I'm about to go fight Winona. Any tips before I head into it? I don't know if anyone is in this thread yet.
all games turn to be about fast reliable sweepers with 100% accuracy moves.
otherwise you just wait for your pokemon to die to hacks.
Also it discourages you from using fun moves that rely a bit on luck.
I also don't understand how you manage your leveling. You can choose to use pokemon like altaria that are by 600 000 exp already at level 100 and sweep through everything or you can choose slowly growing mons like pseudos and grind constantly in the grass or be underleveled. Do you even play with grinding restrictions, like no rebattling trainers/wilds?
Just lost Takeshi (Lotad), Sly (Zigzagoon), and Griff (Poochyena) to some little shit level 8 Taillow. Nandos (Torchic) survived with 1HP. I am not looking forward to the rest of Sapphire.
>First Nuzlocke attempt is OR
>mfw Primal Groudon sweeps my anus
God damn I was not ready
And so the death toll increases to 11.
I wasn't expect the earthquake to be a critical hit, fuck you Maxie. Never forget. ;_;
Beginning Fire Red.
Standard Nuzlocke rules, I'm also going to refrain from grinding whenever I can. Other rules:
>You must use only one ball per route.
>If a Pokemon comes into battle they must finish it on their own.
>If you faint the first Pokemon you must throw away a ball.
Just gonna pick Charmander because I never used it before. And it'll add a nice little challenge at the start.
Nevermind, an anon suggested Bulbasaur, I'll go with that.
Sorry Charmander, guess I'll never use you ever
VW2 stream here
Zinzolin fucked up Pinchasso the Pinsir with a crit blizzard, and DumpCumster the Garbodor (though that wasn't such a big loss). Now I have to train up 1-2 more members for the big Shadow Triad / Ghetsis fights
Which one has the honor of being on my team?
Viridian Forest. This is the team I've got since the two other Pokemon were another Ratatta that got KO'd and Metapod. Since I'm an idiot I forgot to carry Antidotes with me. But I am not gonna let Rick die on me dammit, not to a Weedle.
It was even Jolly and had Guts too.
Ah well, you win some you lose some. And after the Boulder badge, it's off to Mt. Moon!
With a lot of Antidotes in tow.
>Sacred Gold nuzlocke
I tried this recently and had to give up around about mahogany town, it becomes such a grind.
around 20-25 is good for the bug gym, if you're planning on using quilava then dont send him out right away as the opening pokemon (i think its butterfree) knows rain dance
>EDIT: Concerning the Pokespe line, I was trying to be humorous about the overemphasis on plot in my comic. Got nothing against the series lmao
apparently it's a jab at both her and pokespe
Colress killed 4 mons, leaving me with only these 6 and no box.
It's fucking time for Dennis
Fuck, had a run of bad luck and was training a new team in my OR wonderlocke, and I boxed my Lapras (one of my two remaining at level mons) for my HM slave, counting on my crobat to do some training in Victory road.
Accidentally ran into a trainer with a Sigilyph got a TPK.
Thankfully my Lapras survived, but the damn thing only happened because I boxxed it in the first place.
Will probably keep going as I have a small number of usables left and a few routes in reserve that I can still get catches on, but still sucks to lose all those up and commers like that.
First time in recorded history I haven't lost a member to Burgh
Onward we march.
I actually do, I have completed two runs. By choosing I mean the fact that every time I make a nuzlock run, I don't lose practically any mon and end up with a box full of them. Anyway, nice way of dodging my questions.
Caught a Pidgeotto I named Rocky north of Mahogany. Still can't approach the shiny Gyarados since I don't have surf, I just came over here to fight stuff and level up for Morty.
Raz the Eevee, level 19
Eugene the Krabby
Jason the Quilava, level 21
Shaun the Flaaffy
Bess the Raticate
Latifa the Nidorina, level 22
Caught Foppa the Magikarp in Olivine (thanks for nothing Good Rod) and Whitney the Miltank north of Olivine. Had a scare when Miltank used Bide, was worried it was about to kill Eugene.
I can forsee this Miltank being really good eventually, but I NEED Raticate for Morty
Fuck random trainers, been having too many close calls.
Get powersaves. You can make backups.
So last night I started a X nuzlocke. Pretty neat. I saved in front of the first gym.
