If Jack the Tripper is really telling the truth about Sho's developer codename being "P5HERO", that would leave us with only 4 possibilities:

1. The developers are cleverly trolling data miners
or
2. They are actually serious about making Sho the next main protag and crashing this series with no survivors
or
3. They will headline Sho for P5 only as bait, where his playable role will be minimal and soon replaced by a Raiden
or
4. Persona 5 will have multiple playable protagonists, each with a seperate and equally sized segment for him/her self, and Sho will be one of them

I'm not too optimistic at this point, so I'm prepared for the worst (number 2).

Basically P3, P4 and P5 are confirmed to be the same world. P3 already continued from P2, so unless Hashino is 100% determined to erase P1 and P2, it means it's not just the same universe, but same world as in how P3 and P4 are now closely connected by having both casts interacting.

Personally I wouldn't mind. I don't have a PS3 and this way I won't need to buy one for P5, because I won't give a shit about it.

Is anyone here ACTUALLY thinking that P5 is gonna be a flop?

I mean its the same people who are in charge of the previous main Persona games and they clearly care about making a good game. Their last major game was Catherine and that turned out okay, right?

Even if Sho does become the new protag of P5 for lack of a better reason, I'm pretty sure they have a legitimate reason for putting an existing character as the protagonist of the new game.

Keep in mind that Sho IS designed by the same guy who made all the other Persona characters and P5 IS directed by the same guy who made the other main Persona games.

Dunno bout Shoji Meguro as that guy is working on Dancing All Night and that must be some hidden agenda or he REALLY likes making music for Persona games

Yes they did great games, but it's also a fact that they keep going safer and safer. They keep making the games easier, with more pandering and waifushit.
I somehow understand it, they are a pretty small company. But with P3 they got some success, so for the next game they toned down everything that the fans disliked and multiplied the dating sim stuff that made P3 successful.
P4 now is a real success. So even if P5 is unrelated to the P4 cast, I think it will be even more "safe." I expect lots of friendship, even more silly antics and absolutely nothing that could make otaku feel inadequate.

What this anon said. Not targeting persona 4 exclusively each game has its fair share of generic moeblob stuff but it was the worst offender when it came to anime tropes.

I wanted to enjoy it as much as the others anon but it just didn't hold up. The dungeons were a nice touch made the game feel personalized, but there was only a small handful and you never needed to grind and they could all be completed in one sitting. Combat was polished over p3 but was easy and felt simplified. Persona designs were some of my favorites though and the models were nice so I'll give them credit where its due.
