This guy is selling this set for over $400. Where can I find this Chinese bootleg Famicom variant of Super Mario 2 JP so I can have it in for my collection without supporting this kind of asshole?
google it retard
>>3965139
It was not findable through Google. And I don't want a multicart. Just that single game with a similar label.

What did they mean by this?
>>3964851
They mean she's a do-er, not a reader.
>>3964868
I'd do-er, if you know what I mean.
What does /vr/ think of las vegas games like poker, slot machines, pool, blackjack, etc. Are there ones where the AI isn't a complete cheating bastard? It doesn't have to explicitly be set in vegas, just be about the kind of games you'll find there.
>>3964746
Well I mean shit there's all kinda those old handheld slot machine and card game deals you can find, I don't know any names off the top personally but I had em all through life growing up in some stocking stuffer form or another.
They're just kinda boring to me tho.
>>3964746
Video Poker is only fun when real money comes spitting out of the fucker.
Also, not retro, and not even sure if /v/
>>3964768
I just used that for the image, I wanted to talk about games like side pocket.
My friend Greg Sutters told me that these two games where highly sought after and to snag them while I could due to how rare they are. I managed to get them both off Ebay. How'd I do? Also Ebay finds thread.
>>3964705
These are not Rare games.
Oh hey, the two most casual shmups ever made. EVER.
>>3964727
batsugun is pretty hard imo
Do you guys think we'll ever run out of retro games from "our time" (meaning whatever subjective time the retro cutoff is for you) worth playing, or because times continue to change and the retro library continues to grow you think we will never have that problem?
>>3964637
I think most of us will die of old age before that becomes an issue, given the ridiculous number of good retro games that exist.
Additionally, I think a blanket refusal to play literally all modern games is ridiculous.
>>3964656
Especially since I actually enjoy 90% of the 6th Gen. Only thing I disdain is the XBox.
>>3964637
I grew up with late 80s and early to mid 90s stuff. Later games becoming """""retro""""" doesn't affect me in the slightless because it's not about playing old games, it's about playing games that resemble the ones I'm fond of. Not even all """"retro"""".
Visiting my aunt and uncle the other day, I was helping get ready for a family party when I saw an old Playstation (pic related) sitting amidst the clutter. It belonged to their sons, who are all now older with children. It crossed my mind that it might either be a neat thing to have either to refurbish/sell, or learn how to mod with, or whatnot.
I cleaned out the inside with alcohol - it was pretty gross with grime on the plastic and cobwebs/dust inside the case. I noticed that the model number was SCPH-1001, which apparently is one of the earlier models.
Doing some reading it apparently has the notoriety of having superior audio quality among playstation models, though I admit that the whole thing seems probably a bit hyperbolic ("BETTER THAN $3000 CD PLAYERS!!!!").
So I've thought I might keep it and perhaps use it to play import games. The problem is is that the motor doesn't seem to cooperate when playing games. It plays audio CDs just fine apparently (tested it out with my Death Wish film soundtrack, ho ho). But I've only gotten one disc to really work with the model, and that is a Namco Museum disc. Others, like Ridge Racer or Resi Evil just don't load, being stuck at the opening sting with the PlayStation logo.
I am looking for some advice here, /vr/: is it worth it to buy a replacement motor (do people have experience with those)? And to go through the process of modding the console? Is it better to just use a region-bypass disc (like Xpress)? Or am I completely barking up the wrong tree? Is it just more cost-effective to sell the unit as junk and buy a pre-chipped PS1?
Would much appreciate any advice!
SCPH-1001s have better sound quality than Hi Fi sound systems.
I could prolly get this answered with some Googling, but Imma ask here instead: which are the most reliable? Easiest to repair? PSX vs PSOne?
Is the parallel port really that valuable?
>>3964618
Earlier PS1 units (before PSOne) use a plastic holder in the read head. As a result, they warp from time and heat. Try this: put a game in, flip it upside down, and try to play. Chances are, it'll work. PSOne units use a metal holder, and swapping it in is super easy. You should buy a broken PSOne and donor the part in. Or just outright buy the part. However...
>>3964635
The Parellel port is very valuable. Content crawlers and cheat devices use it, but more importantly the PSIO needs it.
My suggestion to you is ignore the disc drive for games and buy a PSIO so you can load the images off of a memory card.
I've been playing around with DOSBox and found it's surprisingly easy to use
What are some good DOS games to try out?

DoubleDragon 2

A Flashcart because its not worth paying over $20 on shitbay and hoagggers for a semi decent common title, let alone over $50 for a slightly less common title they want to claim is SUPER RARE RAWR L@@K BRRRK
Get a Flashcart or a modern Multigame cart, NO THE ONES WITH OVER 400 in 1, they are all of G1 Famicom titles with shitloads of duplicates, get the good ones like RacketBoy
Let's talk rare drops in games.
Did you ever get the Crissaegrim in SOTN or the Sword of Kings in Earthbound?
The other day I got the Gutsy Bat playing on my 1+2 cart. That save file has the sword of king, the magical frypan (most annoying one to grind for, also a bit useless), the pendants and now the Gutsy Bat, I guess I can say I've "100%'d" Mother 2.
Also, when I played Mother 2 on my SFC, I got the SoK without even trying. I grinded for hours on the 1+2 cart to get it.
I dropped about 3x Crissaegrim in my previous run in SOTN, but I had no idea what weapon it was previously and how good it was until trying it. I finished the game real quick with it.
A drop that took me a long time to get was the Goo-king Sword (Breath of Fire 3)
>>3964463
For whatever reason it took me several hours to get Mandragora's soul in Aria of Sorrow.
It's totally the Crissaegrim of that game though as its completely OP so I see why

>Vagrant Story
Iron Maiden B3 running around a trapped filled maze with 1/3 health. Before the exit is a cursed samurai that has a 2 handed damascus Holy Win. I ground it our for that. It was fucking brutal. Even after I found you can exit and come back. It still took forever.
How do you guys store your old games?
I have my N64 games loose in a cardboard box and I put all my PS1 disks in one of those disk binders.
I store them in some spare shelves I have on my wardrobe. I still have games scattered around the room because I play them and forget to put them back on the shelf.
Right now I have a couple SNES carts on the couch and the TV table.
>>3964197
I just keep mine in a drawer
I put mine in UGC(Universal Game Case)s and put them on a shelf in my game room. I print most of the covers from thecoverproject.net, or just make my own from scans.
where does /vr/ get its games?
emuparadise? old vaporware sites?
share your stories of spoils and recoveries here.
personally, i'm hella glad archive dot org are coming into their own for a lot of this stuff. it's how it always should have been.
pic related: happier times.
side-note: i'm aware a few people here are on retroWithin. i used to be on underground-gamer. does anyone happen to know what their IRC address is?

>where does /vr/ get its games?
>emuparadise? old vaporware sites?
Used to DL everything from snesorama's so-called Master Lists, then they pussied out and Deleted Fucking Everything™
Now I just go to emuparadise for all my needs.
Emuparadise covers me needs for the most part when it comes to retro games. For some japanese releases however, I had to go tracking them down through spanish forums.
Such as webm-related.
Apparently Archive.org has some complete collections.
A while ago, someone linked me a full Saturn collection on there