My Scatterbug was killed by the Dunsparce I caught ;_;
>>>>Bess got a crit Crunch on Gengar, 1shotting the thing I was most worried about
>Bess then 1shot the Haunters
Holy fucking shit I was really worried about this fight and it was an easy as shit win due to insane luck. Team is
Raz the Eevee, level 23
Jason the Quilava
Eugene the Krabby
Latifa the Nidorina
Shaun the Flaaffy, level 24
Bess the Raticate, level 26
I was on my way to get the Ruins of Alph Moon Stone when a fucking wild Quagsire crit killed Raz, and almost killed Eugene.
The irony of this is Quagsire's my favorite fully evo'd mon.
Anyways, caught it, named it Cheesecake, going to mess with my team some now that Eevee is gone. Team same as before, only Cheesecake (level 21) replaced Krabby and Ellay the Koffing (level 14) replaced Eevee.
Beat Burgh, now time to get wiped to Colress...
Passed him with no casualties! Also, I caught Giuseppe the Sandile and Bane the Shuppet, though they will probably both stay in the PC with Chad the Timburr, unless I get three terrible catches in the Nimbasa area.
About to fight May in Sapphire outside of Slateport, badly in need of an Electric and Fire type soon
The irony of your suffering amused me.
Fuck you Juan, Lightning was suppose to help me through Wallace. I should have healed her so she would survive that critical hit.
Well, it looks like I have to head for Victory Road now, while looking for a replacement for Lightning. Never forget.
Yet Another Fire Red Hack, naming theme is brits, lets go!
>Beat 2nd gym in AS expo-share-less Nuzlocke
>Team is Dustox, Grovyle, Zubat and Wingull all around 15/16 + lv 8 slave zigzagoon
For some reason I think I already lost, maybe it's because I have no Idea how I'll beat Wattson. Too bad my shroomish got slaughtered by a matchop along with my thunder-fang Poochyena.
Why does this Gary fight even exist?
Who honestly expects you to go there at level 9?
I was THIS close to catching Hariyama in Victory Road but it used Whirlwind at the turn it hit red health. Fuck, I was hoping he'll save me with Sidney and the Ice lady.
I desperately need a replacement that can help me for the Elite 4. Who should I put on there?
How am I looking for the first rival battle?
>tfw got mankey instead of ratatta
feels lucky man
HeartGold Nuzlocke. 10 badges. Party Pokémon are my main motherfuckers.
>actually picking Chikorita
Good man, sorry to hear they didn't make it.
RIP Tiffany, that Raichu surprised me with Thunderbolt.
This is it, guys.
I'm going into elite and hopefully become champion with everyone alive.
WISH ME LUCK
Two done, thankfully no casualties yet.
Goddamn it, Allen was my only hope for this fucker.
Lovely was suppose to help me out with Drake with ice beam but honestly, I think I'm going to die.
RIP Lovely, my favorite Gyarados. ;_;
I want to explain something about the word faggot.
The history behind it is actually extremely disturbing. Back in the Middle Ages they would burn witches, adulterers, heretics and the like because they believed these people were so vile and evil that they had offended god himself. It was believed that they deserved to experience the unimaginable pain and suffering of being burned alive because they were unholy and even less than human in some cases. They would burn them by strapping them to a stake atop a pyre and they would place bundles of sticks, or faggots as they called them, at the base of the pyre to act as kindling. Now at the time they believed that homosexuals were not only vile and evil beings that should he burned for their sins against god. gays were seen as so awful, so wretched, and so unholy, that they could not be human, not only were they less than human, they were soulless creatures worth even less than animals. Gays were so worthless that they did not even deserve their own pyre to be burned upon. when witches or heretics were burned, the gays would be bound and then placed at the base of the pyre along with the faggots because kindling was the only thing they were seen as good for. That is how the use of the word faggot to describe homosexuals originated.
It's tough to deal with, man. Sometimes, I feel like giving up; retiring to the countryside and farming berries until I forget the anguish of each friend that falls before his/her time.
On the plus side, I never have to shop for status healing items when I decide to nut up and continue the fight.
