Does anyone remember being able to go in another passage in Goron City, that leads behind Medigoron? I swear it used to be possible

If you get behind there, you get to play as Zelda.

is it REALLY the best RPG ever or are saturnfags just trying to compensate? I am a saturnfag and I dislike RPGs, but this one looks pretty cool

The only people calling it the "best RPG ever" are people trying to sell a copy.

well I've got a modchip and an action replay, I'm just curious to see what you guys think
>>
It's rare and there are no other RPGs like it but obviously "best" is subjective

I want to get into the old dungeon crawler type of game after all the recent Grimoire memery.

Which Wizardry should i play? There's like eight of them, and are they as ridiculously hard as that one meme picture of the party encounter with stupendously strong monsters that all could 1-hit kill your party?

I'm accustomed to old, clunky games, so intuitiveness won't be a problem.

Just start with the first, fifth, or sixth for Wizardry

It's generally easy to get everything together for the PC 88, PC 98, or DOS versions of those games. Also most Jap versions of Wizardry have english modes.
>>
>>4164525
Wizardry 6-8 trilogy is pretty great, though different than 1-5. There is an automap mod for 6 if you wish, and it also works for 7 DOS version so that you don't need to keep going into your inventory to check your map. Use that instead of playing GOLD.

Billions of years ago a large object collided with the earth resulting in debris which formed the moon and tilting the earth slightly on its axis. This tilt causes one hemisphere to be exposed to more sunlight and as earth rotates around the sun this alternates between the northern and southern. This causes the seasons we experience. It is currently summer in the northern hemisphere, hence this thread.

Some idiots overbidding. Though I really can't grasp why anyone would pay more than a few bucks for a loose Mario World.

Pic unrelated, I just like The Dark Crystal.

tetris, pong, space invaders and pacman?

I know pacman has no levels after 255 and it screws with the game from then on. Lots of old games have something like that. It's called a kill screen.

How do i go about opening the controller up if 2 of the screws are rusted to hell? They arent even cross shaped, more like circles now.
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
only option is a drill with a thin tip, carefully drilling until you break the screw, it will not work again obviously.
>>
>>4164385
You're pretty fucked. You can drill out the heads, and then pop it off, and unscrew the now headless screws using pliers.

Otherwise, unless the controller is broken, just leave it closed.

So I just finished Dark Souls and I know it's probably trite at this point, but I'm looking for retro games that have a world that starts to feel like home.
It doesn't have to be like Super Metroid or Dark Souls, it could be a hub world that's filled with secrets or your favorite setting in an RPG. Lesser-known titles are appreciated.

I need some NES games to play. JJ Games seems to have good prices, are they legit?
Also where are some good places to buy classic carts?

Their prices aren't terrible.

On eBay iirc it's free shipping to Canada so I've bought some stuff from them and it was fine.

Is there somewhere else with better prices?

<Semi-portable.
<Full Genesis library.
<AV output so you could use it as an actual console.
<2nd controller port so you could plug in a real Genesis controller for two player action.
<Awesome D-pad.
<After the initial high launch price Sega slashed the price to $79 just months later....making it cheaper than a non-portable Genesis and yet people kept buying the normal Genesis in decent amounts for years where as the Nomad tanked.

Were we all just caught up in PS1 and Saturn hype or did Sega do that bad of a job marketing it as a legit Genesis console replacement?

<30 minutes battery life
>>
>>4164167
It was yet another expensive piece of hardware that took away resources that Sega should have focused on Saturn. Their ecosystem was way too fucking crowded at the time, with Genesis, Game Gear, Sega CD, 32X, and Saturn.
>>
>>4164194
But it wasn't expensive for Sega. They already had a portable Genesis with no screen, the Nomad was probably easy as hell for them to create. And no one looking at a Saturn would have been confused by the Nomad. It's like saying the Gameboy distracted from Nintendo's main consoles.

This thing confused the fuck out of me so much as a kid. I couldn't have been older than 4 or 5, I could barely read, and I had never played an RPG before, so I didn't understand the joke they were making about the Run command, to me it was just a random series of images that made no sense.

No actual nightmares though.

idk, everything in that image is easy to read, including the two kanji. Do you have a screenshot of something you had trouble with?

So I'm going on a trip to Japan and I probably won't be able to hold back when I see some /vr/ shops. Maybe you guys can recommend something? Pic related is Super Potato

But also I'm retarded and I don't know if retro consoles will work when I'll bring them back. I can't connect Famicom to my PAL/NTSC crt right? Are there any console that will work or games I can play on EU consoles?
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Super Potato is way overpriced, only chumps shop there.

If your TV can handle an NTSC signal, then there's no reason Japanese consoles shouldn't work with it. You'll still need a converter for the power though, obviously.
>>
Pretty much everything 4th gen onward will work with modern TVs no problem as I understand it, as long as you get a power converter as >>4163708 says. I got a Jap PSone from the Ikebukuro super potato and it worked just fine when I got it home. You might want to look into RGB SCART leads though.

I can recommend the Mandarake and Book-Off stores in Akihabara; I got a few nice PS1 titles in the latter, and a friend of mine got a bunch of cool shit in the former.
>>
What happend to that anon who lived in Japan and occasionally posted images about his finds and stuff? Maybe he can help you out.

Like >>4163708 said, Super Potato is overpriced shit. They have a lot of stuff there, but only worth it if you are rich enough.

This is the single best Mario game ever conceived, even if it is just a rom hack of a different game.
>majority of mario related characters originate from 2
>first to feature four characters
>unique landscapes
>interesting mechanics
>fun bosses
>the pinnacle of drug trip gaming
There are no flaws.

>"fun bosses"

oh you mean throwing objects at it until it dies

also how you fight Birdo like 7 times, that's really fun

and the final boss being an absolute pushover that just stands there and waits for you to throw shit at him, so much fun amirite
>>
It was different in a good way. They did a good job adapting it.

That's what you get when you facewash a game. I'd say this is the same reason why people love the new zelda. Not a 'classic' zelda, but this risk allowed to include new stuff outside the canon.
