Not that anon, but playing in-game isn't about having good defensive coverage. It's about having a bunch of kickass Pokemon with loads of different types so you can have a star player in each environment you visit. If you have two Pokemon of the same type, they share the spotlight in the areas where they shine and both get overlooked in areas where they don't.