Okay so what's my nickname? I dont really want to be a Big A
Now lets decide on the cutie's nickname
I just got fucking destroyed in my AS nuzlocke in the second May battle. Her goddamn Wailmer killed my Shroomish and Grovyle with Rollout, and then her Shroomish pretty much wiped out the rest of my team. I blame my loss mostly on my lack of levels, but there's nowhere good to grind.
I'm definitely going to restart at some point. Not sure if I should clear my head for a bit or dive right back into it. I know I'm definitely not using Treecko again next time, he sucked and barely contributed to the team.
>nowhere good to grind
>EXP Share exists
Unless not using the EXP Share is one of your rules, you have no reason for losing that battle.
Also, trainers want rematches after you initially battle them. You could've run back and forth until they wanted to battle. And there's always wilds. The worst thing you can do about grinding is bitch and moan about it and not do it
CRITICAL FUCKING HIT AND THEN HE FLINCHED
I'm planning on doing a Nuzlocke of Emerald and try to get every golden Frontier Symbol, but first I need to know something: Is there a patch that can make the TMs infinite like in gen 5-6? I never liked the fact that TMs are consumable.
>EXP Share exists
I know this, I guess I should have mentioned that I wasn't using it. I think it's a bit cheap and makes the game easy.
Holy fucking shit I am a total dumbass
Went to get a drink. May Sc4t Attack live long
Sweet holy mother of fuck, that is a battle I will never forget. I really wasn't expecting Nicole to save my ass twice, she is truly the best pokemon.
Unfortunately, I lost Annabelle in fight, I'm really running out of options on who to use against Wallace and his ice beam pokemon. I may risk it and have Stoney use sleep powder or hopefully Nickie can perform another miracle. Sending Mustard out there is just basically a death trap.
So close, yet so far away...
Slightly off topic, I'm about to buy ORAS, but I overplayed Emerald so much I'm worried it won't feel fresh. I don't particularly enjoy nuzlocking though, I find it too stressful. What are some fun challenges that keep the game difficult (not just "turn off EXP. Share", just makes things more grindy) but still relaxed? Challenges like Monotype, Wonder, Rainbow, etc?
God dammit all! Nightshade got glacked!
Especially if they can't see her or her picture
Didn't get a lot of sleep last night so I'm turning in. Goodnight everyone and good luck to the one playing emerald.
What game do you think would be the best for a Fighting monotype?
I've wanted to do one but I'm not sure which game would be ideal.
Platinum maybe? Chimchar as starter and Machop fairly early on?
I'm not sure.
DPPL are probably your best bet. There are plenty of them in those games. Chimchar, Machop, Meditite, Lopunny, Toxicroak, etc etc. Pretty nice variation, even better since many can learn elemental punches.
RIP Jamie and Narc
Was never too attached to him because I caught him after Tiffany died, but Jamie was so hopeful. He never even got to know a grass move.
I did buy a hood rat from the game corner though, and she's really strong.
Booting up my old Spirit Emerald run.
Just reached Dewford Town, have the Granite Cave Catch in Chimchar.
Tempted to go for the Squirtle but I'll go for the Corphish catch I think.
Not only was my Corphish Adamant but I slaughtered Brawly.
I don't want to tempt fate, especially not having anything around the corner for Wattson but this is fucking easy and I might do it with no deaths if it carries on like this.
Challenge patch my ass.
>Sleep Powder miss + crit Confusion
This is fucking awful.
RIP Magby, you never really got a chance to shine.
>Azumarill can learn bulldoze on top of having huge power
After endless grinding I think I know how to take out Wattson's Magneton with this team. Also, Isn't Azumarill just the best?
Hi it's >>22352336 here.
I can most definitely confirm that it is the best seeing as mine OHKOs pretty much everything in the game at this point.
If mine had Bulldoze I'd probably take on Wattson with it.
>got crit Bubblebeam thinking Wynaut can't learn Mirror Coat
>this hack gives Wynaut Mirror Coat
This is starting to get really quite upsetting.
RIP (Adamant) Corphish, you deserved better.
My Magby was Modest too, they're killing off my strong natured mons.
Do a difficulty hack and don't grind over the highest gym leader's level each time.
sweeeet. don't mind me if i drawfag.
don't let me down, anon!
Protip: You can't outspeed Chatot
Pro-ertip: my run is probably about to end
Love it. Hate pic related. 2 7 4 8 names this thing.
