Because Gen 4 was also a very solid generation. Disregarding the horrible battle speed, the games brought a lot of new and interesting stuff. Four Runner Up and one Winner is a good proof that it had quality.

all awful, Johto was a tiny piece of shit and none of the gyms are memorable at all, nor are the gym leaders, the two regions together are barely even a fraction of the content Hoenn offered in the next game, and neither is as interesting, honestly I prefer Gen1 over 2 just because at least it was origional and can get a little slack, Gentooo was just lazy and felt like a cheap expansion pack more than a full new game

really? the pokemon design isn't bat at all, its more toned down from GenIV and it seems people focus on one or two evolution lines and ignore the other 150 pokemon they added

more than that some of the hate they get is really unreasonable and seems more like distaste for anything new or that people feel these new pokemon are 'stealing' something from their genwon babies

Absolutely love Gen 6. It's like a mini Pokemon Stadium without the obvious features. The sprites are great, the music IS BANGING (c'mon seriously, even if you hate everything about ORAS, the music in it is too good). I love me some Gen 2 and 4 as well, but these remakes are fine by me. Glad to see every generation getting a little love one way or another. That's why they're all special.
