What's your favourite Metroidboy game, /vr/?

Earthworm Jim 2
Elder God Tier:
Monster World II
High Tier:
Monster World III
Mid Tier:
Monster World
Low Tier:
Monster World IV
Shit Tier:There are no bad Wonderboy games.

Monster World IV. It's definitely my top-20 game as well.
I remember playing Beck's Mutations when it came out over Speedy Gonzales for SNES back in like 1998, smoking some killer Sativa.
Shit was great.
Give me your nostalgia, my dudes.
I dunno, sometimes I feel like others would ridicule my nostalgia. Games seem a lot more meaningful to me than they do most other people. I remember marveling at the beauty of Shadow Warrior. I'd stop and just stare around me, drinking it all in- earth, trees, sky...Of course, shooting people in the face and blowing shit up was cool too, but I spent at least as much time exploring and admiring all the little things they managed to populate those worlds with. BUILD3D games did that sort of stuff exceptionally well, of course.

LOL WEED
>>4093921
I was a teenager, bite me.
I don't give a shit if it's RF. If I can see it, then it's playable.
They are distinguishable, but only if you are very perceptive or are comparing side by side.
Also, many just choose the already available and therefore lowest cost option.
I personally went with component because the CRTs I own have it.
>>4093871
then why coment?
I can't find a single english copy of this game for under 100$
Meanwhile, moonrune versions are 20-30$
Why live
Persona is a popular series and of course people want the "old school" entries.
If you don't know japanese to play the original, you still have options, like modchipping your playstation (why isn't your ps not modchipped by the way?), or emulating, or playing the PSP version.
>>4093553
>Why live
Because you can easily emulate it or even have exactly the same experience with a burned copy? That's the only way you're going to play Innocent Sin afterward in English anyway - or you could learn to read Japanese as I'm sure the moonies will soon very condescendingly suggest.
>>4093553
That's how it is with ps1 jrpgs are, you have to be ready to pay the price. You either can buy something boring like wild arms for $20 or pay $50 or over for a actually good game.
Not a persona fan myself so my information may not be the best but I believe that version of P2 has a lot of censorship and a overall lazy script. I believe the psp ports are said to be better, also has both ofvthe P2 games over just the one. Unless you want that specific version try the psp ports.
>>4093556
Some people like physical copies of the games they love. I emulate normally but sometimes I just love a game and want a real copy. Fuck off gramps.
What are some of the best keyboards for win9x that have at least 6key roll over?
I use a Cherry
>>4093518
>Cherry
Oh ya that company slipped my mind. Any specific model, I doubt there'd be any issue with using a new one?
I probably should had been more clear in the OP that by win9x I mean PS/2 or AT to PS/2 capable keyboards.
Just Model M my shit up
Any fightcade/ggpo users here? What games do you play? I was thinking we could have a thread going on for setting up matches or something.
>>4093307
Mostly just play JoJo, with a bit of Alpha 3 sometimes.
>>4093398
>jojo
Metal Slug co-op whenever I'm in the mood... But the default's level-8 and I'm no good at level-8 and unless I'm player 1 it's gonna stay level-8...
What’re you guys’ experiences with the 8bitdo wireless controllers? I’m looking for the most authentic thing I can reasonably find that’s also wireless, so I don’t have to have ten feet worth of extension cables every time I want to play something.
As an aside, recommendations for Bluetooth dongles would be great.
i could be wrong but they look slightly thicker than a real snes pad
also i keep hearing about dpad issues. they need to sort that shit out
>>4093131
Yeah, I heard about the d-pad issues from a few people too. That’s part of the reason why I made this thread, i was hoping my fellow autists could offer their experiences.
>>4093127
The dpad is shit, it can't do angles well. Climbing up vines on Mario Bros is a pain in the ass because he's always sliding left and right.
Don't mind me, just being the most underrated dungeon crawler even made
>>4092847
You are correct, sir.
>>4092847
Looks nice. Is it real time or turn-based?
Which is the superior Sega "Force" franchise, /vr/?
How was Dragonforce a franchise? It only had one game.
>>4092682
It had a Japan-only sequel.
>>4092682
Shitty band name.
Did you guys know there was a PS1 Cowboy Bebop rail shooter?
Yes, I've played it. Never seen it discussed on here before. It's okay, I thought the controls were pretty bad, especially cause there's no analog support, and the game is pretty easy with only like 5 or 6 stages. I'd say it's worth checking out if you're a big Bebop fan. I just wish there was a translation of it somewhere cause I'd at least like to know what's going on in the story
I did, never played it.
Ofcourse. Do you take me for a casual or something?

Did you know that there was a PS1 Gamera rail shooter that is actually good?

What site do you like to buy your retro consoles and games at? Is it eBay or some other site?
Goodwill once in a great while. Maybe a lucky yard sale. The time to buy retro games has passed.
>>4092070
What do you mean?
>>4092210
He read somewhere that Retro is not worth buying or the time has passed. He doesn't know.

I want to buy some N64 controllers but since they're somewhat expensive and most of the joysticks will be quite loose, I thought it would be a better idea to buy a new third party one. What is the cheapest you can get where the joystick works well enough? (not loose -or badly calibrated)
Buy an used one and then buy this stuff to fix it:
http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/n64-joystick-gears
Remember to grease it, check a Youtube tutorial.
>>4090880
But it would probally cost more in the end that way
>>4090889
There is no good third party controller except for the Hori one.
give me your absolute top tier ps1 single player games, games that are a delight even today, that have aged well and that feel refined and polished even some 20 years later.
no jRPGs though, as much as I want to like the ps1 era jrpgs they all shit the bed equally almost.
Pic related is pretty good stuff, 3d worms-like, plus you can permanently lose your dudes and the difficulty gets ramped up as you progress. Framerate is kinda odd but everything else is top notch.
Was a good game. Sadly I was only 7-8 years old when I played it so I got stuck and didn't finish the game.
Einhander - Amazing shooter
Front Mission 3 - Tactics mech game
Ridge Racer Type 4 - Even though it's old it still has great game play and a good story mode.
Wipeout XL (2097)
Klonoa
>>4090482
crash(1-3)
syphon filter(1-3)
mgs(try rankings on expert, not killing anybody on map, stealth way)
spyro 2, Medievil1&2 (if you mind the low difficulty- don't. it's teenager difficulty)
Space police 1
Twisted metal 2(campaign)
That's all I think. I played most of survival horrors on psx, but wouldn't place them in top tier. Out of those, Fear effect 1/2 seemed the most polished one. Try it out if you wish.
>ps1 era jrpgs they all shit the bed equally almost.
What do you mean by that?
