It's got a bunch of great platformers, better arcade ports than the Famicom, some really cool peripherals like the 3D glasses, and a sexy red and black design.
So, what gives?
>>4141794
>better arcade ports
When are you people going to realize that only a tiny, TINY minority of gamers actually care about arcade ports, doubly so in regards to their fidelity?
Instead of having victim-complex and starting a thread with "why don't you guys like my system? it has better arcade ports than the Famicom!" console war-y shitposting, why didn't you just start a regular SMS thread? Asking for favorite games, or just listing your own favorite games.
But no, you had to start the thread with victim complex bullshit and console war bait.
Master System is alright, the catalogue isn't as expansive but it has some good exclusives like Wonder Boy III and Zillion.
>>4141802
Back then you cared, the master system was a great console but did better in places where Nintendo didn't reached.
Besides Japan of course but in SA we had plenty of them, Disney's land of illusion it's a master piece.
I have no mouth but i must scream.
There was a thread last week that drew my attention but sadly it died. I played it now and it had an awesome story and voiceacting. Did anyone else played it?
Are there similair games worth checking out?
>>4141659
I've played it on my psp. Good stuff
yeah, it's pretty good
ellens part was the weakest, other than the elevator scene, walking around that stupid Egyptian crap wasn't atmospheric like the other characters sections. overall great game 9/10 for an old point and click awkward puzzle fest
where do you all get your nintendis roms now that nintendo has effectively nuked all the main sites that host them? is there an onion link or something? sorry, obvious newfag here. read the sticky and leafed through some threads after Ctrl+F-ing and couldn't find anything
If you google-fu is good enough there are still a lot of direct downloads left.
Otherwise just head over to /t/
nice try, totally-not-nintendo-employee, you ain't getting my roms
Literally read the sticky ya dingus
This has to be one of the worst final bosses I've ever fought.
It's required that you throw enemies into him, but the sickle ninja (the best one) can't throw. Or at least he can't grab, which is a prerequisite to throwing. I looked up a FAQ and it said he can throw by pressing back+Y but that just turns him around most of the time, so basically throwing with that guy is random. Not to mention even with characters who CAN reliably grab and throw it is still pretty random because to grab you have to "walk into the enemy" and you will grab them. Yeah, if they don't punch your lights out first. Not to mention all the green laser barriers that keep tossing me all around.
Bottom line, if grabbing is such a vital mechanic to beat the game, put in a damn grab button.
>>4141386
Ew no crt lines.
>>4141386
>This has to be one of the worst final bosses I've ever fought.
In fairness, you have to be one of the worst players that final boss has ever fought.
better be bait op, you can't be this shit
Why is there no HDMI solution for SNES?
We have
Hi-Def NES (HDMI NES)
UltraHDMI (HDMI N64)
GCVideo (HDMI Gamecube)
But nothing for SNES, arguably the best console Nintendo ever put out. What the fuck is going on? Are people buying Retrons or emulating? RGB is shit because you have to go through 10 billion converters to get it to work.
Why would you want to play SD games in HD resolutions?
>>4141306
We also have the other NES consoles that make it totally HD like AVS.
>>4141309
Because 8-bit and 16-bit graphics look fucking gorgeous, colorful, bright vibrant clear and beautiful in HD.
Which light gun for N64 would you recommend?
Any problems with a HD/modern TV screen?
Lunar gun is OK, but it's just better to use the n64 analog stick to aim desu. Still the most precise analog stick.
>>4141242
You can't use light guns with HD/modern screens.
>>4141242
How many lightguns are even there for N64? I can't think of any.
>buy this mod
>begin to disassemble console
>3 screws broke apart while unscrewing with a normal screwdriver
>proceed to take everything apart
>line up this flimsy piece of shit with the chip
>"wow, that's way smaller than I thought..."
>soldering iron tip is thicker than the distance between two metal parts of the chip
>attempt to solder
>solder coats over multiple pieces at once
>already fucked: ABORT
>attempt to desolder, but it won't
>"OH FUCK!"
>try to desolder *harder*
>destroy pic related
>metal no longer connect just coated with solder
>"m-maybe i can just solder the wires without the piece..."
>can't strip the wires despite using the exact tool in the instruction
>the fucking wire is so brittle and thin that it just rips off with the insulation no matter what
>put console back to together
>throw modchip in drawer
Just a message for anyone attempting this: if you do require the adapter in pic related, hire someone else. You will likely not have the tools for the job.
You probably should have disassembled and gauged if you had the skills ahead of time. That does look like a nice little circuit rebuild kit though and simple too. Hopefully it didn't cost too much.
1) Flux
2) Desolder wick
3) Smaller soldering iron tip.
