Games you want to see rebooted/remade with modern graphics and audio.

I'll start: Quarantine was an excellent first person driving/shooting game where you play the role of a Taxi Driver trying to escape a disease that turns everyone crazy.

Nice. /vr/ almost never talks about Quarantine. It was a fun and unusual game for its time. If you play it now it reminds you of the 3D GTAs, but of course it's from 1994.

Did you play the sequel, OP?

I'd love a remake of the first blood, even now that the new Doom sold well and was fun

even if they make it casual shit, I would still love it if it had a good art direction
>>
>>3960027
this game was so crazy and hard to understand

I miss those kind of games

Got a saturn with an action replay cart modded with psuedo saturn, but the fucker wont spin up at all if i have a cd-r in it. I know the saturn's not completely done for because it'll read actual saturn games completely fine. Any ideas?

Yeah, it's just given up though.

I've tried fucking with the orange screw on the back that controls the laser, but its hasnt done anything. The closest I've gotten is getting it to spin up a bit, but then it stops

I want a really good one, and I find these from a japanese company called Sigma, they are called Sigma AV7000 and Sigma Raijin - this one comes with an arcade stick.

Do you know anything that is better than these two?

I'd like one that supports 4 players, and have controller ports so I can use any controller I want. Thanks.

You need to learn more about arcade boards. If you want to use any controller you want you should just emulate. If you want to play real arcade boards you will be using real arcade hardware or Neo Geo or Genesis controllers. Real arcade controls are best because they're the most straight forward to wire. If you want 4 players you will need more controls and some 4 player harnesses not all are alike. You also haven't said what kind of display you intend to use. The most straight forward way is to use a crt with rgb inputs since that's what the boards put out. I see that Raijin thing also has S-Video as a lot of semi-generic superguns do. It also looks like it expects you to plug boards right in the side of it and leave them dangling off. It's six buttons so it has a kick harness that on first glance looks to me like a Capcom one. It was probably made to plug a CPS2 into mainly. If you want to use some other formats of boards like Mortal Kombat you're going to need to make an adapter.

If you want a "really good" Supergun just buy an arcade cabinet it'll have harnesses, controls and a CRT already in it.
>>
>>3956470
I want to plug it on CRT TVs.

The AV7000 has a SCART cable, you can convert it to other formats.

But it doesn't let you regulate the RGB levels, so you need another board, but as far as I know it is compatible with old boards and JAMMA boards.

I didn't get the stuff about the harness, shouldn't it have 4 controller inputs and that's it?

The Genesis/Neo Geo controllers are good enough. I really like them.

Also I don't want cabinets, I really want a simple home system.

Someone looks at the game coding when the player has 2 lives... the code they see is 00000002.

They die one life and they take a look at the code which has changed to 00000001...

By using that they now know if they type 00000099 into the code they will have 99 lives.

Very dumbed down version

You shouldn't try explaining stuff to people if you have no idea because that's not at all how the Game Genie works.
You explained RAM modification. The GG exclusively modifies ROM.
An NES GG code basically decodes into an Adress, a compare value (optional) and a modification value.
The GG is basically able to modify single bytes of the ROM that is read from the cartridge to the console, therefore altering the code of it basically.
The adress tells it what byte to modify, the optional compare value makes it check if the given byte at the adress is the given byte and if no compare value is given or if the byte at the adress matches the compare value, then the GG overwrites said byte with the modification value.
By doing that you can for example simply edit a simple ASM instruction from SUB to ADD and make the players life increase instead of decrease when dying and a whole lot of other stuff.
Now there are also a lot of more modern devices and I think even a pretty rare one for the famicom that came out sometime after the 2000s called the "xtreme commander classic" that do modify RAM so the other guy isn't completely wrong but all GG devices strictly modify ROM.

Have you ever felt sad you were too young/not yet born to experience the golden age of personal computing just to remember your country was a communist shithole and all that joy would have been denied to you anyway

>>

Yes except the last part. But then I remember that it's not so bad because I'll live long enough to see some crazy shit that I wouldn't had I been born 20-30 years earlier.

Anyways, I got a stupid question for you guys. Would a Duron be suitable for DOS gaming? I tried it out with 98SE and it seemed to work fine for that but I'm worried it might be a bit fast for DOS. Can't remember the specific model but I think it's an applebred.

Did you actually like the 2 harry potter games released on PS1?

I was wondering what the best option is for playing retro games on an LCD screen. Which option would produce these least amount of lag?

I was thinking of trying either a PC with various emulators, a Wii /w component video, an android box, an android phone or a console like retro freak or retron 5.

Can we talk Gamepads? What's your favourite?

Currently only have an old game port Sidewinder I picked up for £3 and a Buffalo SNES pad since the wire on my 360 pad died.

Looking for a new twin stick pad, any recommendations or should I just get another 360 one?

I had one of those and I always hated it. My favorite has always been plugging a PS1 or PS2 controller in, other than when I modded 2 SNES pads to plug into my printer port.
>>
>>3957313

The 360 is the best gamepad ever made. If it only had a decent d-pad, it would have been completely perfect.

Does anyone know of a decent component to HDMI converter that doesn't introduce a fuckload of noise to the image?

I'm struggling to find something that is actually competent at conversion. The image looks decent overall, but I can just see noise in the blues and skies and whatnot in games I play.

I experienced similar noise in the Wii 2 HDMI converter.

I am not quite sure but the Framemeister is the best out there.
But there are two problems:
One, you need an RCA component to D-Terminal adapter and second, it may be too expensive for you.
Thankfully, these "problems" are barely of any concern to me since I am overly rich and I can easily buy a component to D-Terminal adapter.
