Are there any games you prefer playing in Japanese? For me it's Megaman X4. The English voice clips are pretty funny but they got pretty annoying after a while. The Japanese version also has better intro music.

I love this intro so much as a kid

Yeah my friend game me this disk with "Rockman X4" written on it and a picture of zero against a black background and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. This is the cloest picture I could find to it. That song was so pretty.

This has nothing to do with preference but I also remmeber a Japanese Skullmonkeys game that my cousin had and it was so misleading, becuase I had finished the original skullmonkeys but this one had Klayman on the cover doing the "peace" sign and I thought as a kid that it was a number "two", as in that was the sequel- so, put in the game, and its just skullmonkeys. I asked my cousin before playing if it was the second game and my cousin would just say "yes" lol. Good times discovering games in my cousins house. His dad was rich so he had a ton of original ps1 games in gaint towering cd holder, which would look super silly and inconvinent by today's stanrards. I just got tons of bootlegs and pirated copies instead. Best of both worlds.
Okay so I just googled the cover and It was called Klaymen 2 in Japan. Fucking assholes lol. I just wanted a sequel to skullmoneys.
The Rushing Beat games. Those western releases were simply horrible.
Any recommendations for a good PSU for old PC builds?
I've been browsing around google for last week trying to find a quality power supply with -5 so I can use it for motherboards with AT and early ATX standards. Haven't had any luck.
Nothing?

kill yourself cuck
Guys! It works PERFECTLY. Definitely played best with this controller. Both just arrive in the mail and I am loving this quite possibly just as much or more than Arkanoid: Doh it Again for SNES. I'll be posting gameplay. Stay tuned.

Record footage of other games too

Are you the same anon who was bitching about the price of that particular game last week?
The marine is by far the most interesting unit in Starcraft. It's completely necessary even if it's weak and I'd even argue the weakness is even the point. We really have no sense of scale when looking at Zerg or Protoss units so adding in the Marine for scale helps.
This is a regular human being in full body armor and a large assault rifle, yet they barely do any damage and only have a pathetic 40 HP. The most basic unit is the Zealot, with 60 Shields, and a whopping 100 HP. You really get the sense that these, compared to humans, are giant scary mofos. You get a sense of scale on the size of vehicles as well, and see that even the smallest one completely dwarfs a person.
And on top of that, even though marines are weak, they can still be useful, even vital.

such a damn shame that starcraft 2 turned out the way it did. instead of getting incredibly detailed, gritty, properly scaled versions of units from the first game we got kiddie shit. polished toys firing pew pews at each other in giant blobs. even the environments look like a fucking playset. god what a letdown

3D is a mistake. To get Starcraft 2 working on PCs they had to go with simple graphics. This results in less detail in the graphics over 2D.
The PSP 3D remakes of NES-SNES games suffer from the same problem. You can make 3D as detailed as 2D, but it takes a huge amount of processing power. And that didn't exist on home consoles or PC in 2010. Yet, if they had stayed with 2D, they would have been even more detailed than 1.
Well starcraft hugely impacted by aleins with the space marines and xenomorphs as well as the spartan-hi tech Predators. Wouldnt be a good story with no humans
Has this console had any good games? I've never emulated 3DO before, and I've been wanting to try something.

All the good games got superior ports on other consoles

Which port of Ultima 1-3 is the best?
FM Towns
There are some japanese versions with good looking tilesets.
For 1 FM Towns is reasonably the best. It has sound and better graphics than the rest.
For 2 FM Towns has the same advantages over the rest, it does however fix bugs which makes the game worse than it already was.
For 3 the Towns isn't perfect since it lacks the original music. IBM-DOS with VGA tiles and sound patch is a worthy competitor. You can also try the Mac or NES port if you're into those. Even Ultima 3 Gold for the C64 could be taken into consideration.
Is there any kind of mod that lower enemy health and increases their damage for Quake 1? I love the game but after coming from Doom it just takes a century to kill anything.
>>3981370
>>3981370
Enemy health is already stupidly low in Quake.