I fucking forgot about sturdy. Luckily, no one died at the end, even if it went really close.
Turns out you can kill Magneton by spamming Electro ball with your pikachu, especially if it has lightningrod. The more you know.
team before cheren battle. sure, i could've grinded a bit more but there's not many options considering you can't run into rustling grass until after you get your first badge.
Well there goes my last thing for Wattson unless I train up the Bagon or super cheese with Blissey.
I could try to curbstomp with Azumarill maybe.
>locked into Rollout
>get this low
That was nearly the end of my run.
Two new little shits before getting put in daycare as assurance.
Alpha Sapphire Wonderlocke here. About to fight the Elite Four. Think I'm ready? Thing that scares me the most is that Metagross.
I guess. I might have stand a chance if my Swampert was still alive but that fucking Kyogre killed him. Thinking about it now, I think I fear fight Rayquaza the most in the Delta Episode since I had to use my Master Ball on my Kyogre because he'd wipe my whole team. I really hate that you have to catch them in order to progress.
All right guys, how does this sound for a challenge run?
Blackout Run: No healing at Pokemon Center, can only heal by blacking out. No healing items, no boxing non-full health Pokemon, can only catch the first Pokemon on a route. Keep EXP. Share on, this will mean the Pokemon on your team that survives the longest will get the most EXP.
Other additional challenges I'm considering as well:
Only use your six highest level Pokemon.
No Pokemon on the team can share a type
Only use one/two/one-per-type moves above 40 BP per Pokemon.
wait, so when you black out, you have to release everything because they died right? How would you ever get anything done? Also, I could easily see you getting stuck with no one that can surf/strength/etc
That was pretty intense.
I had a long PP war and lost Nuzleaf, but we won the battle in the end.
If I lose this and restart I hope I get a Shellos catch.
Took all my healing items bar a single Moomoo milk too.
Good luck to you Spanks the Chimchar.... (Name to be changed when I get to Rowans Lab)
>Fighting Steven in Wonderlocke
>Send out Charizard, mega to X
>Skarmory's sturdy endured the hit
>Champion used Full Restore
>Skarmory's sturdy endured the hit
>More toxic damage
>Killed Skarmory (this is where I should have, instead full restored, fucked up here)
>Sends out Aggron
>Don't want to take STAB rocks to the face, use EQ
>Aggron's sturdy endured the hit
>Aggron used stone edge
>Toxic does the kill
Fuck I liked that mon too.
At least Lapras @ Metronome was able to sweep with Surf so Zard was my only e4 loss, but seriously, fuck Sturdy.
I was also hoping for Rock head
I am not sure WHY I expected that, but that is what I was expecting.
Misplay was not healing, rather than not switching, most of my other mons would not have liked taking a stone edge either.
What do you guys think of an optional Nuzlocke rule that allows you to wonder trade away any duplicate first-catches you get, and use the Pokemon you receive provided it's lower level than Pokemon you traded away?
Also, still looking for thoughts about this
Going with yours, maybe Meat will be useful one day.
This fucking asshole Girafarig in the Ruins of Alph killed my fucking Raticate that stomped Morty with a crit, and nearly took out 2 others. I wasnt expecting it to outlevel my entire team. RIP Bess.
I would say the Drayano hacks
(blaze black 1-2, blaze black 2, sacred gold/stormsilver, fire red omega).
There's also a number of similar hacks for other games, like Expert Emerald and Bullshit Platinum
Gonna continue my stream of Advanced Adventure. Have to do some grinding but at least I have this motherfucker on my team
Whitney the Miltank has a kinda lame nature that lowers attack, but I'll still use it. The current team is
Whitney the Miltank, 15
Latifa the Nidoqueen
Cheesecake the Quagsire
Eugene the Krabby
Shaun the Flaaffy, 24
Jason the Quilava, 25
>inplying Flannery gets to do anything
Azumarill Op pls nerf
I could have used my master ball, but it just didn't seem right to just bypass the final battle like that.
Not to mention using Rayquaza was against the rules of my run but it forced itself into the first slot so SOMETHING had to take Deoxys' first hit.
It was sad to lose him like that, but his noble sacrifice saved the world and won the run.
Time for a new adventure.
