Just made this today, thought I'd share it with you guys. You're gonna need to change the picture settings to the following for it to fit into it on a 1920 x 1080 resolution.
Custom aspect ratio X pos. 436
Custom aspect ratio Y pos. 90
Custom aspect ratio width. 1044
Custom aspect ration height. 772
Integer scale OFF
The .cfg file contains this:
overlays = 1
overlay0_overlay = PVM_Overlay.png
overlay0_full_screen = true
overlay0_descs = 0
Tested with Sega Genesis games picture fits the screen with little to no overscan, no more than an actual TV or monitor would have.
Share your CRT and other overlays here.
thx senpai

Cleaned up the borders better because I just learned a new cleaner technique, also added a little dark shadow as featured in some tv's for added realism. Please use this improved version.
Can you make an overlay using my middle school bedroom as background, please?
To people who collect video games, how many games in their collection have they actually played?
I own 783 games. I have played 14.
>>3949364
Its not about playing games its about showing off on the internet
I have a nearly complete NES collection and about 500 SNES games. I only play my xbone.
do any retro gamers keep it low key with just one console?
this is what's kinda cool about people who game on their computer or an emulator box
>>3949315
What the fuck does this post say
Nigger the point of collecting is showing everyone online that I do.
>>3949340
I'm confused myself. I see words, but nothing makes any sense.
I'm in the mood for playing some retro games.
Would it be better to put a second TV in my room (a CRT TV) or just get a Raspberry Pi and connect it to my LCD TV?
Best to play on a crt. Go to mc daniels and buy a couple macs and some niggets. Sit down and enjoy ur vidya. Like these, if played on the GC they can be really fun
Where did you even get the idea to get a Raspberry Pi?
>>3948548
Why not get some kind of emulator of your choice, be it a computer, pi, wii, whatever, and then hook it up to a crt?
If playing on an LCD doesn't bother you then don't go buy a new TV just to make /vr/ happy. But if you prefer the /aesthetic/ of a CRT then get you one.
I recently beat Echo Night and Echo Night 2.
I consider both among the best PSX games I've ever played and I'm itching for more like it. What would /vr/ recommend I play?
Also, Echo Night general, I really can't get enough of the games.
You should check The Note.
Also ...Iru! if you moonspeak.
I love those first person PS1 graphics.
and of course not retro: Echo Night Beyond, the best in the series.
>>3948472
Thanks for the suggestions. I don't read/speak Moon so I'm pretty limited, I know. It's only thanks to the fan translation of EN2 that I could play it.
I'm breathlessly awaiting the fan translation of Mizzurna Falls. Holy SHIT.
I've heard The Note was a hot piece of shit, but I'm willing to check it out.
The first couple Clock Tower games are two of my all time favorite, and because of that I'd pay money to have a Twilight Syndrome translation. But I'm not getting my hopes up. I'd fucking pay to be able to play The Witch of Salzburg as well.
EN/EN2 reminded me of another dear and favorite game, CastleVania 64. The graphics were so similar, particularly EN.

Like fish in a barrel
Can we all agree that Super Mario World is the best Mario game right?
sure whatever

yes but they're all good
>>3948095
This is a good attitude to take with these threads
Am I the only one who prefers non-upscaled or visually modified games?
I feel like most devs before the 7th gen were aware of the jaggies and other graphical limitations they were working with and designed the visuals to accommodate it
When upscaled it just makes the game look more dated and blocky
>>3947391
You're still upscaling though even without raising the internal resolution, unless you play it at native resolution on a CRT. Giant dithering artifacts won't be nearly as visible then.
No, you're not. In Ace Combat 3 nighttime looks better (IMHO) because the "lights" are like all glittery but when enhanced to high-res it's all smooth and it loses a lot of the original appeal. Not saying it looks bad, but I always preferred the original PSX look (thank god for accurate emulators).
>>3947391
i usually Play at the rez rhe game was intended so or else the game looks like a bunch of blocks
If this was any other game without the Zelda name on it would you have played it?
It just seems like a hipster fetish game but looks just like any other side scroller of the day nothing really special.
>>3946106
>hey I just played this 30 year old game for 5 minutes. Now I'm gonna go on /vr/ and throw some buzzwords together.
8/10 bait. You'll probably manage to piss off both the Zelda fans and the hardcore ARPG fans.
>fetish game
Yeh the furry head monsters in the first palace were kinda ero, but overall what did he mean by this?
Is it good or overrated?
Both. A bit overrated, but still very good. Go play it.
It's very good at what it wants to be, but I will never understand why people enjoy it, or why nintendo went with that direction. All that goddamn story and talking and bullshit nobody cares about. Just let me explore dungeons and secrets and get the fuck out of my way.
For my money, the first is still the best by far.
Both.
Who here was suckered into playing this piece of shit as a dumb kid?
I didn't.
Played this for the very first time only about 1 month ago and it's awful.
>Rascal character designed by Jim Henson's Creature Shop
Aaaand he sucks. Shit character design. Rascal is very similar to Heart of Darkness Andy, but Andy looks good while Rascal is shit.
>>3945214
It's like a knock-off of Kid Vid from the old Burger King kids club. Now that cat was cool
>"Metroidvania"
Man, Super Mario 64 sure looks great when I set the resolution to 1080p in my emulator!

>PSX
Hardest rpgs?
What are the hardest rpgs you guys have played? Preferably games that are difficult due to their puzzles or decisions in combat, not just boring grindfests.
Action or turnbased, Western or Japanese, doesn't matter, just looking for some good hard rpgs.
>>3943297
I really like the concept that game but it's way too tough even for wizardry standards. Were the ports easier?
>>3943321
Both the PCE port and the arrange mode on the PS1 have features to make things easier like non-random summons and being able to issue commands.
Chaos Strikes Back is hard as hell.
Let's talk about fighting games that /fgg/ would gloss over.
>Fightcade

>ROMs (this contains games compatible with Fightcade)

Also, if you have any mains in fighting games, why not post them? You don't have to use the chart.
>playing fighting games with scrubs
God damn, I actually did it.
ITT: retro characters from your country
>>3938924
I pick 3
Elena because born in Kenya, always be my home
Maxima from KoF because Canadian for many years and now my home
Good old Angus MacGreggor from Kasumi Ninja because my blood is all peatmoss and whiskey.
>>3938958
Do girls look like Elena back home, Anon? Please say yes
none that I know of
also this is not just a sonic thread, but any enemy who really grinded your gears
>>3938869
I did come to find troubling when that fellow blocked my path
>>3938953
I have no problem with normal Medusa heads, though i'll admit they gave me a damn lot of trouble on every first playthrough.
Now, the Medusa heads that fucking turn you to stone in SotN and onwards? Fuck them, especially in clock towers when there's spikes beneath you.
Non-retro: Dragon Quest 8, when you first encounter the Ding-a-ling enemies, and they constantly keep calling back up, over and over, and you're stuck in that one fucking battle for a half hour. Excellent exp grinding, though
