Has seeing another game ever made you retroactively hate a game that you previously loved? I was just shown this footage from that Monster Hunter spinoff RPG, and the massive visual superiority it has over Pokemon is nothing short of astounding.
>Dat huge expanse of space
Seriously, just watch the Rathalos bossfight. Does anything in X/Y or ORAS even come close to that amount of personality and detail to their movements? I've defended X/Y for years because I truly thought that was the best that Gamefreak could do with the hardware, and I genuinely enjoyed my adventure through Kalos, but this has opened my eyes. Anyone else hope Gamefreak can learn a thing or two from Capcom for gen7?
>Does anything in X/Y or ORAS even come close to that amount of personality and detail to their movements?
Yup, any Pokemon. Unlike Capcom they adapted the Pokemon as they previously were and gave them more personality, while Capcom is just anim'ing up MH. Not to mention the combat system already looks worse AND the graphics are basically rehashed from MH Spirits.
Oh and enjoy your huge expanse of space with nothing in it, just like in MH itself and Dragon's Dogma.
Oh sorry I couldn't hear you over the FUCKING FELIYNES FACE.
>comparing monhun spinoff's monster model detail to an rpg with 721 monsters
oh great another pokemon killer clone, like as if we already have enough to deal with
>tfw no western release since graphics are too japanese to appeal
>Posts the O3DS version as a comparison instead of the updated N3DS ones
You're a funny person, anon.
Couldn't agree more with OP. I'm also a huge fan of Pokémon X/Y. I clocked over 1,500 hours in Y. It's easily my favourite Pokémon game. However, the graphics, animations and art style of Monster Hunter Stories is vastly superior, overall. It puts Game Freak to shame. I won't be surprised if this game becomes the "Pokémon killer" in Japan.
Nothing will become the "Pokémon Killer" because most Japs aren't retards in the sense that they know multiple monster tamers can coexist and won't start some stupid rivalry or something.
No idea why the west does this bullshit.
>post how the game actually on the console the majority of people has
Original MH4 doesn't even have those updated textures even. 4U does only because the new3DS came out a year later.
Digimon and Monster Rancher did decently for themselves if not very well. Of course, Pokemon "Killer" is the problem. At best we can hope for a game that does what Pokemon does but better and it'll be successful. There may even be people who look down on Pokemon because of the game.
Gamefreak and Pokemon are like Bethesda and The Elder Scrolls. Both companies feed people a type of game it'll take too long or too much effort for most other companies to start doing themselves - at least at a decent standard. They're both awful programmers who are outclassed by other games, but these other games only do a few things better(Which is why some people will say Far Cary 3 is more fun yet they drop it 100 times faster).
The best we can hope for is The Witcher 3 of monster taming. More people have invested in multiple open world games that demand hundreds of hours and people like me used to play Pokemon, Monster Rancher, and Digimon(and a bit of that shitty Pox game) all at once too. It won't kill Pokemon and TES won't be dead anytime soon but damn it, someone can still make a better game and have it widely recognized as such.
Monster Hunter already killed YW. Monster Hunter X, released November 28, 2015, has already surpassed the latest YW game, released July 2015, on the Japanese charts.
Monster Hunter isn't very big in the West though. I remember reading that Monster Hunter 4 sold 4,000,000 in Japan, but like 900,000 in the entire rest of the world in its first six months in the non-Japanese global market.
Please take care of the monster eggs!
Ah, what's the matter? YW fanboys don't like having their own retarded meme thrown back at them?
I mean, we all knew/know the next mainline Pokémon game will sell millions, both in Japan and internationally, yet we still had to endure retarded "Pokémon killer" posts throughout most of 2015.
Ya gamefreak really needs to step it's game up. Hell even yoki has surpassed pokemon in terms of environment and stroy telling. And this game looks like it's going to blow them apart in almost every way. It feels like this the first handheld gen, where they truly have fierce competition.
Let me play doubles advocate here for a second.
You are comparing a game released near the end of a portable life-cycle with something released near the start of it, which naturally will lend itself to be unpolished as the devs are not used to the hardware.
I do agree with the general message that GF needs to step up their game in a lot of ways tho.
Yeah, that's what i said and how it is. And it's useless to attribute out-Hippowdon to XY, all 3D games have it that way.
>released near the start of it
XY came out 2 years after the release of the 3DS and ORAS came out 3 years after.
Doesn't help that GF started on the former before the 3DS was released too.
>attacks based on Rock, Paper and Scissors
I'm not seeing any of this so-called "fierce competition" on this list, and Stories will be no exception:
I can't get past Stories' kiddish art style; looks nothing like Monster Hunter.
A YW fanboy when the only 3DS games I have are Pokemon and Etrian games?
And shitposting in retaliation doesn't make you much better than those shitposters, sometimes I forget /vp/ isn't any better than /v/ and still contains retards like you.
Because Yokai Watch games are boring RNG slogs for the most part and were never a focal point of the franchise. The series got popular because of anime, and specifically because of it's opening/ending songs.
