Why did SNK think the NEO GEO CD loading times were acceptable?
I mean sure ok Magician Lord,ViewPoint,Mutation Nation etc have a huge initial load then after that it is completely fine. But KoF 94 which was released one month after the japanese launch already showed that even in the short term this simply would not hold up.
Also fuck them for choosing a proprietary power supply plug.
>>4110997
maybe they wanted to save on the license fee? using a sony plug probably would add a dollar per unit
>>4110997
>100V
I've got a lot of spare time coming up and an urge to play franchises I never got into.
Recommend me some must-play games from must-try franchises of the NES SNES, Genesis and GBA.
I've played all of Sonic, MegaMan, Mario and Metroid and [pic related] so don't suggest them.
On my to-do list is
Castlevania 1-4 + SotN and Bloodlines
A Link To The Past
Streets of Rage
Secret of Mana
Mother 1-3
>>4110879
>Castlevania 1-4 + SotN and Bloodlines
You REALLY should play Dracula X Rondo of Blood on TG-16 as well.
Rocket Knight Adventures on Genesis, Sparkster on SNES
>>4110879
>Streets of Rage
2 is better than 1.
Can any Sega fans here tell me who the pink girl is supposed to be?
She is from P.S. Surii-san, which is kinda like Hyperdimension Neptunia in the sense it follows the adventures of console girls. (PS3 being the MC).
>>4110531
Wow that is super obscure. Mad respect.
>>4110531
Oh, so she's not actually from his franchise.
Anyway, thanks for the info!
I managed to effectively skip the entirety of Nintendo Handhelds. Are there actually any proper games from Gameboy to GBA era worth checking out? I'm open to basically any recommendations
Also general handheld hidden gems thread
Eh, most are gimped console ports or just a gimped version of a console game.
>GBA
NOT RETRO
>>4110171
>Gameboy to GBA
obtain reading comprehension. I'm talking about OG GB and GBC games
>company spends millions on a game
>cheaps out on the voice acting
Nothing is so infuriating, maybe I'm weird but it just cheapens the entire game to me. Shenmue has it REALLY bad but the resident evils are also pretty shit. Thinking about it, almost every popular game with voices in the day had this problem.
play the undub
English voice acting isn't taken seriously and especially not in videogames, this has always been truth.
I play games with sound off
Starting with list of 2D Playstation games:
>>4109664
I have no clue who made this chart, or what criteria for inclusion. It's a nice chart as I've found new games I never heard of through this.
When it comes to quality 2D games I can't help but feel that the PS1 was the true successor to the SNES.
>>4110193
both a blessing and a curse, back in the day magazines would rag on PS1 2D games for playing too much like 16 bit titles.
Because of the direction Nintendo has gone with motion controls it's going to really be a hurdle for emulation in the future. Once all the consoles die off those games may be forever unplayable.
So has this already happened with any /vr/ games? Like they can't even be emulated anymore because of some hardware gimmick and are essentially lost to time?
>>4109413
>Because of the direction Nintendo has gone with motion controls it's going to really be a hurdle for emulation in the future
Fortunately none of those games are worth emulating.
I'm sure this could be emulated with any midi keyboard one day, but I doubt it's a high priority.
>>4109413
Same problem than gun games (Duck Hunt, Virtua Cop, Time Crisis, House of the Dead, Point Blank, etc.). Are they emulated properly today?
Why were European companies so keen on porting their game to every possible console in existence at the time?
>>4109326
>maximum sale opportunity by having your game available to everyone
Gee I wonder why.
>>4109326
Because why wouldn't they? Exclusive releases only profit hardware makers
In the case of Ubisoft, it's in their name. "Ubiquitous software".
Multiplatform releases are their global strategy.
Arcade or SNES?
arcade is the hardcore version for REAL gamers
Arcade, but both are good.
>>4108792
SNES just because that's what me and my buddies played when we were kids. Don't think I ever saw it in an arcade in its heyday. Always saw Turtles 1 though.
since they got somehow banned by the EU , post your favorite or recommended casino/gambling games
>Pic related
I dont know what the fuck is wrong with me but I fucking love these types of games (super Caesars palace on super Nintendo especially)
>Absolutely comfy
I'd spend hours in the RBY Pokemon slot machines
I obviously cannot gamble in real life even though I like it and typically do well at the card tables
>>4108640
And by gamble in real life i mean excessively / high-risk scenarios (high roller)
I'm about to "beat" the SNES version of this game
>I'mRichBitch.gif
>>4108640
Vegas Dream on NES is by several orders of magnitude the best gambling game. I'd also recommend Vegas Stakes on SNES.
Forgot to mention
Accepting recs for LITERALLY any system
I have intellivision, Atari 2600/7800, bally astrocade, NES,SNES,n64, GameCube,sega(CD/32x/Saturn/Dreamcast), 3do, ps1/2, gameboy, ECT
We've been slowly acquiring them through the mail
>>4108662
Vegas stakes is a good one it also works with the mouse which is nice , I dunno why I always loved Mario paint
We have an everdrive n8 with the complete retail library I dunno how I missed the Vegas game will load it up rn
this game was a masterpiece !!
>>4108085
I like it but it is a tad short
Why only four bosses?
>>4108085
too easy and too short. beautiful graphics though
MC Kids > Global Gladiators > Treasure Land Adventure
>>4108159
>M.C Kids
My nigga. That game is great.
Because the first season had only 4 episodes, what are some other /vr/ related shows worth watching while we are waiting for season 2 of Castlevania?
Apparently Damon Lindelof admitted to Lost being inspired by Myst.
Earthworm Jim
Where can I download it? It's not on nyaa.
Just tried to look for a Donkey Kong 64 Rom this past week, and I couldn't find it anywhere.
Is this the death of emulation? I've been hearing that Nintendo and several other companies have been sending C&Ds like crazy, forcing all these retro games to officially not exist until they say so.
What will you do now?
https://archive.org/details/No-Intro-Collection_2015-03-03
>N64 emulation
>>4105907
shh I just wanted to play a somewhat decent game again for once in my life
This is the ideal Castlevania. You may not like it, but this is what peak game design looks like.
fuck off with your stale memes
>>4103472
It should have been either called Super Castlevania(no numbers) or Demon Castle Dracula outside of Japan. Oh, and the fact that NOA and NOE ordered blood either removed or turned green is just stupid.
Would you call me crazy if I told you that I perfer 2 over 1?
>>4098292
But the graphics are horrendous in 2.
>>4098293
Agreed, Guy I Don't Know.
>>4098293
disagree.
