Why are they half Normal? If they have powers of other elements, they're not normal.
>>
>normal eagle that flies
>normal giraffe with psychic half
>normal beaver that spits water
>normal deer with tree antlers
>normal bunny that digs
>normal lion that spits fire
>normal lizard that conducts electricity
>normal fat pink bunny with huge eyes
It wasn't that hard
>>
>>25085060
>pink trio of Gen 1 still just fine, even in Gen 6
>>
>>25085087
Again, if they have powers of other elements, they're not normal. Only Pidgeot makes sense with a quick look, but then you realize eagles can't create hurricanes.
>>
>>25085102
Because pure types are like, MADE OF those elements
>>
>>25085158
I doubt Golduck and Blastoise are made of water.
>>
The reason Tornadus is the only pure Flying type is because it's a wind god

Pidgeot is a bird, so it's more than just "Flying"
>>
Normal is a body type, the kind that can perform attacks like Rock Climb, Doubleslap, Stomp, Horn Attack. But I can't explain why attacks like Moonlight are Normal.

Almost all Water-type Pokemon can learn to shoot water and ice. But most of them are just sea creatures.
>>
>>25085191
Moonlight is Fairy.
>>
Because it triggers your autism
>>
>>25085191
>But I can't explain why attacks like Moonlight are Normal.
It got retconned to Fairy-type this gen.
>>
>>25085158
Except they're not?
Rotom is the only Electric pokémon that can be considered "made of" electricity.
Same with Manaphy for Water.
While many Grass pokémon are indeed made of plants, there are tons that are just animals with plants stuck on them too.
And so on.
>>
>>25085191
Moonlight was changed to Fairy.
>>
>>25085181
Could you have picked a worse example? We're all made of water.
>>
>>25085060
So my fighting types can kick their asses
>>
>>25085210
>Humans are Water types
>>
>arcanine and pansear are made of fire
>>
>>25085205
Well the only pure flying are made of air, despite whatever they appear as. Vaporeon can turn into pure water.
And so on.
>>
I don't get why you put girafarig there. The whole point is that half of it is normal and the other half is a weird mirrored abomination with a second brain
>>
>>25085222
>>25085229
>implying they aren't
Feeble human perception
>>
>>25085253
I love that tail
>>
>>25085231
>Well the only pure flying are made of air
It's riding a cloud, it's not made out of "pure air" any more than the rest of it's trio, and even then using the typing that only has one pure member as an example shows that you have a weak case.
>Vaporeon can turn into pure water.
Yes a few are made of their element or can completely turn into them, but they are hardly the majority and many pokémon that are not made of their typing are still pure typed.
>>
>>25085292
There's no way you can know that
>>
>>25085060
I always thought Pyroar was Normal so it could receive STAB off of sound-based moved like Hyper Voice.
>>
This guy is rock. He may LOOK LIKE a TREE to you, but he is completely, solid rock
>>
>>25085309
That Tornadus body is not made out of pure air?
Well the fact that it weights something should prove that fairly easily.
>>
>>25085324
>air doesn't weigh anything
OH OKAY
>>
>>25085324

Oxygen has weight you mongoloid.
>>
>>25085060

It means they're strong at using basic physical attacks and forces with no elemental properties. Hence Normal STAB.
>>
>>25085333
>>25085335
Which leads to the question how the fuck do they weigh pokemon in a vacuum? I guess in the ball
>>
>>25085333
>>25085335
I'm assuming the weight is tared in air before pokemon are measured. A pokémon made out of pure air would show up as 0 then.
>>
>>25085313
Ah that's cool. I saw litleo and didn't catch, but then I saw the gender difference and well now I have to remember where that was
>>
>>25085407
That would apply to levitate as well, so maybe they meant to put mass
>>
>>25085323
sudowoodo has a nice ass
>>
>>25085313
>giving typings for STAB reasons
I very much hope not
>>
>>25085087
>normal fat pink bunny with huge eyes
I'm sorry, I missed the "normal" in there.
>>
>>25085060
Because their powers over those elements are comparatively weak and limited, such that they can generally pass off as normal.

In the case of normal/flying, that's just because flying is a verb. Tornadus only gets a pass because they wanted to use the typing for something.
>>
>>25085060
All birds are part Normal because Pure Flying isn't a thing, aside from one Legendary that's more or less an air elemental.
Girafarig is a gimmick.
Badoof, Sawsbuck, Diggersby, and Heliolisk are defined more by being normal than their minor elemental abilities.
Pyroar and Igglybuff are Normal because they're defined in part by their proficiency with sound based attacks, almost all of which fall under Normal type.

Also, if you strictly followed the rule
>If they have powers of other elements, they're not normal
then no Pokemon would be Normal type, since practically all of them can create a highly potent poison, despite not being poison type.
>>
>>25085210
That's my favourite Yoko Ono song.
>>
>>25085060
Pokémon Biology logic.
>>
>>25085201
Literally this

Also because the makers thought they deserved normal type STAB
>>
>>25087113
To be fair, Pokemon that primarily attack through Sound probably should have Normal STAB, unless they already have two types.
>>
>>25087027
Toxic is a ninjutsu, not a natural secretion.
>>
>>25087151
>All Pokemon can use ninjutsu
That's even dumber.
>>
>>25085060
normal animal with flight is reasonable. a psychic giraf with a not psychic butt is reasonable. A normal lizard that can only use solar power rather than generating its own electricity is convoluted but doable. The others are all retarded.
>>
A lot only have their foot in the door of weird and are *relatively normal like creatures from earth sans lots of training. Maybe.

