One nice detail I noticed is they added sprint animations to this game.
I expected them to just increase the animation walk speed lazily but they actually did seperate sprint animations.
>mfw using a Pure Seed or being exactly one-two tiles away from the Stairs
>mfw simply using a Petrify Orb and then running off for the Stairs
Why the fuck am I getting no new missions? Only have 701 species of Pokemon, but the last 19 aren't in my Friend Orb and I have no new missions anywhere. Cave completion rate is 100%.
How am I supposed to get Arceus?
I'm never surprised by this because I can always tell who's pulling my leg and who's serious
by which unconnected pokemon are near them. If they have similar mons near them, it's legitimate. If none of the mons near are similar, then it's a trap.
Almost takes the fun out of it. Doesn't matter either way since I'll always have a couple of Petrify Orbs with me, but still.
Well /pmdg/, I'm interested in know who's the most/least popular Starter/Partner in the whole PMD saga, so soon I'll do a poll about it so we could see who's the favorite Pokemon as a Starter/Partner. I won't do the poll here on /pmdg/, but on /vp/.
Am I correct in assuming the satiated looplet has like three emera slots? I'm sicking of burning through five apples in fifteen-floor dungeons, but a hunger-nullifying item seems too good to be true.
Nope, just two. Just bring a ton of Emera-Up Orbs where you would bring apples. You'll need less on the long dungeons and you'll get your inventory space back immediately. Did I mention you have to go through a 44-floor dungeon to get it, filled with stupidly strong enemies? Because that's a thing.
It has two emera slots, but if you're roofed up its worth it. And it's great for long dungeons, although you should still bring 1-2 apples for pokemon that need them to be rescued, also in case you hit a sticky trap and it stickies your satiate looplet which happened to me. And before people point out it's my own fault for no cleanse orb, I didn't have anymore.
Reposting ITT because you're dumb.
Time to choose your favorite PMD Starter/Partner.
This time Red and Blue Rescue Team.
I want to know who is the most/least popular Starter/Partner so I decided to make this poll.
Poll Anon here
OK. I decided to post the links here on /pmdg/. Here they are:
Red and Blue Rescue Team
Explorers of Sky
Gates to Infinity
Super Mystery Dungeon
>7 Power Boosts (with one of the opposite) and 1 Type Bulldozer
>mfw STABbing everything into oblivion because STAB is stronger than Super Effective without STAB
When you're making a Team Preset, you can Sort Pokemon by Evolution, which is actually National Pokedex Mode. While it might be tedious, you can match up your current Pokemon List with the actual National Pokedex and see what you're missing.
>After epilogue, visit Meowth
FUCK ME IN THE ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Okay thanks Anon. Time to go through and see who I'm missing.
Sky is the emerald/crystal to time and darkness.
I'm not sure what the differences between time and darkness are though. I don't think it's anything major, probably just the mons/items you can find in dungeons.
What are the main differences?
I'm too dumb to figure out emulating games... I've tried before and ended up downloading a virus. Is there a specific website that I can emulate games from safely?
>I'm too dumb to figure out emulating games... I've tried before and ended up downloading a virus. Is there a specific website that I can emulate games from safely?
Just grab the .zip right there in the OP. I got it together myself, and tested the roms, they should work.
The main differences?
>everything is recruitable without external help
>Spinda's Cafe in town, lets you make drinks to buff your party up and recycle items you dont want for items and tickets to a drawing that can have VERY good items
>Secret Bazaar, home to a few shops inside dungeons, one of which can sell you random items that can be stuff like Joy Seeds and Vitamins
>Special Episodes that expand on the story of multiple characters
Oh yeah, totally forgot that was in the OP.
Sounds like the differences between the games is pretty big.
I'll be checking those out, I'd like to figure this stuff out more.
There is 2 kinds of outcomes from boss fights in this game
>"ohh you were just here to check it out, it is just a misunderstanding"
>"i am so sorry, here my connection orb number now you can use me forever
>boss revives somehow and beats your ass in animaton
>then you wonder what was the point of the fight if i was gonna lose anyway?
well it's not like you have to develop the emulator yourself. I suggest you to lurk GBAtemp (and from there related sites if you find some that you think might be useful) so you know what you can do and where to look for stuff like this
And don't forget
>Think it's a boss fight
>Nah, I just wanted to meet you face to face. Here's my connection Orb!
