Anyone remember this gem? I got it off of Steam, because my disc cracked years ago, and I am playing the shit out of it. The Lords Of Magic thread reminded me of it.
Favorite maps? Units?

Were I the only one?
>>4218128
I played it, but it's been so long I barely remember the mechanics. Enjoyed it while I did though. I enjoyed the castle battles a lot.
>>4218128
I've never heard of this before, looks cool as fuck. What exactly does the gameplay consist of?
was this game any good?
i played it all the time when i was 6 or 7 and i never could find out the name until today
>>4217467
what you call play was probably just wandering around levels because you were too stupid to know what to do
>>4217493
i know this but as a kid it looked awesome and i always wanted to go back and play it but i had no idea what it was called
also maybe it wasnt this one but another game in the franchise as the mechas look exactly like i remember them but not the map
>>4217498
map? there's more than one level you know. and also differences in quality depending what you use to render the game.

What is the most addictive game you've ever played?
Any of the NES Dragon Quests, Salamander, Berzerk. SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters is also up there.
>>4217007
Your pic related actually, i managed to get 293 cards in around 80 hours but in the Capcom version.
>>4217007
Don't play fighters vs the CPU you fucking scrub or I'll kick your teeth in.
ITT based American characters
*honk honk*
We're derailing this thread!
Is it as good as they say?

as good as they say?
>>4216954
It's 7/10, 8/10 if you like these kinds of games.
>>4216954
If you're playing for the 80s Japan kung fu movie atmosphere you'll have a blast. If you're playing for gameplay you'll grow bored of it before you get to the first gang fight.
Is there a way to hook up a Raspberry Pi 3 to a CRT via S-Video to play retro games? I know there's a way to do it with composite in the 3.5mm jack.

Thanks but those are a bit expensive. Is that the only way to do it?
Seems the best option is to use the HDMI and convert that to VGA and then hook it up to an old computer monitor.
If this game starred DK with Dixie instead of Kiddy, this would've been regarded as the best entry
You know its true
Yeah, maybe. It is an undeniable truth that Kiddie Kong sucks.
Kiddy sucks but Donkey is the worst character to play as in the whole trilogy.
Seriously, the difference in speed and handling between Donkey and every other character is mind boggling.
Maybe a non-shit Donkey would be better than Kiddy, but if it's a choice between him and DKC1 Donkey then I'm picking Kiddy every time.
I don't know, there's something adventurous about pirate levels and entering foggy forests. DKC3 has you playing around sawmills, cabins and more of the same from DKC1 (water, icy terrain).
For some reason as a kid I thought Link's hair was a big floppy nose sticking out from under his hat and that the face under his hair was a beard.
I'd blame Lost Vikings if I hadn't played that after LTTP.
I still have no idea what's going on with Arek the Absolute's sprite in Lufia 2.

You're a Wizard, Harry
1. Pick a game posted in this thread
2. Try to beat in a day / 1 sitting
3. Post results in thread
4. Feel a sense of accomplishment in your underwhelming life/vg/ thread failed
to get anyone started I recommend these games, gonna try a few of them myself
>>4215708
Have at it. I freely admit, I can't beat it legit withour AR codes. There is a continue cheat which I will allow for a legit play through. If you are a madman, just run with your 2 extra lives.
Atari, Bally, Midway, Williams, all American companies.
So how did the Japanese come to dominate the video game industry?
>>4214634
>Japanese come to dominate the video game industry
When the FUCK did that ever happen? Sure Nintendo, Capcom and Konami were huge but they always had American subsidiaries that developed their own sometimes better games.
Sega of America always was the better side of the company while their Japanese counterpart constantly shot themselves in the foot.
Jap games never even mattered all that much.
>>4214648
Namco, Data East, SNK
Joust, Ms Pacman, Satan's Hollow, Defender, Rampage, NARC, Berzerk, Robotron, Total Carnage, Mortal Kombat, NBA JAM, San Francisco Rush, Hydro Thunder, were all huge hits and excellent arcade games.
>Japs dominating
Said no one, ever. Fucking weeabos.
Minimalist, clean, understated /vr/ covers.
It's a bit of a meme game, but that box is pretty sweet.
um wtf is no one talking about the neosd? Isn't a flash cart for neogeo a huge deal?
>I want to save space and money
said no AES owner ever
>>4211616
um what?
>>4211626
The whole point of playing and collecting Neo Geo games is the ownership of the hardware...
If you're chimp out and use petty corner-cutting measures, you could just emulate since the dawn of time. That's why nobody's talking about it.
What is the best job/class system in any RPG?
I like FF5s and FF:T. Third edition D&D has a good one but I don't know if like Baldur's Gate even begins to accurately represent it or maybe NWN? Is that even retro?
>>4211286
the Vandalier class of Vandal hearts
>>4211408
>Third edition D&D has a good one but I don't know if like Baldur's Gate even begins to accurately represent it
That's because Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale were 2E. Icewind Dale 2, Temple of Elemental Evil and Neverwinter Nights were 3.0, with Neverwinter Nights 2 being the only D&D game using 3.5.
ITT: we appreciate the Commodore Amiga.
Remember, only Amiga makes it possible

>over 12 hours later
>nothing
ahahah nobody appreciates that piece of shit
I think you an I were probably the only ones here old enough to have play this thing. I remember being about 4 or 5 at the time, my dad showing me how to play Dungeon Master and Frontier Elite II. I still have the system somewhere up in my attic. What were some of the games you played?
/vr/ hates the amiga for having mediocre platformers but loves fucking commander keen
We haven't had one of these threads in a while, let's do it.
Welcome to the Retro Game Gauntlet.
Start at NES, and work through in the following order:
NES
SNES
GB/GBC
Megadrive/Genesis
Turbografx16
DOS
NeoGeo
GBA
Commodore 64
Playstation 1
You have three days to complete the game without assistance (each game gets three days, though RPGs are allowed a week due to length).
Select your system here:
http://s3kr.it/gauntlet.html
You can also do it manually if you don't trust the random number generator:
http://s3kr.it/systems/
Rules:
1) Savestates are allowed ONLY for the purpose of taking screenshots and ONLY if your emulator/game in question does not have a pause function.
2) Rerolls are allowed under the following conditions:
-The game you get requires some sort of hardware functionality that cannot be accurately emulated to complete (eg, Boktai)
-The game would otherwise require cheats, hacks, or alteration of the software to complete due to a bug (eg, Cheetahmen II)
For games that have a high score or no end, the rule is
>if no high score has been established, set a goal and beat it
>if you.re playing something another anon already has a high score on, beat their high score
>if you are playing extended rpgs/pokemon/whatever you get a week (Depending on the game: needs to be asked in thread)
AND BRING ME SCREENSHOTS PARKER
