are there any more games like SMT:Nocturne and DDS not counting Final Fantasy?
What are some good demon builds in SMT4?
I pretty much went full retard and stacked a bunch of passives for the last third of the game, so most of my demons have one or two attacks at most.
You don't need demons at all, Flynn has a lot of skill slots and you can give him the important shit. Then fuse demons with at least no weaknesses and at best absorb everything. One demon with Sama-Recarm, another one with Mediaharan maybe some with Candy and Anti even though Flynn should have that already and congrats, you broke the game.
pic related or persona q /smtg/? Trying to decide. I'm a big persona fan but I've been moving to the main franchise stuff. I almost caved and bought Persona but it may go on sale like other Atlus stuff question is how long til then
The anwer is always both. If you're not underage, you should have a regular income which you should be able to manage in such a way that you can buy the stuff you want. Just tone down the partying or similar shit, don't buy the most expensive food, etc.
Wouldn't know, don't have the DLC.
Also I'm sorry for fucking up my post, wasn't really paying attention. But it really is fuckIng easy to break IV with fusion and whisper.
>The anwer is always both. If you're not underage, you should have a regular income which you should be able to manage in such a way that you can buy the stuff you want. Just tone down the partying or similar shit, don't buy the most expensive food, etc.
you're a fucking faggot
In /smtg/, where most people are normal.
If you were a NEET, you'd still somehow get money from somewhere and since you don't need to go out regularly for work, you also don't need to buy a lot of clothes or similar stuff. Pretty sure lots of NEETS waste their money for stupid shit they don't really need like almost everyone normal does.
yeah, everyone has access to jobs in every part of the world.
this nigga lost his shit real hard over a girl he claimed not to like, not to mention her being absolutely retarded. Fuck him, I didn't like him anyway.
Thanks for explaining what's wrong with my post and using capitalization to make reading easier. I'll never post shit like that ever again because I now know exactly what you don't like.
>luster candy and debilitate on demons
>mortal jihad on flynn
Yeah, it's shitty that the people she's trying to help would end up killing her, and that people that have done bad things might repeat them, but he doesn't need to be such a faggot about it.
I can't stop laughing at fundraising.
WHY ME BEING HUNTED?!
When you stun enemies and fundraise, it pretty much just seems like outright rape. In fact, the enemies in general sound like they're being raped any time you fundraise.
It helps knowing that the best way to keep on Fundraising successfully the same enemy over and over again, is to inflict bind/stun on them.
After all, when they're bound/stunned, they can't resist your attempts to take their money
and their maidenhood, in >>90827763's case.
Why yes, it's EXACTLY what it sounds like.
Especially if you go with "bind".
Soul Hackers might very well have the best characters and plot of any non-Persona game. I haven't checked the price recently, but I would think it is cheaper too.
Also it has best girl in it.
>Considering the fact that this is a series that deals with all manner of shit that normal people would shy away from
Learn to read. I wasn't the one who came up with that argument.
>need to smuggle navarre out of mikado
>angels aint shit, even if they are hyper buffed, i can take them on pretty quick
>Second angel encounter just spams megido until party is dead.
>bad company gets me back to full party in 1 turn
>turn 2 angels just gang up and do regular attacks on navarre, he goes down in 3 hits
>load file, try again with anti magic party ready to repel everything
>take them out with no damage to navarre.
>next angel encounter just attacks navarre right from the start and kills him
>reload, avoid the angels this time, get to the boss
>kazfiel gets the first turn, uses it to kill navarre in 1 turn
>saved right before the fight so im good, reload, try again
>same thing happens over and over
How the fuck am i supposed to do this?
I dont even get a single turn
smt's plot runs on "GO TO NEXT COOL LOOKING LOCATION TO BEAT UP A NEW DEMON THAT WILL SAY SOMETHING NONSENSICAL AND SEE COOL MORE DESIGNS"
there isnt really a plot, its more on atmosphere and gritting your teeth as you turn a wrong corner and trigger a bossbatle
>Die a lot
>Fuse what I need
>Run from demon encounters
>Get my ass kicked A LOT
>Die to Minotaur and Medusa multiple times, beat them eventually
>Die a lot on the scaffolding
>Get to the country of the unclean ones
>Mfw barely dying
Did I git gud, or did the difficulty drop?