>Had to go through some bullshit gauntlet just for that
>No boss fight or anything
>Just a "Hello neighbour! Here's my number in case of emergencies!"
And then there's
>it's a "Slowly beat down their health while they eat away through your Reviver Seeds and Oran Berries" Fight
And the worst part is,
The Final Boss is guilty as fuck of doing this.
>entei fight(you beat him then he revives so you have to evolve)
>the fight in the voidland with the little black sludges
And as far as i remember, after you beat beedrill or gabite, it revive again and as it almost attacks you, some other pokemon comes and explain the situation.
And i haven't even finished the game
I had an easier time with the final boss that Mewtwo. Mewtwo is just bullshit followed by added bullshit so you have extra strength bullshit for your bullshit
Good for crops
Got it to work once I figured out I had to open Desmume.exe first.
Can most emulators work on desmume? Or do I have to download multiple emulators since some games aren't available for certain ones? (I'm guessing)
I wouldn't know, I'm
still doing exactly what I said earlier except now I need to grind Pelipper Island for more Berries and Seeds since the stockpile I have isn't enough to keep up with the constant 2-Hit Kills
An emulator for a system will run almost, if not EVERY game for it.
Just open Desmume, locate the Sky ROM, and open it up. If you can't find it just drag the rom for Sky onto the icon for Desmume, it'll open automatically.
>all this good taste in partners
i thought i was the only one
Since you don't seem to know much about emulators
no offense to you at all, we were all new at one pointyou can save via savestates. You can use these at any time, and you can load them at any time. Think of it like having a bunch of save files that you can save and load even mid conversation
Emulators also generally have a fast forward button, which does exactly what it says, speeds the game up. Useful if you need to open up a ton of treasure chests in a row or buy a ton of Grab Bags
I was gonna send a link of the emulator to a friend, but I'm gonna get him to play leaf green/fire red instead of a dungeon game. How do I tell which emulator is the best when downloading for emulators for other systems?
>The Final Boss is guilty as fuck of doing this.
Dark Matter fight is only like that if you stay close to it because it uses the "smack everyone in radius" attack that chews through your seeds.
You're supposed to snipe it from far away, then the attacks are more manageable.
Generally, I go with VBA, 1.8.0 looks like the most current proper release, but i've heard No$GBA is decent,
Maybe someone else in here can pick out the better one, never tried the latter
Another one(im playing as i monitor this thread btw)
>you defeat beheeyem
>he revives in animation
>your partner comes and saves you by tackling the guy
I swear, every fucking boss batle is like this.
and then he fucking goes
>UHH I AM ACTUALLY GOOD GUY I WAS RUNNING FROM THE BAD GUYS
>it is just a misunderstanding
WHAT THE F*CK IS UP WITH THE BOSS BATTLES OF THIS FRICKING GAME???
>Dark Matter fight is only like that if you stay close to it because it uses the "smack everyone in radius" attack that chews through your seeds.
>Tfw that always missed me
>Tfw my partner would take the blow as well
>Tfw it usually took two hits to down us
>Tfw shit-ton of oran berries
I used probably 3 reviver seeds during that fight. and that was because Dark Matter
>How do I tell which emulator is the best when downloading for emulators for other systems?
There's not really a way to understand it from a bunch of results in a search engine or a list of emulators. I suggest you to read about it once in a while so you're informed. >>>/vg/emugen/, >>/vg/hbg/ and GBAtemp can be some good places to look at once in a while (at the cost of being popular places they're also full of shitposting). You don't need to lurk them continously, but doing this will get you to know this kind of stuff when you need it.
I use VBA when I need a GBA emulators, but if I'm lazy NO$GBA works too. mGBA is being developed, with the goal of being as close as possible to the actual GBA, so this might become better than VBA in the future.
I just downloaded the vba emulator, but it only came with the .exe. Is this incorrect?
