In SMT IV, are there any apps you should get asap apart from the mandatory ones, or does it not really matter?

I'm not very far into the game just got to Tokyo, but it seems to me I want almost all of them even though I have no way to pay for them.

I'm standing around the fountain in West Shinjuku Park, entering DLC, exiting DLC and wandering around for a few seconds before repeating.

So far I've bought a couple of extra demon slots and one extra skill slot for both the MC and my demons. I've also got Demonlingual and the skills that give you macca and items when you recruit someone.

Is there any app that actually makes recruiting demons easier? I try to recruit one of every new demon I encounter, and it gets frustrating having to blindly guess what answer is the right one all the time.

Scout up, Scout Bonus, Scout + are probably the most useful ones. Especially Scout + since you get two demons for one talk pretty often.

No such app but there is one that decreases their demands somewhat. I never noticed much difference with it.

In case you didn't know, most demons won't like if you just give them everything they want. They'll think you're a pushover and run off with your shit.
If you feel you've given them plenty but also used refuse once or twice, hit end talk. 90% of the time they'll be cool with it.

Okay, so it's time that I start thinking about the final boss in SMTIV. I'm kind of concerned because I've sort of fucked up my party. I've been trying to make all my demons pretty much jack-of-all-trades, meaning that they all have one of each of the four elemental skills, a gun skill, a healing skill, and War Cry/Dekaja.

However, I know that the final boss (at least in the Chaos route) has no elemental weaknesses. So I'm kind of screwed in that respect. I guess instead I need to focus on physical skills with high crit rates, which I've pretty much ignored for the entire game. What are some good ones, and where might I be able to get them?
