>tfw can't discuss Red Blue re-release without being called Nostalgiafag
Anyhow, let's talk. What do you hope they add/fix in the re-release? Have be gotten any confirmation that there'll be actual Wifi battles or just local wireless?
I also hope that they fix the buggy moves so stuff like Focus Energy actually works.
Optimally they would keep the MissingNo and Mew glitches but atleast fix stuff like literally broken moves like Focus Energy
I don't know if I'm gonna go extremely try hard with my team and do something like Rhydon, Tauros, Exeggutor, Zapdos, Lapras and Arcanine
I have 6 badges in Red and haven't encountered any glitches.
I currently have Rhyhorn, Exeggutor, Arcanine, Jolteon, Dodrio, and Lapras on my main team. I change my team for gyms.
>I have 6 badges in Red and haven't encountered any glitches.
That's because you have to go out of your way to encounter obvious glitches in those games. /vp/ is just autistic and hates Gen 1 because they hate "normies".
I don't care for My first Pokémon Game.
I move on to other generations of Pokémon with Pokémon.
Playing a Game with 151 Pokémon is boring.
The thing that really confuses me about this board is that "Genwunners" are basically crucified but the average poster here is a huge Gen 2 nostalgiafag.
Two sides of the same coin and a huge double standard.
I know. I remember that.
I grew up with the 1st generation of Pokémon games.
Only 151 Pokémon? That's the best!?
I don't care about desgins.
Seriously. Didn't hit me until the HGSS circlejerks
>Criticize Gen 1 and it's fans, but praise Gen 2 and hail HGSS as being the best Pokemon game when it only made the flaws of the original Gold and Silver more discernible
I don't get it. Was having Pokemon follow you that big of a fuckin' deal?
>There's no fucking trainers anywhere
>You end up becoming severely under-leveled for the Elite Four and now you HAVE to grind.
>The rematches are even worse because there's no trainers in the game that are going to give you enough EXP to grind for the E4 EXCEPT for the E4 themselves.
Fuck Johto's Elite Four, unless you really know what the fuck you're doing you're going to have a really horrible experience trying to fight them.
Fuck Red as well.
Having recently replayed Red on emulator, it's quite
The meta is an entirely different beast. Critical hits makes Tauros, Jolteon and Persian viable.
Fire spin and Wrap are literally hitler.
Getting Frozen is a death sentence (enjoy those 130BP, 90% accuracy Blizzards).
Also, for in-game, Gengar single-handedly stops most-everything cold since the AI is retarded and will often only carry Normal moves.
The only reason I'd play this would be to fulfill a childhood wish of catching them all.
But besides that it's just gen 1. Fire red and Leaf green were great remakes. I don't see the need to play the originals again.
I played it on emulator (along with G/S) just to see how many bugs I could exploit.
Turns out, quite a lot. I had filled my Pokédex by the 25th hour mark for RBY. 251 by around hour 70 in GSC. No trading, no AR cheat codes used, just bugs.
wait... some of you guys actually think they are going to change or fix ANYTHING?
it's not a damn remake, just a horrible re-release for nostalgia-cashgrab, ie muh profit for basically zero development time (beyond making the virtualconsole think wireless connection to another 3ds is a link cable)
For RBY: The extended Mew Glitch:
Basically, encounter a long-range trainer (west of Lavender city or the grass patch near nugget bridge). Immediately press start, yada yada. All you need to encounter any Pokémon you want is you need to face a pokémon with Special stat same as the Pokémon's index number (eg: for Mew you need to face a Pokémon with a special stat of 14 iirc). You can exploit it by facing ditto, which can transform into your lead Pokémon, copy their special stat allowing you to face just the Pokémon you want.
Catch a few Abra, lvl-up via rare candies from MissingNo until they hit right index number (eg: I think Charmander is 187), then face a ditto and catch the Pokémon. Easy.
For GBY: extended Coin case glitch.
Have a specific set of items in your item bank, have a Pokémon with low DVs in third spot of party and a Quagsire with Protein held and Sleep Talk as its first move in your fourth slot. You can now edit the game's code.
i suppose youve never heard of the glitch to get mew.
its a glitch that makes you encounter a pokemon you are not intended to encounter, with its species determined basically by the pokemon of the trainer you used to activate it (whatever that one guy north of nugget bridge has, rolls species number of glitch to mew in that case).
It'll probably be totally untouched.
I won't really care though unless they put the Stadium games on Wii U VC and they can link to the 3DS, so I can finally play that Surfing Pikachu minigame.
I actually want them to remake Diamiond and pearl.
I felt like that game was harder than the other games. That team galaxy leader gave me a real challenge, cyrus or whatever.
Also there was an abondance of poison types if I recall correctly. Or I just happen to create a team of only poison types:
I had a crobat
and a tentacruel
It obviously isn't a remake, but I'd be legitimately surprised if /nothing/ was changed. I mean they're giving away mews to people who buy it day 1 in Japan, I doubt they want that to be totally circumvented by everyone being able to grab a mew with the mew glitch.
They're giving the Mew away on Gen 6 games.
You can't transfer a glitch Mew from Gen 1, much less an emulated Gen 1, to Gen 6.
the gap between your team and the E4 is no bigger than it is in most games. compared to the champion, level gaps with your team are:
RS: ~15, E: ~12
DP: ~18, Pt: ~14
based off the several no-grind playthroughs i've done over the years. it's a relatively constant difference except in gen 5 where you're much closer.
I know they're giving away Mew codes for gen 6 with it, but I was under the impression that they were also giving out Mew codes for the Re-releases. And if you'll notice, I never fucking mentioned Gen 6. I was talking about Gen 1 to Gen 1. It is at this time that I will direct you to your own image.