Also, I downloaded Fire red, but when I try to open it in the emulator, it just cycles between a few percentage numbers but never loads.
Should I just take this over to >>>/vg/emugen/ ?
If you're lucky enough then you can find apples in the dungeon as you go. Bring four or five just in case though, and switch leaders when you get hungry if you need to conserve apples for whatever reason. And good luck, Heart Lake has some great music.
I'm playing Exploers of Sky on a r4i and was wondering if their was a way to make the bottom screen the top screen through a action replay code or a romhack?
Main reason being my top screen on my n3DS is a IPS screen while the bottom is TN
Not especially. Consider it as you would Platinum to D/P or Emerald to R/S.
You might want to grab an emulated copy from the OP, download a completed save file, and play through the Special Episodes, I guess.
>tfw just went up right next to
Dark Matterand smacked its shit in both phases and used a pounce wand whenever it pushed me away
How do people have so much trouble with it? I only used 3 or 4 reviver seeds the whole fight and beat it on my first try while only being level 25.
Maybe I just got lucky with RNG and it didn't use the sweeping move on me as much as some other people, but it was still a pretty easy fight.
So, what was your Destiny Tower team? Who made the ascent?
If you didn't use your player and your partner, how dare you?
Eh. I'm not denying that Chespin's a good fit for the partner, because they are, but Fennekin's better just because they can snipe past you when you're leading the way, and can cover your ass from a distance.
Unfortunately no. I tried this because somehow I ended up back in Lively Town as Chesnaught/Blastoise after losing a fighting during a boss or some shit and I couldn't learn move tutor stuff only available to those forms.
>how do I see the enemy's health?
>is the number of enemies on each floor static?
No. The initial number of Pokémon on a floor is random, and each turn there's a chance of the game generating a new 'mon somewhere on the floor, so it's quite variable.
Anons, any tips for getting through the destiny tower mission?
Step 1: Satiated Looplet, with Emera-Up Orbs for same. Parters can take any looplet they want, though I would suggest some of the stat-boosting treasures, or maybe the Mist Looplet if you have a readily spammable move.
Step 2: Max Elixirs. You're gonna need 'em.
Step 3: Reviver Seeds. If you think you have enough, you don't have enough and you should feel bad for thinking you have enough.
Step 4: Petrify Orbs. Probably around 3, or possibly more (though you can probably nab a Petrify, Totter, Slumber, or Foe-Seal Orb somewhere between Houses if you run out). Don't wanna get fucked up by a random Monster House near the end, now do you?
Step 5: Stayaway, Petrify, and Warp Wands. Most useful tools in the game for single targets. Throw in a few Pounce Wands if you still have space.
Step 6: Pray to Arceus that it's feeling benevolent enough to let you up.
There's not much else to it besides that. If it beats you, choose "give up" and it will spawn you and your partner in a room that takes you to it and its health is the same as it was before you lost.
>Zap Cannon is the only ranged electric attack that doesnt hit the entire room
>mfw recruiting a metric ton of Pokemon before I actually do any Epilogue Dungeons solely because of all the Letter Deliveries I did
>mfw recruiting even more in a single Dungeon because of my Mission Backlog in other continents
Traveling Pokemon are great and all, but it's really annoying not being able to get a mon you want without randomly finding it.
Just imagine. Masquerain naturally learns Ominous Wind, Silver Wind, and Quiver Dance. Add Blizzard by TM and you've won.
>ominous wind and silver wind
>mfw it has both of these when you run into it in ZIS
I wrote Field Journal, that in itself explains it
Please help, I'm in the Cape of Wonders and I already failed 2 of my chances.
here's your rescue QR code. i included a reviver seed in the letter
pmd is getting into my dreams fuck
I had a dream that there was a dungeon in PSMD where you could actually recruit Pokemon but the catch was that every room in it was a Monster House and most enemies had looplets and could use ridiculous items.
