What's the price-range for chinkphones that are able to emulate up to Psone?
Probably just go with a PSP if you're trying to be cheap.

I don't want to carry around another device beside the phone.

How are you going to control? Because playing with the touchscreen is worse than hell, even for JRPGs.
*Steals your rupees*
>>4157628
That fuck ass always stole my bottles. So I would just go back in time. He was the fastest way to get 5000 rupees for the heart piece, though.
>>4157662
How so?
I'd always get the two 100 rupee chests in clock town to grind money.
>>4157685
Yeah I'm pretty sure the there's a silver rupee chest in east clock town which doesn't require any equipment or anything to get.

what came before directinput?
as in...how did game systems communicate with controllers before directinput and Xinput were around?
was it just RAW input?
Every game had to support whatever input devices were popular at the time, programmed by the dev themselves.

I remember playing some NHL 2001 game I think with that gamepad on an old compaq computer

So I want to play Miracle Piano on my NES and have a flash cart to do so, but I'm wondering if it is possible for me to use my piano I already own that supports Midi out via USB? I'd rather not have to buy the official keyboard if I don't have to, but I'm just curious as to how I would go about it otherwise. I was successfully able to emulate it using the same piano on a PC, but the emulator plus the HDTV caused too much input lag to hit the notes with proper timing. That issue is even further worse due to the fact that the TV outputs the metronome which is then out of sync with the keyboard audio. I have a CRT I could play on, but getting my PC to output something it could use would be a pain in the ass. Any suggestions?
The keyboard has a special port for the controller cable. It doesn't use the midi ports.
>>4157312
Certainly said port still outputs in Midi though, no?
>>4157332
Why don't you, like, google it yourself or go to a specialized forum brah
>Playing through Sonic and Knuckles the first time way back when, reaching this boss fight at the end of Hidden Palace Zone was euphoric.
>I took great pleasure in whooping this smug fucker's ass after chasing him since the beginning of Sonic 3.
What was a beat down you thoroughly enjoyed in a game?
Finally beating down Green Hill Zone after toddler me tried endlessly to abuse invincibility frames on Act 3's spikes (You know how that turned out).

Ozzie from chrono trigger. What a bitch
How does one go about using pic related as primarily a cheat code device, and not a region changing device? I'm only interested in the action replay functionality, is it possible for me on my NTSC-U console to play any of my NTSC-U games and enable cheats for them?
Most videos online talk about how a "pal" game goes on the back and an "import" cart goes on top, and then a boot code is selected.
Does any of that stuff apply if you're just using the passport on the same region for the console and games?
>>4157171
I forgot to add, I'm aware of Gameshark, but that thing is very tedious to use. The first thing that caught my eye with the passport is that there is no "keycode" option like there is on Gameshark. That shit was annoying as fuck.
>>4157176
There are only a hand full of games that need a special keycode. The Zeldas, a few Rare games, Smash 64, and Paper Mario are really the only ones of note.
>>4157480
For the passport?
Okay /vr/ who would win a fight to the death, on the left we have Chrono from Chrono Trigger and on the right we have Randi from Secret of Mana.
Let's explain both their stats, strengths and weaknesses and skills and compare them.
Be fair on this and give your reason on why you think one of them would win.
>>4156857
Crono has magic; Randi's strong attacks require him to stand around and do nothing for a while before acting. Crono seems stronger. Randi needs his companions too much.
Crono is an overpowered faggot, but Randi could get lucky with moogle claws or imp fork, then keep on wailing.
Girl/Sprite would fuck him up royally with spell stacking.
Whoever gets the first turn.
has this ever happened to you /vr/? I was emulating pic related, reached the end of the flaming level on the first megami tensei, after getting an item that would let you see where the boss of that section is hiding (I think it was Set), but then I stopped playing for a while, when I decided to come back to it turns out I must have accidentally deleted the save file somehow because the file was clean, or perhaps it got corrupted, no idea.
I had a backup on my phone, but my phone happened to met its untimely demise not too long ago, so Im shit out of luck.
Lost them all the time due to faulty third party memory cards, didn't even care most of them were games I had no plan of returning to anyway.
you sure you haven't changed the filename or folder? Emulators don't usually corrupt saves like that
Try looking into your emulator's sram folder if you can still find a file named megami tensei.
What's the best way of using VGA through the Dreamcast?
There's a load of cheap vga cables of ebay which I assume aren't very good, unless someone who knows better can say otherwise.
There are some more expensive cables, but I'm not sure where a good place to buy these are, want somewhere where I know they will be better than the cheap version.
Then there are the boxes, mostly third party because the official ones are just a stupid price now. I know the advantage of these is you can switch between inputs, but I think I'm right in saying they won't look or perform any better.

>There's a load of cheap vga cables of ebay which I assume aren't very good
they are good. Unless you want more connections in handfull you should just get a one of those cheap ones

Hi
I have a HTPC setup on a Plasma TV with every single NES, SNES and Mega Drive game ever made. Emulation may not be 100% perfect but it's probably at least 99.9% perfect.
Guys, I gotta say, I'm having so much fun. It's like I'm having the time of my life. These games have so much depth, so much playability. I actually look forward to getting home. I know I can spend dozens of hours each on scores of games, because there is enough content, challenge and fun available there. It really makes you realise how shit modern 'retro' games are. The games of the 80s and 90s weren't going for the retro feel they were going all out to be great games.
But there is a problem amongst all this. A growing sense of guilt, because I didn't pay. I had a decent cartridge collection back in the day but I long since sold it.
The thing is it would be impossible for the entire ROM set to be released as a commercial product. Too many legal hurdles, especially so for licensed games. It would just be impossible. Maybe they could bring something out for $XXXX dollars... I might even consider that because the value is there.
I feel conflicted. On one hand, copyright is bullshit created by government to protect corporations, on the other hand, so much craftmanship, care and hard work went into making these game and I am enjoying the fruits of that without giving anything back.
None of the money that would go to buying any of these games would go toward any of the original creators, just the companies that are cashing in on rereleasing them. Piracy is only ethical.
you wouldn't be able to in a lot of those cases. go ahead and pay for whatever when you get the opportunity but there is no easy way for any of your money or support to reach the original devs.
If the game you pirated is older than 20 years, it should be in public domain anyway, since 90% of money publisher receives in the first year after release of the game.
goddamn it, i just realized this guys name is day-day-day, not dee-dee-dee.
>>4156146
In Japanese, yeah, though in English I'm pretty sure that dee-dee-dee is acceptable and even how the Smash Bros announcer says it in English. Also, fun fact, DeDeDe's name makes more sense when you you know that Kirbys original name was PoPoPo.
No, it's Dedede. Not Daydayday or Deedeedee.
Did the Twelve Tales Conker ROM ever surface?

Nope its gone forever

FUUUUUUUUUUCK!!! Why did that poor guy have to die on us.

It will be on the N64 Classic.
