Where I'm at on the second island I can freely pendulum between three routes and it's the most freedom I've had so far the entire game.

Yeah, getting through the first hour til you complete the first trial is fucking tedious. Cutscenes, tutorial hell, can't go where or do what I want until advancing the narrative.

In another game, I'd have been on my journey, in the next town prepping for the first gym. But nope, stuck at the house with Mom for three days. For story purposes.

They don't acknowledge national dex numbers on their site. They do in their handbook though, as long as that's the case the icons of Pokemon post-Primarina won't appear since they depend on the national dex number.