It apparently had a name that made it seem easy and I remember also in the dream coming onto 4chan to rant about it.
weird, because i had a dream about PMD last night as well.
except i was convincing someone who absolutely HATED pokemon to try it out. i explained the game in detail and showed them a few dungeons and surprisingly, they liked it a lot and bought a copy for themselves.
i have no idea why this happened or what prompted this, but immediately after that i had another dream where i was pulling worms out of my arms.
so that's a thing.
Only dream I had in the same situation was years ago. It was actually fresh after Explorers came out.
My partner and I finished exploring the entire continent. I was a teenager at the time so
yes of course it ended extremely lewdly on sharpedo bluff.
I don't remember much else about it. Its hard to remember a dream unless its significant.
Anyone else have to rescue themselves with their nukes? I was contemplating using them last time a dungeon kicked my ass but I got hit with the old "but I might need them later" and the guys I went with just barely made the rescue in time.
>Whismur used Astonish!
>Shedinja took 34 damage!
>Whismur evolved into Loudred
What the hell, those are both enemies on this floor. I was in the same room as them, but on the other side. I had no idea that they would ever attack each other if they weren't confused or something.
Shedinja attacks nothing, not even you. Think of it as the only "neutral" pokemon
Enemies attack it to evolve.
I just get the image that shedinja wants to be alone but keeps getting bullied
>tfw I turned Shedinja into a monstrous machine of death
>run into Exeggcute
>attack it without equipping Friend Bow
recruit it anyways
>skitty is level TWENTY-TWO
>on floors where the second strongest pokemon are level 15
Spite could be nice because it effectively neuters bosses. Shadow Ball is always nice to have. I guess you could use Shadow Sneak over Spite if you only want attacking moves + hone claws (or you just want another physical move). Phantom Force is strong, too, and it's especially good for the leader since most enemies will walk into it.
>having to manage to survive multiple Level 22 Skitty that pack Attract in case Cute Charm doesn't kick in, Sing to annoy you even more, Assist to randomly pull a move from any of the other Pokemon on that floor, and worst of all Doubleslap which will likely KO you multiple times due to STAB and Multihit Moves being retardedly overpowered
At least Joyous Tower lets you bring Items, but holy fuck.
Fuck SMD is a lot harder than the previous ones, or maybe it's only because I insist on using my hero and partner.
Is there any good way to grind levels so that I don't get fuckled by everything?
If you aren't Post-Epilogue yet, there aren't really ways to grind because of how quickly the game pushes you to progressing the story.
But you can access Pelipper Island at any time once you gain access to it, where you can go through dungeons with your other Pokemon to acquire items and give them EXP.
Best part of it is those items will go to storage when you leave Pelipper Item so you can use them in the Main Game.
same here. This is my first MD game and coming from the main series I was shocked at the difficulty level of even some of the early chapters. You can usually go through the main games blindfolded but here I constantly have to think about my item distribution, battle placement etc.
FIRST MOTHERFUCKING SKITTY JOINS
FUCK YOU JOYOUS TOWER, I'M DONE WITH YOU
The reason i evolved the Exeggcute and Skitty i had was because i was afraid of this. It's sad i dont even know this because I'm the guide writer for the OP.
I can't see anything against it online, and I'm not down with leveling a Ponyta 39 goddamned levels or grinding a Chansey's IQ. I'm just going to
wishfor those two to be recruitable via doing this
Congratulations to the winners of Red/Blue Rescue Team poll.
Chespin and Fennekin are widely regarded as the best, due to Chespin's Pin Missile and Rollout and Fennekin's early Psybeam and general sniping ability. Either works for the partner's personality, too (though personally I prefer the doggo). As for the player, I see a lot of people going Snivy/Fennekin - Snivy's got good short-range moves, but near-zero sniping capability. Otherwise, just do whatever. You can beat the game with practically anything, although Riolu's a bit of a hard sell due to learning barely any moves by TM and nothing by level-up past 15 (except Screech, which is useless) in levels you'll achieve in the game. I would also recommend against Froakie, because despite how much I like Froakie's design, the level-up moves, the egg/bonus moves, and the given stat spread are...not internally consistent.
