So there's this guy near me selling a Super Famicom for 50 euros (about 57 dollars) with 4 games included. The console is incredibly yellowed but the buyer promises its all working and including an EU adaptor, so the deal still sounds incredibly solid.
The only problem is, what the fuck kind of SFam is this supposed to be? If it's a Japanese console then why isn't the box the traditional JP one? I've heard there was an official variant released only in China, is this it? Or am I looking at some shabby KO instead? Pls halp a noob out.
Also, pic of the unit and games.
>Mani Limited
It's a official chinese Sufami.

Alright, glad to know it's genuine, anything I should know about it in particular or am I good to go?
Chris Houlihan is better than you.

He asked to keep this secret between you.
And you're telling everybody.

Bomberman 2: Electric Boogaloo
>put cartridge in
>turn console on
>doesn't work
>turn console off
>take cartridge out
>give a good firm blow to the cartridge
>put it back in
>turn the console on
>it works
>mfw
>blowing up doesn't actually do anything, the most important thing is to re-insert the cart again because the problem is that the pins didn't match perfectly with the cart, it has nothing to do with dust or dirty
>pull cart out then back on the slot without blowing
>doesn't work
>repeat several times
>still doesn't work
>fuck it, I blow it just in case
>put it back in
>it works now
I don't know what it is, it's not scientifically proved, but blowing somehow works.
>mfw blowing
Tfw i can hear the classic FFSHHWHWH sound of blowing into an n64 cart clear as day in my head
Taking this shit to my fucking grave
So, I have decided that I don't want this to just gather dust in my room and I don't really play console games that much and I have decided to sell my collection. Anyone know any estimate numbers for this collection?

Near worthless. PALshit and sea of bootlegs.

What's all the yellow famicom carts?
Who else played this?
I 100%'d it with a few S ranks and average A rank.
>>4114452
I saw this for $10 the other day.
Is it pretty much neccesary to have people to play with? Is it multiplayer only?
>>4114513
I played it alone so no, not really. I actually have no idea what it's like with other players.
I really don't know where else to ask this. I'm playing Final Fantasy on the NES and can't find any information anywhere about enemy formations. Do my attacks have a higher percent chance of hitting an enemy based on where the enemies are located in their formation.
In addition, are there any tips on ensuring that I don't get myself into an unwinnable scenario? I'm using a Fighter, Black Belt, B. Mage and W. Mage.
Also, I guess a Final Fantasy thread would be alright since there isn't one.
>>4114146
Restart with 4 Fighters.
Magic is glitched. Half the spells don't work at all and the damage spells don't scale with your stats making them weaker than normal attacks.
Enemy rows weren't a thing until FFV, I think.
Also no team with a fighter is going to be unwinnable
>>4114161
Surely I'll be able to succeed without that kind of build? I'm not that far but don't feel like resetting
Why do shit games get so hyped because they're on snes?
If this was for genesis itd be 3$ bargain bin fodder
Kids ain't buying games, they're buying an identity.

same reason whygamecubemultiplats are always the most expensive out of their generation

They look better tho.
Hi all.
In the previous thread >>>4103871 I found some stock of JVC CD-Rs that I suspected might actually be NOS Taiyo Yuden production.
As promised I have returned now the goods have arrived (500 discs in total) with a status update. These are in fact the real deal. Nice mid-blue recording surface and they report the correct MID in Imgburn.
Here's hoping that my burn tests will be equally successful.
>>4113516
Here's the packaging the discs came in for reference.
Note especially the "Made in Japan" as CMC has no production facilities there.
>Panzer Dragoon 2.iso
>not 4 bins and a cue
I think I'm seeing your problem. Use proper rips.

Pretty much this, OP.
Digitized actors, in both sprite and FMV form, were among the many reasons that old games were superior. I wish it never died. I want blu ray quality sprites of interns in weird plastic costumes. I consider pic related to be retro because photography was invented before the year 2000.
>Mortal Kombat
>Harvester
>Resident Evil, at one point
>Wing Commander 3: Hamill of the Tiger
>Trog (clay counts as an actor)
These and others are why video games were invented.
You're a very strange person

Why were control schemes so hardcore back in the day compared to what we have today?
it seems so alien, what humans hands endured to reach the keymappings of today.
WASD is all ive known
Well it's not like there could have been a standard until someone came up with one, with the advent of FPSs with verticality nobody knew what to do with all these new dimensions in terms of control.
I did play SS1 a few years back and never tried the mouselook hack because I thought it'd be too pleb, but holy shit the controls were hardcore, about half the letters and numbers on the keyboard were dedicated to movement, looking around and even leaning, though after an hour or so they had become 2nd nature.
>>4104371
how did they do it back in the day?
people had to have customized their control set ups no one could have found this key layout to be ideal could they? S to go forward? X for back? What the fuck.
>>4104372
Because in a parallel universe szxc would have become the fps standard and you'd look back on an old game and say "wasd to move? What the fuck? my pinky barely reaches the ctrl key like this, there's no way people thought this made sense."
You should try nethack, that game had a separate key for every single possible action, and I mean one key for opening doors and one for closing them.
Hey, /vr/. Can somebody SparkMandrill me on the various Mega Man series?
I played a bit of X (couple of Snes ones) and some Classic (3+) back in the day, but no Legends orBattle Network / Zeroand never really felt like touching the stuff again afterwards until now.
So: Play order suggestions? Best series? Best game in each and/or overall? Absolute must-plays? Anything to avoid?
>>4096660
>Hey, /vr/. Can somebody SparkMandrill me
I hope you get run down in the street
>>4096665
I don't get it.
All the Classic series are good. Ignore the naysayers that shit on 7 and 8; they're aesthetically different than the previous six and autists hate change.
Mega Man X1 to X4 are good. X5, X6 and X8 have mixed opinions - you'll need to play them yourself in order to form your own viewpoint, but play the others first. X7 is literal garbage - avoid it unless you truly wish to see Mega Man at its worst.
Battle Network is a mixed bag - some are great, some are awful/boring. With my little experience, I know that 3 is great and that 1 and 2 aren't as good. I can't speak for the rest. Don't worry about the different "versions" - they're really not that big a deal.
Star Force is just Battle Network with a few fancy changes. If you like Battle Network, try it out.
The Mega Man Zero games are fairly decent all around - the entries get better as they go, however, so take that how you will.
Mega Man Legends is probably the most divisive series in the franchise, since it's Mega Man's first transition to 3D, featuring actually decent voicework compared to Mega Man's other games, and they play so little like the previous games - platforming is downplayed in favor of adventure and exploration and some more RPG-ish elements. Great, solid games, though some people don't like them for one reason or another. The cliffhanger will never be resolved.
Hey I am pretty new to 3D platformers and recently started playing Gex: Enter The Gecko and wanted to ask:
What are some other good lesser known 3D mascot platformers?
Rayman 2 is god-like, but not sure if it counts as being lesser known.
Rocket Robot on Wheels is one of the better, more unique and imaginative 3d platformers Ive played. It was Sucker Punches first game (the devs of Sly and Infamous). Do yourself a favor and at least look into it.

Is the Dreamcast version the best one?
ITT: Make knuckles chaotix good
I'll start
>put more fucking enemies in the levels, so at least something tries to stop you from beating the game
>some pits of death wouldn't hurt
>remove ring-chain mechanic
