This is why Alan tries to handle everything, even fighting 2 legendaries all alone. Lysandre also isolated him from Sycamore so that no one can correct his mistaken notion.

Alan may act aloof and cold to push people away so they don't get in danger but he's actually appreciative of having someone there for him like when he thanks her. He seems like a lonely guy and she's the first girl persistent enough not to get scared away by his loner facade. Of course he'd get attached to her.

The difference is Georgia and Bianca are rivals, so are allowed to make return appearances. Jessica is a CotD for a pokemon debut episode, same with Premiere. Sanpei and Millefeui would probably be the best analogues, since they originally had no relation to the badge quest/tripokalons/team flare subplots, but Sanpei's eventually revealed Ash-Greninja, and Millefeui was made a performer.

Ironically Georgia has a pokedex but isn't on a badge quest, while Burgundy did start out on one and doesn't have a pokedex.