How about playing some online arcade games against/with anons around here?
Be it a popular or less popular game, it could be useful for quick plays.
>>3981358
Super Puzzle Fighter?
I could also go for some Breakers Revenge, Fatal Fury Special or SF3.3, but I'm bad at these t be honest.
I'm trying to learn Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara.
Some friends told me it sucks tho, what do you guys think?
>>3981661
It's a beat em up, so yeah it sucks.
Ultima 8 and 9 are really irrimediably bad games?
Spoony said so
what's /vr/ opinion?
>DUDE WHATS A PALADIN
xD
XD
xD
Ultima 8 is a decent idea ruined by a rushed release. A few more years in development and it could have been something like Diablo but unfortunately it's just a jumbled mess.
Criticism of Ultima 9 is overblown since it's mainly the writing that's poorly done.
Ultima 8 is good
Ultima 9 is unholy shite
Ultima 1-6 are bad games.
Why do I keep phasing through this fucker whenever I try to hit him?
Fuck difficulty curve. Now you are going to suffer son
>>3980885
because you need to get good
>>3980885
Because it's the Dark Souls of Sonic games
How do we stop hipsters and people who didn't grow up with retro games from collecting and buying up what we TRUE collectors are needing for a decent price?
By trolling them with shitty anime reaction pictures.
if you want actual mouth-frothing anger I would suggest baiting /v/.
>>3980729
And thus no one would want to be cause SELLING games anymore than collecting them, and the shit will end up in the landfill.
You people just don't have a knack for looking into the future, do you?
So you're meaning to tell me that one game with Tifa Lockheart has a Diablo-like made by nips hidden underneath that runs at an absurd 512x480 that manages to run at 60 fps but still accomplishes fantastic texture work and model quality? How does that happen? I am actually convinced using this technical foundation, it is quite possible to have a Blizzard North Diablo III alpha lite, closer to Dark Alliance or Champions of Norrath, on Playstation hardware. Impressive.
And I can say that it has at least 4 enemies on screen at once so it's not really a dud.
Diablo arches! Vibrant green grass like Diablo II but the shadows from vertex lighting still make it look darker than the actual Diablo III.
A high resolution PS game that runs at 60 fps and has actual graphical detail.
Best way to play Rayman 2 or one of the worst? This open world shit is really tiresome as is the backtracking. Not worse than the Ps1 or iPhone ports ofc, but it is superior to or even on par with what I assume is the best version, the Dreamcast port, which keeps the standard level progression?
I cant imagine the shit camera is version specific, maybe the game has just not aged as well as other 3d platformers
>>3980493
PS2 version is a massive letdown really. PC version is best, followed by N64 which is marred by poor audio support, then Dreamcast for having best graphics and sound but a weirdo level layout. Anything else is fucking garbage.
>>3980624
the GoG version unfortunately has shitty widescreen and gamepad support.
show me a more comfy retro racing game than Gran Turismo 2, and I will try it.
GT2 is so perfect. so many cars. the only gripes I have is that in the western version, they replaced the Honda NSX's and Integras with the inferior Acura versions. also, they changed the music, don't get me wrong I like Stone Temple Pilots, but the original Japanese soundtrack is much better. much less boring to hear after the hundredth time while doing the endurance races.
anyway show me some comfy racing games!
Outrun might be the comfiest came ever.

Test drive 6 is good
I've been watching kinamania lately and I got interested in Dendy and Nintendo bootlegs. Any recommendations or shitty games that are worth a playthrough?
Why does he look the way he does?
Pripyat?
Why are people so fascinated by Dendy? It's literally a bootleg famicom, the games are mostly the same too.
>>3979957
I think mainly the sub-culture it spawned from countries that had non existent official video games (or just were expensive) in which case you had tons of kids growing up with mislabeled games, different packaging, being a generation behind, anti cheat methods (ex final boss with infinite hp if the konami logo was obfuscated) and just in general finding out years later that the american kids grew up with something completely different even if most games remained the same.
