What's Japan's opinion on the new designs anyways? Are they as mad as us about how the art style clashes horribly?
In my opinion the best course of action is keep demons that look like Minotaur, Astaroth, etc; redraw the 4 archangels keeping the same design but so that they actually look like they belong to SMT, and just discard most of the others new designs that clash hard, at least the ones that can easily return to their previous one, like Lilith, which looked good alredy..

It's a translators job to know how to translate shit like that and if it's true that they changed lines that'd be by no means a justification.

The only discussion we had akin to that was some comments about the connotations of the word that he uses for "goodbye," and why there's no exact English equivalent of it.

That's just one word out of many, though, and a good translator translates the meaning behind a sentence, not the words in the sentence.
