>GUYZ POKEMON ZEEE!!!111
let's not advertise the modern games or anything
also, a minute long? they could have concised that for much cheaper without the boring bits
It's a milestone. Calm your titties, mate.
>I-it'll be about Z!
>I-it'll be about Go!
>using Gyrados, Magneton, Charizard and M-Lucario
I can do this!
How in the world would they know what Go is when the trailer we have for Go and this only share CGi Pokemon? There was no phone interaction to indicate it was an app or anything. It's brand recognition.
Wow, so theey had to pay about 10 million$ in order to have a one minute commercial. Plus whatever the actual commercial cost. Then they were too cheap to just copy paste a Go logo at the end?
>LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS
>yfw Pokemon Z: The Anime (2.0) Edition + Pokemon GO confirmed
This is clearly a commercial aimed at those who aren't in touch with Pokémon anymore. It's not an ad about a product, it's a commercial celebrating the franchise. Don't be disappointed because it wasn't the annoucement of Z/gen 7 or a release date for Pokémon GO, it wasn't the goal of this commercial.
>those froakie eyes easter egg
Eh? Nani?! Where was that, anon-kun?
People watching the Superbowl can be. People seem to forget Go was announced late as fuck at night in America (3 PM for me East Coast best coast) and has gotten no real news since.
Theres some cool easter eggs. "Learn to Surf - HM03" poster underneath the TV. Nidoking chess piece. Flame Badge on the football helmets, 1996 on the uniforms. Moomoo Milk ad in the Japan shot.
>mfw all the autistic children on /vp/ getting triggered by a tv spot
What do you think? Does that sound like a thing they'd do?
Why would you assume I'm OP?
I just think that this is the kind of thing that'd be sticky'd, or at least, if there really is more, then the whole video when it's posted.
It's celebrating 20 years of Pokemon, I don't know about you, but to me that's not really "nothing".
That means we're getting our bros from other generations too, right?
>child playing chess with a dozen adults at once, and winning
>MFW more and more have been infected
>waaaaaaah why do people like something that isnt anime
get out degenerate filth :^)
I'm not sure what you expected out of /vp/.
Especially these days.
You are literally surrounded by children or autistic adults, what do you expected?
>I-it cuts off at the end!
It shows the 20 logo and the anniversary website, and it showed the tagline for the 20th anniversary before then. Music cutting off means jack shit.
It's also going to be cut down to 30 seconds already. There is literally nothing to show after that.
I USED TO WAKE UP EVERY MORNING TO WATCH THE ANIME AND SING ALONG THE OPENING
THEN I DROPPED THE GAME BUT I STILL REMEMBER IT BECAUSE NOSTALGIA
MY FINAL TEAM WAS AN OVERLEVELED CHARIZARD
>everything is about "memes"
Get off of 4chan for a while fuck face.
>Emboar gold design
Where is that one?
I might be able to do something about your predicament
The girl is playing a Nidoking during Chess
The football players have the Volcano Badge on their helmets
Two players have 1996 on their jerseys
Under the news report, a sign says "Learn to Surf HM03"
"Like No One Ever Was" is shown in their locker room
Moomoo Milk and Rare candy billboards
Waifufags aren't the main audience the commercial is aimed at. It's the genwunners that grew up to like Football and watch the Owl who have money to spare on their nostalgia. They wouldn't know what Gardevoir is.
I don't believe I've actually seen the majority of people *that* excited seeing Korra and Asami ended up hooking up.
Then again, I was just so "meh" at the show that I stopped caring.
I don't understand this "brand recognition" meme. How the fuck is this meant to promote the brand? It barely appeals to Pokemon fans, it's just got some references and an "action" shot of some Pokemon at the end. People never talk about the company that makes the ads after they air other than labeling it as their creation and possibly saying "Oh, they did a good job". Who looks at the Budweiser commercial and says "Gee, I feel like discussing Budweiser and its brand of beers with my friends tomorrow"? Fucking nobody. Super Bowl commercials are just companies having a masturbation contest.
And? No, I certainly wasn't expecting Z or Go or any of that, but every time I've said "this commercial was shitty and overhyped" so far outside of 4chan I'm attacked by rabid fanboys saying "BUT IT'S ABOUT BRAND RECOGNITION". And it fucking isn't.
If you haven't thought about Pokemon in ten years, and you see a Pokemon commercial, you might be more inclined to think about Pokemon. And if you're thinking about something you're more likely to talk about it. And if you're thinking and talking about a thing, you're more likely to buy it.
Do you not grasp the basics of advertising? Have you never been outside before?
However, I do agree that Pokemon GO sure is kind of slow in releasing any big news at all. If it's gonna take them this long to build hype efficiently, they should have aired the trailer at a later date.
Dude, you're fucking stupid.
