why does every genesis/md emulator have a problem with fullscreen on a second monitor? all i want to do is play on my TV, but it will only use the primary monitor AND it changes the resolution of my computer when enabled. i have never had this problem emulating any other console. anyone know of a solution or an emulator that can do this? a fusion fork, perhaps?
Just unplug your primary to make the TV the only monitor. Problem solved
that's a workaround, not really a solution. yes, i could do a number of inconvenient things to make it work but I'm asking if there's a way to make this work how I described.
>>4049749
>spend 2 seconds unplugging a cable
>inconvenient
>download different emulators and tweak different settings and fucking with video drivers is somehow not
Sure bro. Why the fuck do you even need a second monitor working while playing a game?
Favourite sidekicks? Fuck you I consider him a sidekick
Red Luigi
is this the perfect 16 bit shmup?
not even the best for the Genesis.
>>4048996
And not even best Compile game, Super Aleste is better
>>4048996
whats the best for genesis?
How much mileage can I get out of one of these for emulation?
I got one for free but it has no drive, and it uses one of those fancy PCI-E SSDs, for which I have no spares, so would basically have to buy one off ebay for $25. Can I expect something at least on par with the RPi?
It has 1GB DDR2 RAM and Intel Atom N270 CPU.
That thing will run better than an rpi. Install Layla or some shit on it, load it with Roms and it'll be a neat portable all in one retro console.
Ooh, netbook retro gaming thread?
I had one of these, I loved it so fucking much, expanded the RAM to 2GB and used it to complete Phantasy Star 4, happy memories.
Basically any 16-bit emulation will be fine on it, and of course you can play Baldur's Gate (NOT the system hungry EE version) and other classics

What about PSX?
Do you believe pre-rendered graphics have aged well?
No. Sprites are low-res, but they can look quite good when done well.
Low-res and photorealistic renders on the other hand...
I think Donkey Kong Country still looks fantastic... But a lot of other pre-rendered graphics, like those on the neo-geo, look like garbage compared to the pixel work on games like League Bowling, Metal Slug, or Shock Troopers.
>640x480
That's not the original resolution of that game, OP.
Also
>games age
Generation Z was a mistake.
Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy VI ?
Vote for the better game.
Chrono trigger is, I would say, the much better overall game though FFVI has it's moments. Personally I consider dragon quest V, metal max returns andearthboundto be better then either but that's just my opinion.
I think I like CT more, I dunno man.
>>4046127
You think DQV is better only because of its inaccessibility at the time to western audiences, the game is actual trash.
FFVI is better.
Hello /vr/, I own 87 assorted professional video monitors. Would you like one?
>>4045783
I know it's a troll thread, but hey can never be too sure.
I'd love one!
>>4045783
>there are people in this world who would be jealous of this and would pay OP at least 100 bucks to get one
Good thing I already got a CRT that looks good enough for retro games and VHS tapes.
>>4045783
what kinda hook ups?
I need antenna, and composite
Post physical retro/bar/arcade games.
Bonus points:
>minimal electronics
>obscure
>quirky
I'll outline pic related in the next post.

This is a table hockey game made by Stiga. Although there were numerous designs available, Stiga was able to streamline the game to a point where tournaments were able to be held, mostly in yuro land.

What's the point then? They ruined it.
Discuss your experiences and share your stories about the Classic Sonic games.
I have opinions about the Sonic games on the Genesis.
>>4044193
Share those too
Sonic is shit, has always been shit.
Kids these days.
>You can be a fan of horror movies without having watched one
>You can be a fan of grunge music without having listened to it
>You can be a fan of mystery novels without having read one
>You can be a fan of Japanese food without having eaten it
>You can be a fan of the Dallas Cowboys without having watched a game
What a stupid thing to say.

But those are all true.

then you're just a poser.
What does /vr/ think of Majora's Mask?
It's my favourite game, I have it since 12, and still have my file. I was thinking about disassembling the cartridge to change the battery while game working to keep my file with me...
I never had a save from a N64 cart erased, only happened to me with a couple Gameboy and SNES games.
MM is pretty great, my favorite part was the whole Mikau/Indigo-go's part where you get to jam with the bassist and stuff, more games need that kind of "band simulation". The keyboardist/band leader was bad ass.
I was disappointed I couldn't perform for the Zoras on the stage in the Zora place, but there was the rehearsal on the milk bar at least, I also loved the nod to Link's Awakening with the Lullaby of the Wind Fish (although it's not really similar to the original)
>>4041085
OP here.
Nice part indeed. Thanks for your message. That scan is from Majora's Mask Orchestrations, I have that CD, listened to It for ages.
Greetings

MM is the great it has only one shitty dungeon and the best part is commanding those skellys
I was always more into Nintendo and Sony growing up, but for the past few years I've started to prefer the mega drive to the snes, I love the aesthetic that Sega of america had during the early 90s, a clear predecessor to Sonys marketing of the PlayStation later in the decade as a more mature and edgy alternative.
The whole thing just intrigues me and I want more of this style, look and attitude that the early 90s had and that Sega definitely had a hand in crafting.
So I'm making this thread to post share stuff from this era of Sega
This image is some Sega press packet, all I could find was a few paragraphs about it and not much of what's in it

This shit's pretty dope too btw, despite how garbage it is to play.
If anyone knows where to find all the stock footage they used in the make my video games please let me know

Sick gun, fàm.
Game looks like Silent Debuggers.
See those white boxes flashing around the targets? That's how the light gun sees its target. Most light gun shooters are first person but that is a big, fun motorized zapper. Probably eats up batteries like a motherfucker.
Hi /vr/
I'm trying to patch some fds roms with their respective translation patches, but the result always look like pic related.
Am I doing something wrong?
i'm using lunarIPS btw
you might have the wrong rom, otherwise try different emulators
>>4047898
I tried with nestopiaUE and mesen: same result.
Maybe it's the wrong roms then?
Dumped the roms and patches here in case someone else wants to try

Try removing your HDD/SSD from your case, blowing on the contacts and putting it back in. This is a known issue common to these systems.
My biggest pet peeve about old video games is flashing, seizure-inducing screens. I'm glad this became less conmon with time. No, I don't have actual vision-related health issues, but they make me uncomfortable and strain my eyes.
What are the worst examples you can think of? My pick is arcade version of Salamander, one of the levels has an enemy that causes crazy flashing and takes me out of a fun game.
every time you open or close the menu in FF1
it's not that bad, but you go into the menu so damn much it all adds up

Transformations in WBIII. Even worse by the end of the game when you need to cycle through your forms in change rooms
Thanks OP I just had a seizure
