There's so much variety of pokémon in XY, seriously, 3 Regional pokédex (Central, Coastal and Mountain) with 150 EACH, Kalos has around 450 Pokémon NATIVELY.
Just choose your favorites, it's not worth to take tips from vee pee when you can just enjoy your style.

Remember that you can use the GTS (Global Trading Station) to get some pokémon that could take a long time to become available. Phantump for example, only evolves via trading, so you should get one in GTS or you will only have a chance of getting Trevenant (the evolution) in the Route 20, near of the last gym.