Do you think companies would be willing to pour money into something like this over the course of many decades if it didn't consistently result in profits?
People on /vp/ are seriously upset that the Super Bowl ad didn't personally cater and pander to them, who think more about Pokémon in one day than most "normal" adults will in their entire lifetimes.
A whole fucking lot of you are seriously out of touch with reality.
When has this ever greatly increased profits for any company? It even says on the Wikipedia article that Super Bowl commercials are more about the meme of Super Bowl commercials in general now than actual advertising.
Nice in depth research there m8.
No shit. Both of our reports are anecdotal. >>25076148 asserted that knowledge of Pokemon is ubiquitous among people who "have Internet"; I simply wanted to illustrate that that is absolutely not the case.
>If it's gonna take them this long to build hype efficiently, they should have aired the trailer at a later date.
Why wait until later, if, in your estimation, it takes longer to build hype?
Anyway, the Super Bowl spot fulfills its purpose, as >>25076047 put it.
>all those xenoblade fanboys/nintendrones who cried on /v/ because people tore 8-4/NoA a new one
In my experience year at school and later on at work people talk about their favorite commercials during the game, ones that made them laugh, etc.
I don't know what anon wanted out of a commercial for something he's obviously already buying into at some level or another that now has him struggling to prove that the commercial was pointless or a bad idea.
WOW SUCH A DRASTIC INCREASE
This also doesn't show how many people actually went out and BOUGHT something.
I'm a different anon commenting, but alright.
And j/s I think it would be better to pull out ALL the stops in a manner of a few months, since it's easy to lose mainstream attention in such a fast flow of news and other media rising to relevancy.
the main reason it has to be go is because the commercial kicks off in a shitstain country
the whole point of go is to get pokemon into countries where nintendo products arent sold
Going off the assumption that this IS advertising GO, then it could indicate that it isn't ONLY gen 1 pokemon since mega lucario was in it, though Lucario is one of the most thoroughly shilled non-gen one pokemon, so there's that.
But if this does mean GO won't only be Gen 1, hopefully it also means it will have all 721.
Makes me wonder where I would get my favorite pokemon... I could get a scrafty just by going to downtown Baltimore, easy. Shedinja... not sure about that, maybe they would only appear when the cicada swarms happen? That'd be a nice touch. As would Porygon-Z being only attainable by torrenting a file seeded by Nintendo, but I know I'm asking too much when I expect Nintendo to synch the ability to find certain pokemon to natural events that happen once every 17 years and for them to put a file on a torrent site officially.
>not embracing diversity in women's bodies
>pandering to reactionary archetypes of how women's bodies should be
What make you think we were happy about that.
The entire show flopped to the point they stopped airing it at some point and just made the series web exclusive.
Only tumblr really cared for it, and that's why they pandered towards them.
It's not that hard to understand.
I'm guessing all the
>What's the point of them making a Pokemon commercial if it doesn't appeal to ME who is already an active customer of the Pokemon brand.
guys are the same one's who were going,
>WTF is wrong with you Nintendo what's the point of making the Nintendo 2DS when I already have a 3DS XL and would never even think of buying a smaller system with fewer features?
They seriously have trouble relating to a world outside themselves.
Its like they're genuinely autistic or something.
>implying i'm tpc
Nah mate, if I was TPC I would have actually held back on announcing Go and made the Super Bowl ad the actual official announcement, putting the teaser site online globally 60 seconds after the ad aired.
>But holy shit. Look at the Pokémon. Listen to the Nip. It was cheesy and lame.
Normies won't care. For what all they care this is just "cool". And that's the aim of the spot.
It's catering to people outside of the fanbase.
/vp/ is infested with normalfags.
I've been against the furries who want to make the board NSFW but we clearly need a purge.
Just because you greentext a number out of context and turn on caps lock doesn't mean you understand how marketing strategy works, or the cumulative impact of marginal increases in consumer interest.
Building brand loyalty is a 24/7 process for companies and advertising agencies, and feature projects like the Super Bowl are just a tent pole of broader efforts. A 6.6% increase can translate to millions, if not tens of millions of dollars of return on investment down the line. Not to mention:
>Younger viewers were most influence by the ads, with consumers under the age of 18 showing a 37.1% increase in likelihood to purchase after watching the broadcast.
Notice that the people who buy into these ads the most are youngsters such as yourself, who are on the verge of blossoming into the coveted 18-35 year-old demographic that has disposable income and a desire to spend it.
This also says nothing of the incredible boost in likelihood to purchase that an especially successful Hail Mary commercial can bring, which is naturally something that advertisers aspire to.
>And j/s I think it would be better to pull out ALL the stops in a manner of a few months, since it's easy to lose mainstream attention in such a fast flow of news and other media rising to relevancy.
Yeah this position I can understand.