How hard is it to find a copy of Strange Journey? It's 2x as expensive on Amazon and it doesn't even show up on my local gamestore's site. I've played half of 4, a few hours of Nocturne, and a few hours of Strange Journey (Nocturne and SJ both on an emulator) but I really don't like playing handheld games on emulators.
it's cheaper to get an acekard for your ds, and then you can play literally every single ds game on your ds
if you don't wanna do that then you can probably find SJ cheaper on ebay
Why does almost every game try to make you feel stupid if you choose any alignment besides neutral? It's not much of a choice if one of them is clearly superior and/or obviously intended by the developers
>It's not much of a choice
If you choose by gameplay, you're right. Neutral in almost every game besides Nocturne where you'd choose TDE.
If you choose by the "philosophical/moral" aspect of the ending, it's obviously a choice you have to think about unless you're a neuter because thinking is hard.
I feel really sorry for the neutrals who really thought about their alignment and why they chose their ending because they get flooded with retarded neuters who think that's the only "good ending" and call endings like the White "bad ending" which triggers my autism a lot, evem more so if they regard White as the only one bad.
I love the alignment system but in Strange Journey it's pretty annoying when I spend an entire area fusing and getting the perfect team with matching alignments, then one choice I make changes my alignment completely.
Evens, I make Betatron and beat up Lucy
Odds, I grind enough macca to get Masakado+fuse all the demons I want
How useful is luck in Nocturne, and is a luck build viable on hard?
>Emailing out a program that lets you control demons to thousands of random people on the off chance that one of them will actually believe you and not use it like a fucktard
What could possibly go wrong?
A lot of things. But he accounted for all that, right?
>Dante wears red and has experiences with demons
>Steven wears red and has experiences with demons
Persona 5 will feature Donte from the Devil May Cry series.
Does anyone have that image of Flynn kissing Hikaru and walter arm screaming internally?
Alright fuckers, where's the Hikaru doujin? I know you have it.
It was never scanned and you'll never be able to read it
I don't think so. It's not like she's pretending to be a boy or something. I wonder how many female samurai there have been. Obviously an appreciable amount else there wouldn't even be a female samurai outfit. I wonder if the bra comes with the outfit. So many questions.
What the hell is up with the upper floors in the Amami Monolith? It's like every enemy suddenly has strike and slash resist. Enemies that are over fifteen levels lower than I am are suddenly taking way more hits to kill. And surprise attacks are showing up way more often
I know but that seems a little constraining. I know cosplayers who bind and from what I hear it's not comfortable. I think something more comfortable would be needed for a samurai.
Then again, Mikado is a pretty medieval society.
>About to beat an SMT game
>decide to grind so I can fill out my compendium
>then try to get as many casino coins as i can because they transfer over to ng+
>so on and so forth
>end up never beating the game to a point where i can put it down because i linger before the final boss grinding for the NG+ i'll never do
You guys managed to become even BIGGER faggot than you were before.
>NEETS waste their money for stupid shit they don't really need
Maybe out of necessity. There probably aren't really bras in Mikado aside from the primitive stuff, poor thing. I can just imagine her looking through the ruins of a lingerie shop in Tokyo and being enraptured by an actual lacy bra.
So what do we have to look forward to this year? Break Record, Persona 5 (?), possible Devil Summoner anniversary thing?
Please kill yourselves.
Try not to feel too bad.
Mikado is just the place built over tokyo though
Although it does make me wonder if theres other places like that in the world
We'll never know though since tokyo is the only city that matters
leaving to pick one of these up still not sure which to get. I only have money for one at the moment
I wait for PQ then. Any rough idea when Atlus games go on sale after release? I think SMT IV took a year but I feel like it was sooner than that
SH is $25 where I'm at. I missed the eShop sale apparently so I'll just get it physically
That always puzzled me. It's called, "The Eastern Kingdom of Mikado". What is it east of? Why not just, "The Kingdom of Mikado"?
And then there's kiccigori, a village, some distance away. Are there oceans on top of the plate?
Any one got more SMT x FE fanart? I love shit like this.
>People thinking SMTxFE is kill
They said they are on track with development. It will be a long as time until they give us more news, look at DeSu2 BR.
>People thinking SMTxFE is kill
I thought this was a joke? I know I joke when I say it.
