But how many of those books are remembered. Most all are forgotten, regardless of quality.
You can't carry everything with you forward, even as a collective. We're meant to forget. And thats okay.
>>3885137
At last I truly see.
Some games will be forgotten because normies, that are now discovering emulation, are massive nostalgia retards who just want to play the same thing they played 20 years ago again and again.
They don't want to discover new games. They just want the same shit or indie clones of the same shit.
Nostalgia is what will destroy gaming.