I would make sure I had a pretty fine tip on my iron if I was going to do this one at a time.
I've also seen people solder one point down then run a knife style soldering tip with some solder across this ribbon cable. Haven't tried much myself but I'd be more confident doing it one by one. I'd solder the first and last points to secure the ribbon down first.
You went about this without a battle plan. Regroup, buy the mentioned supplies, try again sir.
>>4141109
>>soldering iron tip is thicker than the distance between two metal parts of the chip
It should be common sense not to do that.
I want an Svideo cable for my Nintendo consoles, does anyone here use one?
Is pic related good?
Hopefully this won't turn into a shitshow like the last thread. But to answer your question: probably not. Most s-video cables that also have a composite video plug bridge the composite line to the s-video luma line to save a few cents vs actually running a proper separate wire to the luma line. The cable manufacturer saves money and gets to advertise it as a "universal" cable, and you get shit s-video quality because the luma is being drawn from a composite video signal that has interference from the chroma subcarrier instead of the true separate pristine luma signal that the console outputs. In most cases, the video quality will be even worse than plain composite, because at least composite gets cleaned up a bit by the TV's comb filter (which isn't used on an s-video input because luma and chroma are assumed to already be properly separated). Basically, look for a cable that doesn't have the yellow RCA plug.
>>4141259
this
That being said, I use the official Nintendo S-Video cables on my Rev-08 N64 and the picture quality is absolutely fantastic.
>>4141259
I've seen pic related but none of my S-Video cables do this unless I have them connected to a console. I try to only buy cables that seem to have some quality but it seems crazy to me to imagine that cheap 90s TVs would even accept composite as luma. Is the working theory that they just handle it by smearing everything into what is essentially composite at the end?
I use composite for rgb sync on my pvms and they don't give a fuck while I understand some rgb crts give many fucks. Is it "acceptable" to use composite for luma because all composite TVs separate chroma from luma internally already?

How do i fix the lagging and crackling sound on emulators?
In this specific case, open emu with virtual boy core for gba.
Why it has to be always a problem with emulators?
Why can't they just run smoothly without causing any trouble?
It is my toaster isn't it?
>>4140789
>It is my toaster isn't it?
Most likely, yes.
Introducing a small audio delay allows for the emulator to have small slowdowns without causing the audio to crackle or distort.
The slower your hardware is, the larger the delay needs to be to prevent audio crackling.
>>4140789
Vba a piece of shit. Try using mgba
>>4140789
Did you sync it to the game?
But if you really got a toaster that could be it too, play in smaller resolution.
I'm the only one who like MK3 more than Ultimate?
Ultimate has too much ninjas and way too HARD
>>4140378
Both versions control AI based on player input meaning antiair is triggered before the first jump frame is drawn. Horrible single player.
>>4140378
I just wanted to sniff Sheeva's stinky feet. That's why it was always my favorite.
>>4140378
>Kombat Zone
Oh man how I miss the dayz of Mortal Komedy
What was produced here?

Dragon dildoes
What kind of waste was processed here?
Thoughts on Heretic 2?
Also, dark fantasy 3d games thread.
>>4140217
>Heretic 2
you mean hexen right
I wanted to play it but I couldn't get the musics to work.
Also the settings seemed to have a thousand different commands you can set to your keyboard which felt unfriendly for a beginner
>>4140217
A good game for its time. Nothing like the first game. Can't remember shit.
Played the demo quite a bit.
Ok boys, I need a list of the dankest most aesthetic 2d sci-fi games ever, preferably if there's some gore, preferably if it gets crazy with plot stuff, and preferably if it's action/adventure/visual novel/RPG
Japanese games also preferable unless you just know of some really cool US/EU shit i could check out
Thanks
>>4140123
sounds like you'd like the Snatcher/Policenauts series.
The Screamer (PC-98)
Moving Adventure Psy-O-Blade (Mega Drive)
Anyone know a semi-decently written JRPG with a great sense of pacing/scope that really gives that "epic" feeling? Most FF games are perfect examples.
>>4139886
Dragon Quest series. Sweet home.
The first dragon quest is one character no party rpg though.
>>4139886
if you want "FF but not", Rudra no Hihou has sky trains, undersea empires, a world destruction countdown, a fun magic system, you even die!
The only two jrpgs with good pacing are chronol trigger and panzer dragoon saga, both are less than 20 hours yet are as satisfying as 50 hour games because you don't spend 25 of them in battles
I LUST FOR HORDE FPS giv recommendations pls
>>4139396
I honestly can't think of any. These games might be considered a rare breed. There are some 2D shooters, like pic, that would fit the bill.
