It's not even close to as unbalanced to gen 6 with the exp share on. The E4 was about equal to my team and the last kahuna fight was a still a decent challenge

It's a bit too weak to priority (it's Flying type so Psychic Terrain won't benefit it), and its Shields Down can be hard to work with - sometimes you take enough damage so that your offenses don't activate it but another attack will be an OHKO, or you get blown up from 100% to full from any SE attack. Ironically this is where Stealth Rock can actually be something you can make use of.

Can't see it leaving UU though, because if you do get 2x Shell Smashes and Shields Down activates, and they don't have priority? You can and will sweep their entire team, it has near perfect coverage.

Honestly I would just consider it this gen's Volcarona, absurdly strong sweep potential but it's actually, well, balanced. Gamefreak for once have a well designed pokemon that can feel both overpowered or useless depending on how you play it.

Might also see some use as a lead due to the Stealth Rock + Explosion suicide lead combo, but you would run Shell Smash + Acrobatics at the same time meaning it can still be a sweeper in some circumstances.

Throw in the fact it's immune to status when above 50% and you have something that fits on nearly any team.

I was going to at least try to get one during my playthrough because I like the design, but holy shit, it (and also Alolan Raichu) were just fucking amazing in terms of potential coverage with movepools, and in Marowaks case, one shotting a couple of the Totem Pokemon.

The closest thing to an old Pokemon learning it is Alolan Sandslash.
I'm a bit annoyed they didn't give it to classic Sandslash, but that form isn't properly available yet. Maybe it'll get updated when Bank/NatDex comes along?
