Okay, all shitposting aside, Alain would've been a perfect traveling companion for Ash.
They both want to be the very best, they both would've slowly grown over the series, both having friendly rival battles after each Gym.
Somewhere along the line, Ash could've gotten a Charizardite, and in the finals, there would've been an epic Zard X versus Zard Y battle. Ash would still lose, because the anime won't be ending anytime soon, but it would've been a much better battle. Memefrog could've still been Ash's Kalos ace, but without the asspull.

Alan's never getting out of prison. Manon will die a virgin waiting for him. He got his happy ending onscreen, but as soon as the cameras were off he was handcuffed and taken away.

But hey, he's in a nice co-gendered prison. It's set up in an abandoned building in downtown Castelia City, surrounded by Chinese toy srores and little alleyways leading to trinket shops. It even has a co-gendered shower, that you can watch other people in from your cell because of the shape of the building. The wardens are assholes, but the guy who owns the building is cool.