I think humans would be a Normal dual type as well for similar reasons.
>>
>>25085102
You can't argue this for Girafarig, though. It's clearly half Psychic (the giraffe part) and half Normal (the chain-chomp part). Sure, you could argue that the chain-chomp should be Dark based on Girafarig's movepool and the tail's appearance, but Noraml also works. Mega Giraffe is Psy/Dark in my headcanon, with the tail forming a menacing-looking doppelganger portion for the giraffe side
>>
>>25085210
Complete wrong. Is a water bottle or sponge made of water? No, and a human body isn't either.
>>
>>25087884
Wait, I thought the chomp was psychic and the giraffe was normal
>>
>>25087919
the tail is the one with the tiny brain
>>
Helioptile and Pyroar are half normal to contrast with their electric/dragon and fire/poison megas, which are a dragon and chimera respectively. The normal subtype illustrates their transformation from real animal to mythological creature.

Giraffes are said to be able to see in the future because of how tall they are (allows them to see over the horizon), hence the giraffe side being Psychic. Also, whenever you see Girafarig using Psychic moves in the anime, it's the giraffe side, while you can imagine the other side uses Bite, Crunch, maybe even Headbutt, etc.

>Its tail has a small brain of its own. Beware! If you get close, it may react to your scent and bite.
>Its tail, which also contains a small brain, may bite on its own if it notices an alluring smell.
>When it is in danger, its tail uses some sort of mysterious powers to drive away the enemy.

>Girafarig's rear head also has a brain, but it is small. The rear head attacks in response to smells and sounds. Approaching this Pokémon from behind can cause the rear head to suddenly lash out and bite.
>Girafarig's rear head contains a tiny brain that is too small for thinking. However, the rear head doesn't need to sleep, so it can keep watch over its surroundings 24 hours a day.
>A Girafarig is an herbivore—it eats grass and tree shoots. While it is eating, its tail makes chewing and swallowing motions as if it were also eating.

>Its tail also has a small brain. It bites to repel any foe trying to sneak up on it from behind.
>While it sleeps, the head on its tail keeps watch. The tail doesn't need to sleep.
>The head on its tail contains a small brain. It can instinctively fight even while facing backward.

Crystal's seems weirdly out of place
>>
>>25088235
in 5th Gen Girafarig's tail doesn't close its eyes when it gets put to sleep
>>
>>25088235
>>25088278
Probably why Girafarig gets Early Bird, too. The tail's able to wake up the main body early.
>>
>>25085313
This is why Sound type should be a thing.
>>
>>25085087
Why isn't Ponyta Normal?
>>
>>25089096
It really shouldn't. Any normal thing can make sounds. You may as well ask for a claw type while you're at it
>>
>>25089131
Any normal thing can fight, yet Fighting type is a thing.
>>
>>25089138
But not every normal thing knows martial arts
>>
>>25085253

Should've been Normal/Dark desu
>>
>>25085060
the only problem i see is pyroar
girafarig is half normal half psychic, literally, so it makes sense
bibarel and diggersby evolve from a normal type and still retain some of their abilities
heliolisk is a lizard that needs to charge from the sun, so it's not perfect and not completely pure electric, more like halfway there, plus it can adapt and learn moves outside of electric like normal types usually do
sawsbuck is also only part grass because its mostly the antlers doing the grass bit, the rest of the body is normal
pidgeot is a normal bird that happens to be able to fly, unlike something like zapdos or talonflame
wigglytuff is part normal mostly to distinguish it from clefable and other pure fairies, but also to get hyper voice stab since it's a shouter (but there's no canon reason as far as i know)
pyroar is the only one that makes zero sense, but again i think it was because of hyper voice stab
>>
>>25087027
this guy gets it
>>
>>25087919
yes you're right and >>25087884 is wrong
>>
>>25088152
you forget dark type was a special type in gen II, when it was introduced
the tail side is clearly the special attacker while the front side is the physical attacker
>>
>>25089507
>raticate learned submission!
clearly that's not the case
you can know stuff and you can be ultimately specialized in it, there's a difference
>>
>>25085060
>If it flies, it's flying type, but still a normal bird
>Half the giraffe is perfectly normal, the other half is not

No excuse for the others, especially with the retarded "if it's cute, make it fairy" approach
>>
>>25085060
The typing is based off the moves they use.

A normal type uses regular animal attacks like tackle/growl/stomp/etc.
>>
>>25085445
sauce
>>
>>25088235
I guess that's why I always thought the tail was the psychic part, the only gen2 game I played was Crystal
>>
>>25089521
Psychic/Dark desu. Pink and especially yellow were the colors of visually depicting psychic in Gen 1&2
>>
>>25094404
>especially yellow were the colors of visually depicting psychic
This is why I don't consider the giraffe side to be 'normal'.
>>
>>25087963

>special Weavile

>Girafarig's rear head contains a tiny brain that is too small for thinking.

Well, great, now Girafarig's tail head creeps me out