I want Isabeau to kill herself after realizing she's spent her entire life as a disgusting, fence-sitting neutral.
Oh wait that can actually happen in a SMT game
>not every game has a Jack Frost mascot
>no Jill Frost for P3P female route
>no Samheeho Jack for SMTIV
>No Kuheehoza for DebiSama
>No SpookHee for Soul Hackers

>it would print money for atlus and nintendo
Time trial implies you moving forward or back through time. And no, it doesn't happen after strange journey. As a matter of fact, outside of the demonica nothing from strange journey is referenced.
Great rebuttal. You sure showed me. If you have to resort to ad hominem attacks you're basically admitting that you lost the argument.
Imagine if, for example, SMT5 had Gauntlets in it. That's more than just a passing reference.
There is literally nothing else in SMTIV that references Strange Journey. There is no basis for a substantial, significant reason for there being Demonicas. It's just there because it's cool. You find the black demonica in the Japan Demon Defense Base or some shit, right? Maybe it's a split timeline like If... and SMT1, maybe. Maybe it's something else.
Is snes emulation on the PSP better now? I tried playing SMTII on it last year and the framerate was affecting the music. I would play it on my phone but it drains battery fast and the onscreen buttons just take me out of it
I just noticed that Soul Hackers had a cellphone sequel called Soul Hackers Intruder. I know we are never getting that game translated, but does anyone have a summary of the plot beyond the game taking place six months later?
Daily reminder that SMT IV was shit and that Nintendo needs to fuck off and stop putting games that were born (Megami Tensei) and peaked (Nocturne) on consoles on their disgusting fucking handhelds, and also need to stop shoving their shitty childish universes into SMT (with the likes of Fire Emblem) because they are afraid the FE name won't sell on it's own. Fire Emblem is fine on it's own FTR.
Don't support their bullshit, SMT IV was the equivalent of the SMT iPhone port.
Demonheeho still makes my dick hard up to this day.
Especially because he is the biggest of bros and gives you crits for days when you fight the Whites.
fuck off retard, stop crippling the industry.
also smtIV wouldnt be first person if it was on cosoles, the battles would probably look more like nocturne which would be amazing but maybe smtIV would never have come out and we could have gotten dancing all night earlier.
I wonder if we'll get this dumb shit in the future. I mean, in the SMTiOS interview on Siliconera, they pretty much said "we've considered bringing this crap over but thought we might as well start with a classic".
The market for phone games in Japan is incredibly different to ours, though. I mean, shit, mobile phone culture in Japan has it's own Wikipedia article, and "Galopogization" is a term invented by Japanese professors to refer to the development of very advanced subbranches of technology, using Japanese phones as the main example.
>more like nocturne which would be amazing
Debatable. The price would be too big.
That isn't a troll or at least he speaks out what many idiots think. Also I only wrote one sentence.
Nice capitalization by the way. Keep up the good work. We really are a great general.
How well does Persona 2 explain Nyarlathotep?
I've read some Lovecraft novels and I still don't get that fucker. He is like an assistant of Azathoth, or is there more to it than that?
>Nice capitalization by the way. Keep up the good work. We really are a great general.
I can't tell if this is sarcasm, I can see someone actually being impressed by "/smtg/" being lowercase and I can see someone thinking it should be capitalized.
How much is even fucking spelt out about any Lovecraft deity? Like, shit, Cthulhu is a high priest or some shit? We know they're horrible space things but I'm pretty sure there's some kind of hierarchy that's hinted at and I can barely remember any of it.
Nyarlathotep's design is also at least partially based on one of the creatures from that story.
Forgot to add interpunctuation, that anon got it>>90916076. Also why would a guy that is too stupid to even make a full stop, bother with capitalizing?
Also that sentence was meant for everyone I quoted, that's why I did make a new paragraph. Why else would I have done that?
It's really funny that you're that retarded that I had to explain it to you.
Will do. I've actually got an anthology of Lovecraft stories; pretend this post has a picture of me holding the book open to The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath with the post behind it because I'll be fucked if I can get a good photo of it.
Is that a question? If so why would you ask me?
Well, I guess it'd feel better than being either too retarded to write properly or underage or simply an idiotic asshole thinking "I'm free to write as shitty as I want as long as others understand me!"