>six star exploration mission in snowy cave
>decide to bring heatran to help out against ice types
>get in the dungeon and it's water types
>only ice types are walrein and dewgong with thick fat
>the only items on the ground are plain looplets
>proceed to rage for 17 straight floors
I saved this a while ago, I don't know if anything's changed since then though
>look at these opinions, they're the truth! i can get /pol/ to confirm it if you don't believe it because le /pol/ is always right meme!
Just go with your favourites.
Vacuum Wave/Quick Attack/Force Palm/Bite is decent enough to get through, especially if you have a Long-Range Attacker like Charmander or Fennekin backing it up.
Having Riolu pays off once you can evolve it and have a field day with Hawlucha for both Relearner and Tutor purposes.
>Mine was too glassy to survive long enough to abuse Reversal
Glassy is right.. Once I got Reversal and replaced Counter with that, I was an unstoppable killing machine. You're supposed to replace Counter with Reversal once you learn it. You don't need both
>and there are far too many Long-Range Attackers by Endgame to actually use Counter effectively
Like I said, you drop Counter once you learn Reversal. And by endgame you should evolve to Lucario to get Bone Rush and Aura Sphere
Your entire role as Riolu is bodyguard throughout the game until Epilogue. You block incoming attacks with Counter, hit people from afar with Vaccume Wave and Quick Attack, and your partner snipes. You are made to body block enemies from reaching your partner
Once you learn Reversal, replace Counter with that. Now you're a boss killer. With Toughness, you can take OHKO's with 1 hp left. Reversal works based on how much health you have. The less the health, the more damage it does
Thus, you just start spamming that the more your health goes down until you fall or until the enemy falls. If you play your cards right, you can just OHKO enemies due to how low your health is by using Reversal
Like I said: You're your partners bodyguard. They snipe, you bodyblock and RKO into an Aegis Reflector anyone that tries to get between you and them
You cannot have it hard with Riolu
But my partner's gone, I have no one to hug.
It was a Fennekin.
S A V E
Here is some cutelewd I wrote for phox to fuel your protectiong http://pastebin.com/D9HqGSQB
Flygon is actually really good in PSMD. It gets earth power and earthquake by level-up (eq is usable when the rest of the team is immune to ground), and you can tutor it both heat wave and draco meteor. Slap a resilient looplet on it, and you don't have to worry at all about draco's stat-lowering.
Back into Wish Cave. I'm unsure if wishing will actually let you recruit Blissey and Rapidash, but I need to hope it does. Even if you can't, I can still mark down that it can't so everyone knows
I'M SO EXCITED
AND I JUST CAN'T HIDE IT
Vitamins are harvested and refined in the Grass Continent from it's bountiful mining and farming areas, making the nation one of the most potent trading centers in the world. The Kecleon guild originated first on the Air Continent, but would later make it's base of operations smack in the center of the Grass.
I can't remember what all I had but I think I had a lullaby and barrage emeras on both my main and partner.
I might have had a Better odds or critical boost one too, I'm not sure.
I have riolu as my main, so I used Thunder punch often during the battles and in combination with the lullaby emeras they didn't get many attacks in, and when they did I healed myself with drain punch immediately after, Rayquaza didn't even get a single hit in.
Just got to 20f, Kecleon/Wooper are level 17, Charizard and the Skarmory i picked up are level 15. Grinding is essential on 18-19f.
Skarmory's not going to last much longer, as it's just a meat shield. Now the real run begins
>do a "get this item from this criminal" mission for the first time
>there's another rescue team there
>they start fucking attacking me
>they all refuse to die
>like hundreds of hundreds of damage put upon them and they won't die
>use all my reviver seeds, run out, party members all faint
>have to run away to avoid them
>one of them chases down the Liepard
>grabs the item and runs away
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT
It just came out of nowhere, man. I was just doing some Water Continent missions as filler while I try to gather enough good items to take on the Sand Dune of Spirits alone, I didn't expect to get wiped by something in Stone Field.
>use Paralysis Orb (or some other orb to get the enemy team out of your hair)
>block exits with teammates
>attack criminal, chase it around the room until it dies
Expect the unexpected anon. Always be prepared.
