I can't seem to find much info about the latest RetroArch 1.6 on the PSP.
Do you need custom firmware to install it?
Is it any good?
I've a PSP Go on the way (thanks for the recommendations for a handheld emulation device the other day) and was wondering if anyone knew much about it?
>Do you need custom firmware to install it?
Naturally...

>Do you need custom firmware to install it?
When it comes to pirated software and emulators yes you need to hack the portable which is simply done by downloading the correct software and putting it in the game section of the PSP (You need software to work with your version of OS).
>Is it any good?
I have never used it however i found NesterJ to be good for emulating the NES and if i work with the settings on SNES9X (with the most recent mod) i can play SNES games well.
>I've a PSP Go on the way
Not bad as it includes 16 gigs of memory right on it.
Now this thread has gotten me to look into adapters for memory cards as i plan on going on a bus trip that will take awhile and i want to take a shitload of games with me.
Ill be buying a mini sd card and adapter some time tomorrow and ill tell you how it went.
Last one died to the Archive
I really enjoyed Icewind Dale.
I'm finally playing BGEE for the first time, and I can't for the life of me create a damn character. This game is the literal definition of decision paralysis.
>>4023073
Character creation is lowkey the best part of the game
Remind me one more time how the PlayStation is THE GOAT
All but one of those are on PC
>>4071594
But that was back when PC wasn't superior in every conceivable way, AND more affordable.
>>4071597
>back when PC wasn't superior
You mean the 80s?
Actually which version just has the least problems? What are the actual choices? Will the original have weird bugs? Is there a wonderswan port with nice graphics and a good translation patch?
Give me the lowdown /vr, I never really got real into FF1-4 and 3 is the one I know the least about.

The Famicom version is the only release of Final Fantasy III which isn't the remake.
If you speak Japanese, get the Japanese version without any additional patches.
If you can't speak Japanese, get the Chaos Rush English translation, it's the cleanest and best one.
Final Fantasy III Remake is a different game, and that is the one released in DS, PSP, iPhone and PC.
The best version of Final Fantasy III Remake is the PSP version because you have the option between switching from the Remake soundtrack to the Famicom soundtrack and vice versa, you also have an art gallery, music player, and the updated graphics from the iPhone and PC versions.
>>4071032
what makes the remake a distinctly different game?
>>4071040
For starters, they made the four warriors into different characters, they also changed up how the guest party member system works.
Among other things.
So my wife got me a Dreamcast for our anniversary.
I'm not really familiar with the console. I've usually only stuck with Atari and Nintendo while playing my Genesis sparsely in comparison.
What are some games I should try?
I'm a fan of action/adventure, shooters, and other similar genres.
Should have asked for a Retron 5. Your wife's son won't like the DC.
>>4070943
ignore the nostalgia posters, dreamcast isn't good for anything besides seaman. throw it away
Use the catalog next time, normie newfriend

I have a 36 in toshiba crt made in 1995. I recently moved it, having not used in years. The picture quality is excellent especially in games but if the screen goes black I see these lines and the screen is greenish when the brightness is turned up (blacks are better with it off anyway). Is this the price I pay for using an old ass tv for games?
Tv in action
You need to adjust the screen grid voltage (G2) on the flyback transformer to bring the black level background down and eliminate the lines.
Tweaking the electron gun cutoff controls will eliminate the green colour cast in dark areas.

>>4070552
Thanks, is this a complex fix or simple? Im not familiar with circuitry. Also, what about the lines? From what i read it said turn down the brightness but that only makes it more obvious
How do I get gud and where the fuck do I go Edition?
Play the vanilla version first.
>>4070361
Barring that, any general tips? Had the Dressen mine, but it was taken a few turns later because only 2 good merc out of my 5 after taking it and the airport.

When all else fails, hide inside a house with no windows.
Breachers need good armor and shotguns.
Once the enemies start barricading themselves inside buildings, break the windows and chuck a ton of grenades inside. All types and flavors. Also mortars.
Or just savescum.
>implying you can hit that tank from 2m away
What is /vr/ opinion on these two games?
Still good to play?
All Wizardry games are worth playing except for 4.
Where do I start the series? Is there different versions of the first?