Recently I saw a guy writing a setence without a comma, completely changing the meaning of the sentence he intended, had a good laugh.
What about Soul Hackers New Generation
Alright, finished my second (and probably final) playthrough of SMT IV with the neutral ending.
I have to say that this ending felt very satisfying even though I'm still confused about certain things. While I guess that it isn't a perfect happy ending, it did feel like the best possible end result for the shitty (for humanity) world that the game took place in.
Overall I thought SMT IV was a lot of fun. There were some things that bothered me like the kind of crappy map system without clear objectives, but the game was good enough to keep me playing for over a hundred hours.
i'm not sure if they pop up again later with more dialog or not (still working through the game), but i think that's it. you swear not to bully demons anymore and they cheer about the defeat of another "evil" devil buster. i'm fairly certain you never fight them nor recruit them - i don't remember seeing them on devil summoner's akuma zensho disc at least, but i could be wrong about this
Chimp or not, I'd still hit it like the fist of an angry god.
also here's one more because I feel like it. I bet she does glute exercises.
If it wasn't for that one line where (your) Burroughs brags about you being good at shit and says she'll lord it over the other Burroughs, I'd have completely forgotten the other Samurai had gauntlets.
Marth's busy consoling SMT1 Hero over the loss of his friends

I just bought Strange Journey off of Amazon yesterday brand new for 30 buckaroonis, hopefully it gets here soon. It's pretty bunk that Strange Journey is three times as expensive as SMT IV (It was on sale). Strange Journey is a much better game than 4 in my opinion.
I've read several reviews of the game, and I've talked to and asked several people here what their opinion of Strange Journey is compared to the other games. I played enough to get an understanding of most of the mechanics and everything I've read would lead me to believe that the game doesn't drop in quality, like SMT 4 does, which I've beaten.
I understand that hearing someone say that SMT 4 isn't perfect upsets you, but it will be alright. When you finish 8th grade you'll learn that not everyone has to like the same things as you.
???? You're acting like I'm praising a game I've never played so I told you what I know about it. You're the one getting angry that I said anything good about it. I don't know if you're purposefully being dense, or you're trying to be an epic troller.
Can you guys be civil and just discuss how awesome strange journey is instead of arguing about whether or not smtiv is a better or worse than sj
>No I mean you're hastily trying to justify your preference
Well we aren't face to face. How am I supposed to respond in a way that isn't hastily, besides sitting here and waiting 5 minutes to respond? Obviously you do care or else you wouldn't have gotten so defensive.
What are you talking about? You said that I haven't played the game, so I told you I emulated it. You said that I hadn't played enough to compare them, so I told you I've read reviews and talked to people here.
I don't know why you're exaggerating so much, and gathering so much from 2 sentences.
Yeah but if you really thought that SJ was better you wouldn't feel the need to even defend your opinion. Like who cares, it's just some greentext.
You're a pretty insecure fucker.
Jesus christ I heard this music so many fucking times during the 200 floors of tartarus that I know this shit like the palm of my hand.
The negative side is that I have the action selection wheel *click* ingrained in it too
How does that make any sense at all?
I'm insecure because I came to a SMT image board, and when something said something to be about SMT I responded? Why are you even here if you think talking about the game is insecurity?
Alright then Mr. Armchair Psychologist, in the future I'll refrain from responding to posts about this game while I'm on an imageboard dedicated to it. Thanks for enlightening me.
Clearly you have me mixed up with some other, chaos loving individual.
I don't know, it probably also makes it harder to run from battle. End point is that there's nothing really dynamic about it. There's no downside to starting with Hard and switching to Normal or something if you don't like it though. Just remember that SMTIV's combat is exceptionally brutal in the opening.
I don't want more replies
You guys are cooler
Yes, along with everything else smt related. What I don't want is the endless waifu bullshit that goes down in /pg/
It's pretty terrible over there. Anyway we've been having good discussions concerning p2 recently because myself and a few other anons are playing through it
I personally don't mind persona talk, as long as it isn't people talking about which girl from Persona 4 they want to have sex with. If I had a Vita I'd get P4G and I'd probably love it, but I prefer SMT because I'm not as big into things like social links, and it can attract a lot of annoying discussion.
So I just killed Kuebiko. My reason for doing so was that he eats people and all.