I rarely ever come to /vp/ anymore, I figured I'd come here to see what you guys thought of the trailer and then catch up and check some threads.
I forgot how many tumblrinas use this place. It just makes me uncomfortable.
you know its funny, i see so many people endlessly bitching about tumblr and reddit, especially on /vp/ but since i never go on either of those sites i jsut sort of have to wonder what the fuck the people constantly trying to "call out" people from those sites are trying to prove.
It would be more:
>Dude, did you see the Pokemon commercial yesterday?
>Yeah man, I didn't even know they made Pokemon games anymore
>Neither did I, I haven't touched that shit since (sometime ~10 years ago)
And then it might make them interested in the franchise again. It might get people who weren't into the series at all to begin with curious and look into it. There are plenty of people who are in the 18-25 year old age range who have never played a Pokemon game before, for example I knew a dude who hadn't and his girlfriend got him into it. So the first time he played a game was a few years ago and he was 27 at the time.
So the point of the commercial isn't to try and pique up interest from existing fans, it's to try and get new players in and possibly bring old players back.
>all these wannabe economics majors trying and failing to claim that Super Bowl commercials are anything more than an overglorified meme
Here's a mix of both. Take your pick:
Not saying everyone is like that, but both places attract some pretty interesting crowds. Here, you won't get mobbed by the offendable types for calling a Pokemon "dicks".
This is the extended version. The actual video will be cut down to a 30 second spot, probably gonna have the kid running, the girl doing chess, then the arena with the dad going "you can do that" and end it there.
Right, because I absolutely NEED a Budweiser or NEED a GoDaddy-hosted website or NEED a Pokemon game. What I DO require is a phone. And unlike your "statistics" claim I didn't purchase this the day after the Super Bowl.
Don't try to put words into my mouth claiming I said that companies and advertising in general are bad, by the way, I never said that.
>And unlike your "statistics" claim I didn't purchase this the day after the Super Bowl.
First off, I didn't post any statistics, and even if I did, your annecdotal decision when or when not to purchase something doesn't prove or disprove shit.
Pull your head out your ass nancy, your dick smells like a dead animal.
posting her without the head? heresy
also I learned there's a 8000x8000 image of this freaking pony princess. who the fuck would need an image that big? NASA?
>OH GOD I'VE BEEN HIT BY A CAR
>WELP BETTER JUST SIT HERE DYING HOPING THAT SOMEONE ELSE WILL CALL AN AMBULANCE
>SOMEONE'S BROKEN INTO MY HOUSE WITH A GUN
>BETTER JUST SURRENDER AND LET THEM TAKE EVERYTHING
>he doesn't have his own gun
>or at the very least, a katana
Because it's easy to spot poor quality posts and who doesn't lurk, idiot. This can also be used to deduce who comes from where. This has been a forum centric thing since the advent of chatrooms.
>obeying common sense safety protocols makes you a basement dweller
>being able to protect yourself makes you a basement dweller
>common sense safety protocols makes
I just had to look up what "jaywalking" is.
You people cling to your guns cheering "freedom" but you live in a nanny state that doesn't trust you to look both ways before crossing the fucking street.
Pretty shitty ad, IMO. I thought this was pretty cool, though.
That was...THE BEST COMMERCIAL I'VE EVER SEEN!!! WOOOO!!!! GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL!!!!
I CAN DO THAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!
Indeed. This is a strategic move designed to get millions of nostalgiafags, casualfags, little kids, and even nongamers interested in Pokemon.
Also, it's Super Bowl, not Superbowl.
Not that I blame you, since they use it like a preposition....."superbowl sunday!" "superbowl commercials" "superbowl party" etc.
"Don't cross the street when it says don't walk" is pretty fucking common sense. The reason it's illegal is because you're endangering others.
>walk in the middle of a busy road
>car swerves into the other lane to avoid you
>crashes into another car
>WOOOOOW fucking Americans why can't you drive right I'm walking here
>"Don't cross the street when it says don't walk" is pretty fucking common sense.
What's common sense is not crossing the road when a fucking car is coming.
Go ahead, thump your chest about European "nanny states" while living in a country where the government needs to put up special "don't walk" signs to stop you wandering in front of oncoming cars.
>New TV commercial to celebrate Pokémon's 20th anniversary.
>Butthurt arguments about pedestrian traffic laws and people trying to prove that advertisements don't actually help with advertising things.
How do you live with yourselves?
NORMIE GET OUT
What we're you expecting from a board about pokemon? Actual pokemon conversations? Those don't happen here
But also, like some anon pointed out, there is no mobile in the commercial or the pokemon thing for GO. I agree with you in the style of the animation and the general advert and the adventure and travelling thing. But GO didn't show anything past gen 1 and it throws mega lucario suddenly? I don't know my african american brother, I don't know.
