Is anyone here as much of a faggot as I am?

Kirby 30th Anniversary collection has 5 kirby games, but I would rather own each of them on whichever platform they were released on. To put it bluntly, I would rather own 5 things instead of 1.

Sonic Mega Collection has the following:

>Sonic
>Sonic 2
>Sonic 3
>Sonic & Knuckles
>Sonic 3D Blast
>Sonic Spinball

But I would rather own Sonic 1, 2, 3, Knuckles and Spinball on Genesis and 3D Blast on Saturn than to have a collection that contains all of them.

This applies to modern gen as well, which I won't mention, but current gen will receive ports of last gen titles that are collections, but I avoid them in favour of getting the last gen titles individually. However, if they are offered in current gen as standalone only, I gladly buy it and sell off the last gen redundancy.

Only if you are buying the most popular titles. There are tons of games nobody wants that go for $20 or less. And you can sometimes get in contact with old arcade operators and get tons of PCBs for $5 each.

Is it a money pit? Not really. You can buy a complete supergun for less than $300. That's about the price of a typical video game console. Those aren't considered money pits. It only becomes one if you let it when you start deciding you also need five or six CRTs and adapters for every kind of controller under the sun.

The big questions are:
1. Can you afford it?
2. Does it bring you any joy?

They're separate but after you beat one you can link it to the other and get new content, and the order doesn't matter

After you beat one, you get a password to link to the other. Beat the game using the password link, you get the True Final Boss and ending you can't get otherwise

although I'm not a fan, Minelvaton Saga is also kind of similar to Madara
currently playing through Mahjong Taisen, it's addicting enough for me to play it without knowing a word of japanese

Oh, Sweet Home is great. Great combination of RPG mechanics with a survival aspect (if a character dies they stay dead, and there is a limited item inventory). Soundtrack is also great by the composer who did Little Nemo.

As a huge Twisted Metal 2 fan I never got a chance to play this as a kid.

Definitely.

Good sense of humor, lots of destructibles, weapons are fun and the tourist mechanic makes sure that players and AI all try to destroy each other.

Soundtrack is licensed music but it all fits the game easily.

Great game imo.

One of the things that triggers me about this kind of shit is that apparently RGBfags are too fucking stupid to realize that RF, composite, or s-video won't have wildly different colors from RGB provided the inputs have been properly calibrated with SMPTE bars. Yes, RGB looks better because it's sharper and free of crosstalk, but it's not magically going to provide a more saturated image unless your dumb ass skipped a step during setup.

People don't understand the actual point of those bonus stages. They forgot to take out the "50 rings gives you a continue" thing from the Sonic 1 bonus stage, and use the ring count from the normal game so as long as you have 26 rings or more (the stage has 24 in it) you're guaranteed to get a continue without having to use the stupid slot machine

These things just slow down the gameplay, IMO. No point in amassing continues when Sonic 3 had a save system.

I was going to play Exile: Escape From the Pit with my wife, but it won't work on Windows 7. Any ideas for a replacement? My criteria are:

- Very similar rules to D&D
- Turn-based so we can play it for 20-30 minutes at a time and pick it up again later
- Character design so we can make Mary Sues

So, /vr/, I got interested in Shadow Warrior. I like Duke3D, and I noticed several people say SW is better. And since it's freeware, there was nothing stopping me from playing it, right?

Anyway, so I tried to fire it up using a source port, and - what the fuck?
First, your very first enemies in the game can either throw pathetic and easily avoidable shuriken - OR, without any indication, turn into fucking Chaingunners from Doom, and whittle down your health in a second. Except they don't have any attack animation and it's all one frame, meaning that taking cover won't work - and they don't miss either.

So I assumed I'm supposed to make them flinch, right? Bullshit, they don't flinch! Firing Uzi at them doesn't seem to stop them from firing at all! What the fuck?

I assume I'm supposed to hit them with a weapon that kills them in one hit, but - in the first level I don't HAVE one. What the hell? Sword kills them, sure, but I have to run up to the uzi guys and take forced damage in the meantime. Shuriken are useless, and fists don't seem to do any better. I get a missile launcher later, but it has no ammo.

The explosives throwing guys, fish and wraiths at least seem fair, but the most common enemies ar absolute bullshit, what the fuck? In Duke, very first enemy throwed fast projectiles you could dodge, or take cover from - or just kill them before they did anything. Here, no such luck.

What the fuck is this? Who designed this? And let's not talk about the fact that first level of Duke was a huge open ended porno theater with a city street, and first level of this crap are two nondescript buildings you run between back and forth. Also the fact that in a game so heavily based around melee, I don't have instant melee button, though Duke had one.

Why do people like this game? Is there something I'm missing here?

For me SW always felt very flimsy and overall unaccurate when compared to other Build games. It's really weird. The potential is there and it was a nice idea to have a ninja when you already had an american steroid monster (Duke3D) and a recently deceased man (Blood).

I started Gateway to the Savage Frontier a few days ago, and I'm really enjoying it. Never played a Gold Box game before, so I picked this one because I heard the two Savage Frontier games are good for beginners. Although I also heard that they're probably the weakest installments as well. Any truth to that? I plan to start the Krynn games after I'm finished with these two. Anyway, Gold Box thread. I wanna know all you know about these games. Stories, complaints, tips, whatever.

I am not well versed in these games but I kinda want to be. A while back I made an attempt at playing Pool of Radiance but it was very annoying to get myself situated. Seemed quite grand overall, though. I think I regret not persevering with it.

These Savage Frontier games are easier to get into are they?

In my experience, yes. The two Savage Frontier games have more tame combat encounters and they are a bit shorter than the others. If you play Gateway to the Savage Frontier and still end up frustrated, I'd recommend the Gold Box Companion. It adds automapping to all of the games and implements the fix command (which auto heals and re-memorizes spells in the camp menu) from the later games into the earlier ones. You should have a lot easier of a time getting situated in Pool of Radiance if you use it.