But now I'm starting to doubt my decision because of the things he said before and during the fight.
Did you guys kill Kuebiko or let him live?
Let him live.
They decide to leave forever anyways. Plus the people he ate are people who instigated fights with him, which he makes clear to the Hunters threatening him. As if him and his Jirae kin don't put up with that from the foreign demons as it is.
At first I thought he was dead, but as I looked, a green sparkle came into his sunken eyes, his mutilated hand trembled, and then a spasm stretched his mouth from ear to ear. For a moment my terror and despair gave place to hope, but as I bent over him his eyeballs rolled clean around in his head, and he died. Then while I stood, transfixed with rage and despair, seeing my crown, my empire, every hope and every ambition, my very life, lying prostrate there with the dead master, THEY came, seized me from behind, and bound me until my veins stood out like cords, and my voice failed with the paroxysms of my frenzied screams. But I still raged, bleeding and infuriated among them, and more than one policeman felt my sharp teeth. Then when I could no longer move they came nearer; I saw old Hawberk, and behind him my cousin Louis' ghastly face, and farther away, in the corner, a woman, Constance, weeping softly.
"Ah! I see it now!" I shrieked. "You have seized the throne and the empire. Woe! woe to you who are crowned with the crown of the King in Yellow!"
>Fighting SDF Tamers on day 6
>The very last one manages to escape with 1 hp on his leader while I'm 1 step away from reaching him
>Get mad because Ym is on another guy
>Close 3ds and go to the gym
>1 hour later at the gym I remember that I had a basilisk that I could've just summoned and finished off the guy
At least I'm learning
If they didn't live in Tokyo they wouldn't need to eat some people anyways. They live off the fertile earth, which Tokyo barely has. What little fertile land it does have is used to grow Ashura-kai crops.
So there's a glitch in smt iv where if you die then tell Charon that you want to pay in play coins the value shows in macca instead
Unfortunately he actually charges for the play coins and not the 12 macca
Shit. My memory on some of smt is keypoints is little hazy. Guys, was it ever explained why red pills turned people to demons? It WAS the red pills that did that right? Or did it kill them.
Luck also affects drops I heard.
Personally, I think it affects
>Critical hit rate
>Chance to take less regular and / or crit damage
>Chance to deal more regular and / or crit damage
>The quality of items from Item Find
>Chance of ailments landing successfully
>Chance of ailments lasting longer
>Chance of demons accepting your offered items / Macca / HP / MP more easily
i.e. not running away with all the shit you gave them like assholes
A bit too much, maybe?
>tfw Pascal the dog is actually here
If anyone has one, requesting a pic of SMT I Hero smiling a huge smile, hugging Pascal's Cerberus form, with Pascal licking his face
Alright so here's a good story. I was talking with a friend on Skype about the game after I had finished the law ending and nearly finished neutral (which I finished now). He was also nearly done with the game. Hikaru came up and I said that she was always suspicious to me. I figured that since she was able to walk around above ground she was probably some demon.
>probably some demon
We then decided to look up Hikaru for the hell of it. I lol'd. He also kept quoting "probably some demon" over and over.
Nice story man.
>look up Hikaru for the hell of it
I take it you found out it means "light". As in the "lightbringer" Lucifer?
>a friend on Skype
Just wondering, what's your alignment? And your friend's?
In the first playthrough I ended up in law. In my second I ended up neutral. My friend ended up on neutral on his first playthrough.
And yeah, we found out that Hikaru meant light and that she was part of the identity of Lucifer. I just found the understatement of "probably some demon" hilarious in hindsight given that she turns out to be the fucking Demon Lord himself.
Just started DDS today, and I'm not really liking it so far. The lack of recruitable demons/demon fusion takes out a lot of what I liked about other SMT games and the main characters don't really seem interesting. Is it worth it to keep playing?
At the beginning where all the tribe leaders are summoned to that large tower. I realize I'm judging it too quickly, but that's partly because I'm bummed out about no recruiting demons.
I think this is as close as you'll get.
This is the best I'll give you, you nihilo faggot.
Makes sense to me. She looks the same before and after the great destruction.
I don't know for sure about the players themselves, but the dude who wrote the original MT books said that most of Atlus were inclined towards Neutral or Chaos during SMT1's development. Of course, things change.
