Ok who else is pissed that Bubsy came back and Earthworm Jim didn't get a game? Please say I'm not the only one..
>>4074236
Bruh...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthworm_Jim_3D
For Bubsy you can just slap together some random generic assets with zero art direction and call it a day that people will buy ~le shitty mascot meme game, while for Earthworm Jim you need to actually try, needs goid 2D artists and perhaps develop something better than the original games, or else people will notice the control isn't that tight and the hitboxes suck like in most western platformers.
>>4074236
Earthworm Jim is famous for extremely creative and bizarre level and character designs, detailed and smooth animations, a very specific sense of humor, and fantastic music.
Bubsy is a fairly generic mascot platformer.
Which is easier to make?
Put these jrpg concepts in order of priority for you:
Combat, Plot, Exploration, Characters, Dungeon, Item Collecting, World Inmersion
>>4074126
1. Combat
2. Exploration
3. Dungeon
4. Characters
5. Plot
6. Item Collecting
I think World Immersion is a product of other previously mentioned concepts being done well
combat
characters
dungeon
exploration
item collecting
world immersion
>>4074145
oh yeah, and I guess I'd put plot between dungeon and exploration

DUDE
what is the best retro game you have discovered in your adult life? (no nostalgia allowed)
System Shock 1. I only played it for the first time maybe two years ago and it instantly rose to my second-favorite game of all time, only losing to Doom on the basis of mod support.
I never had a gameboy as a kid and I'd never given the games outside Pokemon much thought but I've started going through them and holy fuck there are some classics.
This here might be one of my top 10 favourite puzzle games.
Ridge Racer series
I fapped to Reiko in magazines as a lad, little did I know they were actually top tier games.
Does anyone remember that weird Sonic video on youtube where it was presented as a guy playing some new Sonic game but it becomes increasingly more ridiculous and blatantly fake and Tails has a British voice and I think him or Sega in general were trying to kill the player. Also it showed random switches from 2D to really shitty 3D perspective gameplay and was interspersed with actual old 90s Sonic / Sega commercials.
Was trying to find it again but not having any luck describing it well enough to get results in a search engine about it. I don't remember how I found it the first time around, but it was really trippy and entertaining and I wanted to watch it again.

>>4073273
Holy fuck, thank you, I thought I'd never get to watch it again.
Here's the whole thing in case anyone else wants to watch it, get high first desu.

I fucking love this, but every time I talk to someone about it they've never seen it.
I love the pinball boss.
I've been replaying the series from the start again and damn is it great. Even the first one is still lots of fun to play. I though it maybe was some nostalgia but im having a lot of fun. Big downside is that in the forst 3 games shooting doesnt have its own seperate button, but after some adapting you can manage
>>4072489
Just map the 2 keys to a single button when using a controller. I use xpadder but whatever works
>>4072489
4 Is my absolute favorite, still play it from time to time.
>>4072494
The problem isn't that shooting is hard, its that I accidentally shoot when I try to pogo and jump.
You guys still go fishing on ebay? Been landing some good catches this year.
Usually I pull up all new listings for a console and refresh every so often when I'm gaming. I'm still surprised every time I find something I'm looking for at a good price. Flea market game's been dead for years around my area.
Probably my best eBay scores in the past year have been CRT related:
>Sony KX-27PS1 Profeel for £5
>Sony BVM-20F1E for £10
>>4072408
I actually had a really good year so far also. Got a lot of NoS shit that I hadn't seen in years. It's odd.

They are still not available in Europe.
Oh so like we have already been doing.

>Altered Beast
>Comix Zone
>Kid Chameleon
>Phantasy Star II
>Sonic The Hedgehog
Good list, two system sellers (OG & post-SNES), two "hidden gems" and the RPG with the best chance of hooking casuals (also my personal favorite)
>>4071978
All of us but theoretically this will get a bunch of normalfags playing the same games at the same time and with some kind of social element with cloud saves and like maybe achievements the app can post on your insta-thing or facespace or whatever I presume?

