Title says it all. Discuss flashcarts and other ways to play all your *ahem* game backups.
Anyone know anything about the Famicom Everdrive? Is there a cheaper knockoff version like pic related and the ED64Plus? I'm also considering just getting some multicarts; I found a 480 in 1 + a 150 in 1 on eBay for around $10. Do you guys have any multicarts you'd recommend?
BTW, I can review and post pictures of my Super UFO Pro 8 or my ED64Plus if anyone's interested.

This is my current flash cart collection, but I'm considering a TG16 flash cart as well. Anyone else know how that works with CD games? I assume I can burn the disc and use the flash cart for the other half?
>>4116586
You overpaid
Shoulda went for the Chinese carts they work just fine
I love my everdrive x5 for gba (also emulates gb, gbc, and nes so its retro)
Why doesn't the ps1 have any affordable way to load games off a sd card, hdd,or usb?
Ps1 laser drives are failing left and right.
Is there no push because ps3 or ps2 do ps1 better?
Emulation probably.
>>4160690
Because while this may shock you Sony wasn't in the business of making their system play anything outside their games
>>4160690
I thought I once saw a SD card mod that was kind of affordable, but that was before the current gen released and ps3's were expensive still. I thought modded ps2's could play ps1 games anyways and at that point why bother with a ps1 unless you're getting it for autistic collector reasons.
Hey /vr/. I'm looking for any games with a certain type of feel to them. Basically anything with a cool-looking city at night, but especially with heavy neon aesthetics. I guess the term for it is Outrun, but I never really understood how it got that name.
Palm trees are good too.
Ive made sure all this works and it still doesnt, what gives /vr/?
>>4158779
how do i map z to my games folder?
>>4158764
what exactly are you trying to do? DOS is piss easy, and you DO realize that DOSbox supports drag and drop right? so just get your game/application folder (or straight up program) and drag it into the DOSbox icon. Here are some common commands
to change drives just type it
ex:
c:\
a:\
to change to a subdirectory use CD
ex:
cd c:\example\test
this will take you to the "test" folder
to change back type
cd c:\
to copy files type COPY
ex:
copy c:\example\test\program.exe a:\
this'll copy program.exe to drive a:\ which would normally be a floppy drive on real hardware
just apply this to everything else
del is for delete
ren is for renaming
ex: ren program.exe testpro.exe
>>4158802
whoops, I forgot an important one
to see all the files inside of a directory, use dir
ex:
dir c:\example\test
to get a better view type dir /w
What shmups have interesting scoring systems?
I love games that let you play around with the mechanics to score however you want, like with the beach balls of Cotton Boomerang, suiciding, bombing, and medaling in Battle Garegga, or, of course, reflecting shots in Mars Matrix.
Are there any non-shmups that actually have interesting scoring systems?
Yeah. Progear. It's very interesting how they encourage you to switch up your playstyle with it.
Suiciding in Garegga isn't really score related, but rank related, in Bakraid meanwhile suicide is an actual score mechanic since it stops the multiplier timer
>>4158246
I wish I liked Progear more, but the music is just so boring that I can't get into it.
Anyone else tired of companies releasing definitive versions of retro classics on handhelds?
Not really. The fact is that old Sega game ports were selling on the 3DS and M2 figured they could take the opportunity to make great games even better. They should release these versions on Steam but until Sega sees the light I'm just grateful they exist. I have some incredible ports of Hang-On and Out Run.I'm probably a little biased because I really think 3D improves those classic raster racers

Can anyone name this mapset? it had
2 episodes, the first one was in a regular techbase and the other was in an arctic techbase. the first map had a large water plant section and lasers you had to disable, and an explosive wall near the end. There was an also an optional weapon set, Anyone know what i'm talking about?

Winter's Fury?
Why does the Amiga suck so bad?
>doesn't have anything consoles don't
>games perform at or less than their console counterpart, or worse
>game already exists on console AND looks worse on amiga
>countless immemorable shmups
>countless nonsensical click-around games
Literal shit covered in glitter in the truest sense of the expression
>>4155379
The Amiga is the best computer with the best games, fuck off ya cunt.
>>4155382
My point still stands -- more than half the games pictured have an equivalent or better on a console
>>4155379
it's funny how amiga games are similar to shitty cell phone games now so it's like decades upon decades of being awful
oh hey there /vr/
I recently started to appreciate retroarch. Works perfectly (on my small GPD WIN) and i am very happy about it. As long as i play with one gamepad everything is fine. As soon as i introduce a second gamepad all the buttons i configured are messed up on both controllers. Only messed with NES roms so far; i expected there to be the least problems because there are so little buttons to worry about. Any advice?
>>4154332
Id like to know this too. It was an issue when i last tried it over a year ago.
>>4154342
The program came a long way since then. Supposedly i can have a variety of gamepads preconfigured and it autodetects which one i am actually using in a given moment. If i understand it correctly:
-every controller has a retroarch config (Basically around the SNES-controller layout with 2 analogsticks and L2, R2, L3, R3 buttons)
-every core can have a different layout on top of the standard retroach config
(I did this. I changed A and B button to be on B and Y so it is more comfy to play nes, also i mapped start and select to L and R. I was hoping every controller i then autodetect will understand this change.)
However everything is messed up. Even when i use default configs for everything, still controller 2 wants to press UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT on player 1.
>>4154332
How do you get covers like that in retroarch?
How badly do most PAL PS1 games run as compared to the NTSC version? I know some games like Crash Bandicoot were optimised decently enough, but are the majority noticeably worse?
If so, is there any decent way of getting my discs to run at 60hz? It's not the borders that bother me, just the speed at which it plays. I'm fairly certain there isn't a good way of fixing this, just wanted to make sure though.
>>4152472
They run too badly.
Yuropoor here, PAL fucking sucks. All of my games lag.
There is no hope, the refugees have won.
Mod chips are too expensive.
Just let it go, NTSC has won.
>>4152472
I used to play PAL GT2 about 10 years ago, never had a problem, never felt too slow for me.
>>4152554
It's over, man.
Of course you don't remember lags 10 years ago.
If you ever played superior, American-approved NTSC versions with 60hz and full FPS, you would never go back to yuropoor 50hz PAL.
The difference shines when you played both versions.
Once again, the country of the Free and Educated (The United States of America) has proven to be superior, compared to us yuropoors who only play poorman's versions of American games, because we have no money.
Series that mattered or seemed to matter but are now completly forgotten and dead.
Yu Suzuki said, around the time VF4 console port was released, that he wanted to top Soul Calibur with a Fighting Vipers 3, but to this day the series remain dead.
Fighters Megamix is too good to be forgotten
>>4151163
Fighters Megamix isn't Fighting Vipers.
>>4151179
It is if you play it only using the FV characters.
I picked up the original SMB via the game boy advance classic NES series to play on my gamecube GBA player... It won't let me pick up koopa shells... Am I losing my mind or can you not pickup shells in Mario bros 1 (1985)?
Only when they're upside down
IIRC that was only introduced in 2.