I have only ever seen the mission fail screen once and that was because the fucking shit licker I was hunting spawned right next to the goddamn stairs and bailed like a pussy fuck as soon as I hit him. That goddamn motherfucking shit.
But seriously, pack for any situation and not just the ones you know for sure you'll encounter.
It's impossible to pack for any situation with only 48 slots. Half of the time I make it to the destination/boss floor, see how it fucks me up, reset after losing, and pack accordingly for the second go.
48 slots is fucking huge.
Aside from basic shit like looplets, apples, elixirs, oran berries, and reviver seeds, I always bring: one escape orb, 2 petrify orbs, a totter orb, stayaway wands, pounce wands, petrify wands, and truant wands. I am packed for every situation.
I just finished this game. What the fuck was all of that? What the fuck happened? How is a pokemon game supposed to get real so quickly when I was just having fun times with my bro? Actually how the fuck did I get so attached to my partner???
And why the fuck am I crying?
Can you fucking believe the gall of the credits?
I don't even remember what the song sounded like because I stopped giving a shit.
Sure it is. I'm just fine with just 18 currently. Though my team has attacks and enough roids to make them death incarnate so I don't use items much anymore.
Wands make this game easy as hell if you know how to use them and blast seeds in my experience did around 100 damage. I saved blast seeds for bosses during the early game when I was underleveled and had few problems.
To what purpose? Why not just more Petrify Orbs?
Welcome to the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series. Prepare for repeated emotional kicks in the dick.
Remember to always cherish the smile.
I wasn't expecting that twist either. I'm also not sure if I should be glad or disappointed that everything between Dark Matter and reuniting with your Partner didn't take that long compared to Time/Darkness/Sky in terms of "WHEN THE FUCK CAN I EVOLVE US ALREADY".
The fucking credits ate me alive. Like I didn't already believe what just happened there and I'm sitting there waiting to see what is going to happen to
bring him backand after a brief pause of my character crying in silencehe continues while the credits just roll.
The most agonizing thing was the wait to see if anything happens after the credits.
I'm somewhat hopeful, but I imagine I will have to find someone to fill his spot
The game isn't done shoving the plot down your throat yet, so you'll still be busy for awhile.
Hope you stocked up on Wands and Orbs, because you'll be doing at least two Dungeons by yourself.
I hope you're resolute in how far you'll go to protect that smile, you're going to need it.
I'll go as far as I need to, I'm not letting it end like this. Out of curiosity though, are the other games this good at getting you like this? I rarely feel anything in games/movies, which is why I'm really surprised this got me as hard as it did.
It's a good feeling and I want to play more like it.
Starter was Charmander, Partner was Riolu.
Air Slash is a must-have for when STAB Heat Wave/Flamethrower wont slice through some enemies, and Riolu's too much of a shitter to keep unevolved in comparison to what Lucario can learn.
Gates would have been better if it wasn't for everything being so mediocre.
The twist that everyone would forget that you existed once you disappeared would have been great if it wasn't for MUH POWER OF FRIENDSHIP making that completely irrelevant.
>tfw sort of regret roiding up Cinccino because he becomes a dead weight as soon as Bullet Seed is depleted
is it possible to get Darkrai before mewtwo?
I'm autistic enough to want a mewtwo vs. darkrai showdown.
Thanks anons, I'm hype as fuck and also slightly scared
I hope that jaw of yours has insurance
>slowly alliance attack every one
>keep magmortar at bay with warp, slumber and petrify wands
>surround him last and chickorita in the back with razor leaf safe from harm
HOLY FUCK I JUST
GOT TO THE EVOLVE CUTSCENE THIS IS HYPE AS FUCK
I made another remix draft [again]
I might prioritize finishing this one, because I like it a lot
God damn that's a relief. Nowhere on the entire internet said you couldn't recruit stuff like this, but i was still worried since the game prioritized unevolved pokemon.
Easiest run i've had in a long time. Finished at a high level, and got screech early, making it a cakewalk
I noticed Pokémon whose levels are lower than mine are randomly becoming unavailable, even when I haven't used them in a while. I remember weaker Pokémon almost always not being busy in PSMD.
