I want gyms back, but I'd also like to keep totem battles. I think they would be nice "bosses" for wilderness areas or for places special to the plot.

Maybe the evil team boss wants to harness "totem energy" and at the end you have a fight with him where he uses a team of six totem pokemon Lusamine style.

It's the E4 I think should change. I'd like to see it function a bit more tournament-style (or at least appear like it). I'd also like to see it happen much, much later in the game. I'd love a Pokemon game that lasts long enough for the E4 to have level 80-90 pokemon.

Gyms don't have much meaning beyond being arbitrary puzzles, and gym leaders are stuck in their gyms when the trial captains were wherever they needed to be.

The games coming out this year won't be, but Gen 8/DiaPer remakes (If this year is another Kanto game) might be. It's possible they might pull a PMD Red/Blue and have one PMD on the 3DS and another on the Switch to drive sales up before releasing a main series game.

Salandit should have a bulky male evo to use its ability.

The only problem with Salandit is that its evo isn't as good as it (even if it's still good.) So much so that I'll be running Eviolite Salandit in my playthrough.

The only real advantage Shaymin has is that it can bounce back to the hand instead of the deck, along with being able to tank 40 more damage. Otherwise, Uxie is better in every way.
