What's so wrong about this design, exactly? It's about as offensive as Hilbert's.
the shit hair, shit sunglasses, and shit hat. Hilbert also had better color coordination and his shoes are more stylish than boring boots.
Hilbert is way better than this guy and there hasn't been a good male protag design since B/W, including ORAS Brendan.
His color choice is a bland mess. Ugly hair and hat, old woman sunglasses, boots that dont fit him at all, his pants are tucked into his boots, just a mess. Its what a retard would dress like
My opinion is contrary to the rest of the people above.
He's quite fashionable and his attire is appropriate for adventure. The hat,bag and glasses looks fine to me and his hair looks good.
the boots are really something i like about it.
The color scheme looks simple and dull and it's pleasing to look at.
I'm sure this is a "typical" French hat they use on their gendarmerie and in military, at least this was a thing in the past century.
The "purse" is a shoulder bag for men while the turleneck jacket is quite common on sports suits. The pants are better than Hilbert's at least.
The glasses are defintely not unisex and most likely created for women.
Backpacks would look like those trainer class ones, also very 90s and aimed for much younger characters.
Yeah he is fine like every other male character that isn't RGBY Red, Diamond/Pearl Lucas and Black2/White2 Nate.
Plus the access to customization opens new doors for his style.
Can we discuss how horrible and disgusting was RGBY Red outfit? The 90s mode and that third world style in general. Ridiculous.
Want to know what's wrong with Calem's design?
I can't take his fucking hat off.
Why am I forced to chose between either wearing a beanie (which is the only reasonable choice) or a fedora/obnoxiously hueg cap?
His style of clothing and hairstyle is so ambiguous on the gender scale I'd sooner guess he was a tomboy than an actual boy, so I can understand the dislike for the default clothes. They could have definitely gone a little farther to instill some sense of masculinity while still keeping with fashion.
It's a good thing we were able to change our clothes in the end and make our avatars more typical male.
His character design looks like a slowly transitioning butch lesbian, its just so ambiguous and somewhat feminine.
I think he's a QT (honestly he's my second favorite under Hilbert), but I wish he deviated from RED AND BLUE.
He looks good in most of the customization clothes, as plain as they are compared to Serena's wardrobe.
>You have to be okay with boys looking more feminine than masculine or you're a closet homo case
There's nothing wrong with wanting your male avatar to actually look male.
Reminder that ORAS Brendan is a step in the right direction from Calem.
You're grasping for straws pretty hard there, you don't need rippling muscles and speedos to show something as masculine, just like how you don't need something with an hourglass figure in a bikini to display as femininity.
Yeah, it's almost as though it's SILLY to declare that a male character is effeminate because his hair is a few centimeters longer than what you consider kosher.
So we take Calem to get a haircut and the problem of his supposed femininity is solved then. Got it.
We still never got a tux.
Old one looks like n old man. New one looks like a less ripped version of that super tan water gym dude from BW2 mixed with Grant.
But the hat and glasses.
My african american brethren
Yup. ORAS Brendan isn't that bad, for some reason he looks a lot better in the contest outfit, I think it's his awkward facial expression in the default clothes and the
shitty shoes. Ruby/Sapphire Brendan isn't bad either, it's probably the older Sugimori art style that makes him look dated, but I think that the Emerald art is the best look for him.
He looks too bland. There really isn't anything special about him other than, maybe, longer than usual hair for a male protagonist. I don't know what were they thinking when they decided to use this color scheme again. I think it would have been better if Calem was "red" and Serena was "blue".
