Who cares about the animation, the Pokemon anime is generally shit and always was with only a few peaks into mediocrity. The only good reason anyone watches it is just see new Pokemon animated. They should retire Ash already and make a slice-of-life anime, which they obviously want to considering SM, or a Mystery Dungeon anime so we focus on what people want instead of the shitty humans. Either way we'd at least have a premise that easily allows for a never-ending filler-filled anime, instead of a pretend plot that never actually resolves.
