Is this the most underwhelming gen in terms of changing the metagame?

>only 51 new moves, 31 of which are exclusive to one pokemon, and the rest are only learned by a select few
>most new pokemon are pretty average, with the exception of the legendaries/UBs
>Most Z-Moves aren't being used because an item is almost always better

you also have to consider that it heavily rework older pokemon and a good amount of the new ones actually feel unique rather than shit like the monkey trio in gen 5
also Z-moves are more useful if you're using them to support like Darkinium Z Memento etc.

Are Tapus that dominating? I avoid using legendaries in my teams because reasons and was wondering if its possible to make a ~good~ team in S/M using regular pokemon.

Why doesn't Smogon implement the Pentagon rule in their metas? Realistically, it's the only way for Game Freak to remove moves from a Pokemon's movepool, and doing so is an entirely legitimate game change like removing gems was in the Gen 5->6 transition or the ability nerfs were in the Gen 6->7 transition. Gamefreak metas don't have to deal with Chansey and Mega Kangaskhan having Seismic Toss until the end of time because they simply mandate Chanseys and Kangaskhans have to come late enough that they don't have access to those moves; that's an entirely legitimate balance change, and one that will never be seen on Smogon without the Pentagon rule being implemented.

As a usual proponent of what Smogon does, I wholeheartedly agree with you.

I want to say it was done to have kept the variation of Defog users up to help deal with hazards, but it still allowed in all kinds of shit as you mentioned.

As an additional point of note, Chansey line can legally get Seismic Toss when Bank comes out, since it's an egg move from Mawile who can gain it from Mankey line who gets it via level-up.

Why did they stop doing this? It gave the fights and leaders a bit more personality and was probably next to no additional effort.

the music changing for their last mon in gen 5 was really neat as well
emergency music overriding everything was awful though

pokemon has had so many cool ideas and extra touches over the years but they always ditch them in the next games
guess i should accept the fact there will never be a 'perfect' pokemon game and i will continue being disappointed til the end of time

Nintendo stated that the Switch was not the replace the 3DS. Now I know that they said the same thing about the GBA and the DS but I think that it was Nintendo not realizing how the DS could be popular.

So wouldn't be weird if Nintendo after making that statement released the next Pokemon game on the Switch? When they seem like they want to push the 3DS a little more? Plus think of the audience that they got thanks to GO I don't think it would be smart to just abandon all of these people a year later.

tl;dr: Could stars be on the 3DS?