NES/SNES version differs from the original on some maps and the use of DUMAPIC.
There's also some PS1 collections of all the older games with automap of that's your thing.
SNES version hits all the good spots for me.
Ever since I started playing Oblivion a few years ago, I've wanted to try some of the older games and get lost in some blissful 90’s roleplaying. When Bethesda announced that Daggerfall would be free to download from their website, I was ecstatic. Already having been familiarized with DosBox through other endeavors, I downloaded, unzipped, and attempted to load up TES2: Daggerfall. Errors flooded my screen, and after a little google searching, I found out that there was a little more depth to getting this old gem running. I won’t get into details here, but the process of installing and starting the game is lengthy and a lot can go wrong throughout. The guide I used can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=373598278. After installing the game and following the setup instructions exactly, I booted the game, picked my race, and was immediately greeted with “daggerfall has encountered error 0” and “daggerfall code 209 not found in”. Obviously, I checked my config files and destination files to see if it was a referencing issue, but everying was pointed where it needed to be. Googleing these errors brings up a lot of forum posts detailing the same issues, but no answers. I’ve almost thrown the towel in, but hopefully, someone here was daring enough to play some classic TES and willing to lend me some advice or troubleshooting.
IMPORTANT INFO:
I am using a 32-bit Windows 7 machine and running DosBox 0.74 off of a 16gb USB due to complications involving administrator privileges.
If anyone can tell me anything, or has experienced and overcome the same problem I describe, please enlighten me. I love The Elder Scrolls, and I want to experience the classic DOS games in their true form.
Have you tried using the DaggerfallSetup installer found here http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files
>>4069035
daggerfallSetput is unfortunately not an option, due to installation issues. im hoping to get my current version working with dosbox (no additional downloads)
I have Arch and I seems to remember that Daggerfall it's in the AUR, maybe if you want to really play, set up a virtual box
Samsung GX TV > SONY PVM
Composite only and not exactly the finest of shadow masks but they're small so it's not that noticeable and they're pretty totable for a CRT, definitely lighter than a pvm-8 plus they really do sound about as good as you could possibly ask for especially if you're sitting right in front of it playing.
Aunt and Uncle had one of these with a Super Nintendo hooked up to it back in the day. The sound was actually pretty good.
>not using a GXTV and PVM at the same time
>>4069010
Why are you comparing it to an 8'' PVM? They're 13'' tubes.
Hi /vr/
Lets help eachother out by guessing games other people remember playing but cant figure out what they were called.
In my case; i used to play a cd rom game as a kid back between 1999/2001ish that was this kind of turn based maffia game where you had different maffia team, you had to kill other teams in a 2D crossfire sequence in which you stood opposed to the other maffia gang and you'd fire bullets from your gun that had a really slow animation to it. Once your team killed every other character from the other team you'd get cash to upgrade weapons and such, the goal was to take over the city by making your maffia bigger and stronger. I cant for the life of me figure out what this game was called and i cant find any picture that even comes close to what im talking about.
If anyone guesses or remembers this game you'll be granted eternal gratefulness.
Really nobody?
All i know is that its not Mob Rule of Gangsters, this game came out way before it, early 90's or even an 80's game and it was all pretty simplified.
I need help too.
The game had a dog in it. I can't remember what I played it on.
>>4069082
>The game had a dog in it. I can't remember what I played it on.
that on is easy, age of empires 2
>>4068964
lol entitled bitch
your info is all in a huge paragraph, and a bunch or maybe this maybe that, its 1999/2000 and now it could be 80s?
was it monochrome? isometric? what? dumbfuck
dont tell it was syndicate
Has anyone played Screamer for PC98? This game is really intriguing to me but I can't find anything on it. Can someone give me a lowdown on what the fuck happens and what you actually do in the game?

Dehumanize Yourself And Face To Bloodshed

>Dehumanize Yourself And Face To Bloodshed
Its a aesthetically boring dungeon crawler. It barely has audio.
Hey /vr/ I have a bit of an oddity.
This is a retro trio I just got.
This is the image:
https://www.amazon.com/Retro-Bit-Super-RetroTRIO-Console-Genesis-System/dp/B00FQDEKM0/
Notice anything odd? For some reason, my console does not have a retrobit SNES controller that plugs into the genesis port. It plugs into the SNES port, and the switch is for SNES instead of genesis. The retrobit controller I got is a nearly perfect 1:1 clone of a SNES controller, and I can confirm you can plug it into a real SNES and it works.
Does anyone know why mine is different?
>>4067907
chink shit quality control and multiple revisions
>>4067914
chinks only copy they don't redesign.

>Does anyone know why mine is different?
I'll ask my wife's son, he's an expert on these!
we need a lemmings thread
SuperLemmini is by far the best way to play it in 2017:
http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?PHPSESSID=a72aa0e7305d3b5fa46bd0836dd22694&topic=1793.0
It requires a copy of Lemmings '95 to run: http://www.gametronik.com/site/download/abandonware_reflexion/Lemmings%252095/roms/Lemmings95.7z
Is Lemmings 3D really that bad?
>>4067829
Nice, I'll try that one.
I always played this remake as a kid
www.elizium [dot] nu/scripts/lemmings/
And I've played the NES and PSP versions.
I was playing Snes this afternoon and my Trinitron started doing weird shit... is it dying?
Any idea on what could be causing this? cheap fix or not worth it?

That Favela background. That dirty ass tv. Holyshit we need the wall.
>>4067674
Seems like electrical distortion from the wind tunnel you're running
>>4067674
What I don't get is, why did you film it in a garbage dump?