Is there a third party hand grip for this controller?
This shit is killing my hands. God damn it.
And there is no other good third party replacement.
>>4071067
Do you have deformed hands or something? Wear some gloves I guess.
>>4071067
nah lol. try a third party one or get an adaptor for a controller you like.
>>4071073
Sounds like you got some deformed greasy hands to me.
Best way to play. Prove me wrong.
I'm Op just looking for reassurance. prove me wrong. but if you say PC back it up with footage pls. remember quake ii engine made many. thinking of StarWars:JA in particular
I'm 22. Grew up with Spongebob. Quote lines from time to time. Will sit down and watch it during a free hour. But I wouldn't be caught dead with a Spongebob mousepad.

Rocket jump off a grenade fagget!
name a more disgusting trend than CGI FMV
underage autists whining
Loser hypocrite beta virgins complaining about other people.
>not liking CG
I don't get this meme
1.annoying characters along with protagonists
2.no challenge becaue:,
a) herbs are literally sprinkled everywhere
b) bosses are really, really easy
c) abundance of ammo, you never run out
d)You have more HP than in 1,3, even with Clair
e)placement of boxes
3. Bad level design. 80% of game is running around the same hallways, unthreatened, even if you optimilize and never forget key items
4. Shit mini levels with Ada/Sherry.(Sherry is the most annoying)
5. Questionable 2 scenario design. What purpose does it serve? Only bosses differ. And they are piss easy anyway. They can't even hit you once, they are slower than anything.
6. Same amount of weapons as in first RE.
7. You will feel like a fool replaying this game.
Really? Why is it considered best?
>>4068387
We can't discuss any of the good RE games cause they're not vintage.
>>4068387
It sold very well, got critical acclaim, and had the interesting 4 different scenarios/zapping system thing. But yeah, any true RE fan will consider 1 or 3 the best.
>>4068387
1 remake on game cube is great, but 1 was truly challenging and original. i played 2 first but loved 1 over all for depth
Can we have an intellivision thread?
Just got myself one of pic related and have been pretty damn pleased with it so far, commando and nova blast are both a blast.
>>4067876
>Can we have an intellivision thread?
Why do you even ask when you already made the thread?
>>4067876
i was thinking of picking one of these up myself..
i ended up snagging the "flashback" variant instead as it contains almost half the library games...
i remember reading about "the death of intellivision" in EGM as a kid & being completely intrigued; born in 88 my oldest consoles as a kid were the genesis and NES/gameboy (fat)
lately i've been interested in collecting these older machines after messing around on the bally astrocade and seeing how fluid analog controls really could be.
OP, why don't you bump your thread with pics & games?
>>4067876
Imagic made some great Intellivision games. I highly recommend Demon Attack.
Referring to things like Atari St, Commordore Amiga, ZX Spectrum, etc. Share your thoughts, memories, and favorite games.
anybody?
Both the Amiga & ST are cool machines. Both have a lot of good games (and a lot of crappy ones too). Interesting fact some ST games support music playback on Casio CZ synthesizers on top of the traditional MT-32 support.
The speccy kinda suck gaymen-wise compared to both the CPC and MSX though, most of the interesting stuff on it are demos (and jetpac). If you're not necessarily into games, like most computer, it's still interesting in it's own way. The CPC has a lot of crappy games too, but a lot of good ones too. Too bad the CPC scene is really small nowadays. The MSX (without counting the 2, 2+ and Turbo-R models) have better games than both the Speccy and CPC overall.
Both the sharp x68000 and FM Towns are great computers, NEC's PC-88 and PC-98 aren't that impressive hardware-wise but are still cool machines.
Also FM tunes are great:

Are there any coherent archives of magazine pages containing code that the reader was meant to enter in order to make a program? I used to dumpster dive for Compute!s but I know this phenomenon wasn't restricted to Compute!
I felt that this belonged here rather than in the magazine thread, was I wrong?
What is a retro game that steals your soul and immerses you in its world? The kind of game you can start playing and become obsessed over, either by aid of the sound/atmosphere or the really detailed gameplay or just a love of the lore.
Pic related is one of mine. It's the kind of game that makes you wanna lock yourself in a dark cold room and lay in front of a CRT for an eternity. All its sequels lost the dark fantasy feel so it just ain't the same.
