In retrospect, the fact that we didn't get a third version for Gen 6 was a huge fucking mistake. Yes, I know, the only reason it didn't happen was because Game Freak didn't plan ahead for the 20th anniversary, so they dropped all related to Gen 6, started work on Gen 7 aka the 20th anniversary celebration, and shoehorned in what little they could like Perfect Zygarde.
A third version of Gen 6 could've vastly improved on what Gen 6 already was. Gen 6 felt so bare and incomplete, it NEEDED a third version. Badly.
Maybe it wouldn't be the worst Gen if it had one.

Gen 8 is based on Australia.
The region is called the Ocestra Region.
The starters are a Grass Beetle, a Fire Rabbit, and a Water Octopus.
There will be 47 new Pokemon.
The gimmick is called Gamma Cards. You can have a deck of 24 at a time, and you can use them before attacking. Some of them do damage, some have special abilities, etc.
The evil team is called Team Dirt.
Gyms are back, but there is no Elite 4 or Pokemon League. After you beat the 8th Gym, you're considered the Ocestra Master.
Lillie returns as the Professor.

You say that as if it was literally nothing, but just by getting the forms' names or a tiny bit of info we can speculate for weeks and maybe even directly learn if they're necrozma or solgaleo/lunala forms.