So aside from that little title bullshit, why do you guys say that Persona isn't smt? If... Leads into it and devil summoner is within the same timeline isn't it? I'd say that makes it pretty smt if it shares the universe with smt.
Sure, go ahead. I didn't expect anything from you anyway.
An anon said we talk about as much waifu shit as /pg/ does but upon review of both threads I would like to tell that anon to shut the fuck up because we certainly do not.
Anyway don't merg /pg/ with us cause fuck that waifu shit.
Don't do it anon.
The pastebin simply looks stupid, and our few philosophy and gameplay discussions will be overriden by waifu fagotry.
I like to play both Persona and SMT, but I like the way things are.
>Also late thread's theme
Finally found a damn ss of her. Yeah, I was just kind of thrown off by her looking maybe older. Doesn't she die after the bombs?
anyone have links to both Raidou osts? Links in pastebin are dead. please help
Am I the only one that thinks that chaos dimension Tokyo seems like a pretty great place to live? While I'm more of a law guy, it seems like the ideal state chaos can reach plus by the end of the game it seems to be settling down so things will probably stop being on fire all the time soon. Being a Demonoid seems pretty awesome and nourishers don't have it too bad off.
It's pretty good for chaos.
No actually people talk about how respected Nourishers are pretty much a protected people since every demonoid likes using them. It's a symbiotic relationship.
All I can remember is that one demonoid commenting on how one of the nourishers had nothing left. Not even beating her was getting a response. It's not good for the nourishers. You are left a husk. Also, how good can it really get in chaos Tokyo? It's not like anyone would have a fancy apartment. Everything is in ruins. All they get is I guess not being taken by someone truly awful.
Just connected my psv to the network for the first time in six months and it started downloading p3p.
How did I get this game for free without even doing anything?
Most Neurishers don't get drained though. They are still alive years later. Only one got drained and she just stopped making anything. Couldn't even take care of her normal human kid as a result and told no one about him.
The Demonoid who ate her decides to raise the kid, though he isn't enthused about the idea.
Plus there are other Neurishers who like their situation. One girl who gets attention from dudes when as a normal girl she was considered ugly, and even female Demonoids are jealous.
Another considers Kenji their savior because while his method isn't perfect, he made sure to wipe out the likes of Xi Wangmu and others who just go around eating all the humans they can.
She wasn't a very good Neurisher then. One woman gloats over her new popularity since she gives good emotions and has like 4 demonoids at her beck. I mean, being a Neurisher is a choice, same with being a demonoid.
I imagine then Demonoids would gain more prestige by becoming stronger, while Neurishers climb up the social ladder by inspiring more emotion, being better actors/performers/singers/whatever. So you have a world of chaos that represents both raw strength and individual creativity.
With some reforms (and rebuilding shit, etc) that wouldn't be too bad.
That happened because she was trying to take on too much by herself and didn't let anyone know what was going on with her. She didn't even try to tell said Demonoid she had a kid, nor did she inform anyone else. He had to stumble upon the kid himself.
Neurishers love watching Demonoids beat the shit out of each other on TV as well.
I'm not sure if the DL links still work, but they are found here.
>tfw site is still on hiatus and the links are dying one by one.
Maybe we're on a roll here. Anyone want to try make Blasted Tokyo into something actually interesting? Maybe after some time everyone goes back into the desert and they become nomadic travellers not unlike the culture that spawned the major monotheistic religions? Like a full circle kind of thing.
Or not, considering Blasted Tokyo was meant to kill the non-chosen...
The P2 cast seems to be such a unique bunch, and the game's also got lots of lovecraftian lore.
I guess I'll try to emulate it.
I have some questions though:
Is the gameplay of P1 and 2 as bad as they say it is?
I can play SMT1, 2 and Soul Hackers without a single problem, how different is the gameplay from those games?
I personally love p1s battle system but I guess to the vast majority, yes. P1 has some pretty crummy combat. P2IS isn't as bad and P2EP is very fast once you got your bearings but in my personal opinion ep has the worst negotiating.
Take note that ep never got its psp version localized so either play the ps version which is fine or sit and wait for this fan translation that just started a few months ago.
As a note, you CAN play ep on its own but it won't be anywhere near as satisfying.
I loved p1 and is, and I'm enjoying ep the most right now.
