I have a question about the gold bottle caps. Since the don't actually boost your physical IVs if you use one on pokemon that have a max stat will it be higher than normal?

Well yeah defensive pokemon of course dont need speed and would rather invest in hp and defensiveness or if you want a slow heavy hitter attack stats work fine. But when is pokemon is slow and frail it becomes hard to use. That means it becomes a fodder pokemon used only when the time is right for it to set up and make its fraility less of a problem.
The problem here is that it may have to rely on its teammates before it gets a chance to do much.
