Using your logic the anime style trailer for B2/W2 was anime style because it would be how cutscenes were in B2/W2 when in reality it was because they do things because they can.

It's not like other games didn't use anime-esque cutscenes on the DS/3DS so you've no argument against it - except for the fact it didn't happen, of course.
