You have to understand that OP maker is a big fan of air games in xcom.
So its a joke
>tfw you lose your mission 1 sharpshooter
>Trying to advance research/scan stuff for resources.
>Literally every day someone has a new super important mission for me to do.
>Literally can't do anything or let my soldiers heal because they keep getting stuck doing more missions.
I keep having to send Rookies in because I can't even get my Guerrilla Warfare up and running. Can't they fucking give me a break? I haven't even opened up the next area because I'm just constantly spammed.
At least pic related happened.
>; FallbackExclusionList includes all character template names that will never fallback to the mission objective location.
Just digging through the ini to see if there is some interesting stuff to note. I think this just means that these units will always chase you to the ends of the earth once they see you.
poison counters them pretty hard, they won't move if you hit them with a gas nade
but they don't seem to give a shit about flashbangs for whatever reason, guess bangs don't limit mobility any more?
First of all fuck you for being incompetent.
As far as cracked games go... Did you put it in program files (x86)? Did you run as administrator? Did you apply crack? Did you turn off false positive anti virus software during install?
No is not really good. Passable maybe but that's an stretch.
I still want to see what the Firestorm will look like in XCOM 2.
Plus, I want to do more than just running away from UFOs.
>LastResortTargetEffects: Targets that have any of these effects will not be considered as valid target unless no other targets are available.
So apparently aliens don't consider your panicked troops as valid targets if they can shoot anyone else? Can any confirm this, just seems odd that aliens wouldn't target a panicked soldier who flanks themselves.
>FallbackChance=0.5f ; Chance to fall back to mission objective when unit is the last remaining unit in a multi-unit group
Didn't read further. This is what it means. These aliens will never retreat.
Yes, yes, yes, yes and also turned off firewall, tried restarting computer, and all the other misc suggestions.
No, the game starts and immediately crashes. Doesn't give an error.
>tfw you didn't join XCOM to save the world
>you're just in it to kill the ayys and defile their women
>welcome to earf
I missed most of the day. Did Beagle had a stream today? Any Highlights worth mentioning?
Hey it's me, a fellow Advent who loves the alien overlords
Let me in
>Chryssalid overwatch lets them attack whoever the fuck they want to attack so long as they are in movement range
What kind of bullshit is this. I moved a grenadier with three armor and hazmat near where a chryssalid was burrowed and the fucker popped out IGNORED THE GRENADIER and made a huge fucking move to attack my gunslinger.
The thumbnail makes those Gremlins look like Interceptors flying by, protecting the Avenger from possible UFO counter-attacks during the recovery maneuvers.
>mfw now have 2 badass fem rangers with deadeye
that shit is just nuts on a shard gun with
it's an arc thrower. equip it on a soldier and get into melee range
however DO NOT use that shit until you're ready. Because after you use it fucking codexs will start spawning 2+ times for every goddamn mission and codexs are easily the most bullshit enemy in xcom 2
also complete the proving ground project for skull mining, it gives skulljacks +25 hack skill which is godlike for specialists
>When you land all the shots just right
>Play XCOM2 on the difficulty under Legendary
>Do the tutorial just to see cutscenes
>First mission has the mandatory rookie deaths
>Second mission starts
>Ok this is a long tutorial as I haven't started base building and scanning yet
>It's not a tutorial
>Two weeks in 3 Guerrilla ops, Retaliation and one VIP misison
>Lose four rookies and one squaddie by then
Holy fuck this game is kicking my ass and I love it. At May now and I feel like I'm ahead but I'm expecting the game to fuck me at any moment.
>Base Generic Enemy
>even if flanked at the start of your turn, don't immediately back off - instead, try to see if a normal move, which automatically attempts to not be flanked has a valid destination.
; if it does, great, take that move. If it doesn't (i.e. returns false), and you're flanked, then you can go to a fall back move to get out of being flanked, though by all means... KEEP LINE OF SIGHT if possible!
Don't break LOS?
>will also try to shoot, even if flanked, if the hit chance is over 66% or the target target is wounded / likely to be killed on a hit and the hit chance is at least 50%.
Flanked enemies will take good shots, they won't automatically run away.
>second mission with jake
>activate a muton, 2 viper pod
>kill the muton, but the vipers are alive
>viper 1 pulls and binds jake while the second one poisons him.
>Combat protocol the viper off, heal jake, and have him finish it off.
>Second viper wants a piece of that fine ass too and pulls and binds him.
>Sniper with a stock knocks her off jake.
>Jake puts down the second viper too.
I just got my ass kicked on one on Commander, but I made a string of stupid mistakes trying to save a downed trooper.
Take your time, you do literally have all the time in the world on blacksite missions. Also pepper your angus for a MEC in close quarters.
Im running on high textures with AA off, Vsync is a must, and shawdows option turned down to directional only. The rest is medium or off.
The game is playable.
I cant even play the damn thing right now, and apparently I'm not alone.
I think its worth it. I was hype as fuck for it this week waiting on it and all.
The game's difficulty is definitely higher compared to Xcom1, its like long war's difficulty was taken as the baseline. Youll get your shit pushed in by the starting enemies, especially the sectoids which can just cuck your shit up if not taken out asap.
So I feel that its worth it, the only legit complaint is stuttering, but i think thats because of the game loading and there is also some weird frame rate drops occasionally at odd times like when using a battle scanner in certain locations, but they havent taken away from me absolutely loving the game.
>Reach the MEC
>Previous mission my offesnive hacker got Haywire
>mfw making it Allah ackbar the pod it spawned with then tank the 2nd pod thatw as in the room
I would edit it to be xcom/advent, but I'm too lazy
Well, you could buy it now if you want, give it a try for the 90-120 minutes Steam allows then refund if you get unplayable performance then just keep an eye on it until it gets any patches or improvements.
For what it's worth, my performance while below what it should be hasn't stopped me from playing at all. I get full 60fps when playing, it's just made me dial it down to medium instead of high settings. I don't regret buying it.
>have to destroy a transmission relay
It's stationed in a small building in the middle of a parking lot with zero cover in it's proximity
>there's a pod of mutons inside it
>if I blow the walls to shoot the relay the pod gets activated and I have to kill them and waste turns
>if I try to push my squad up to destroy it they get caught in half cover and proceed to get anally penetrated by muton grenades and bayonets
>pretty much half to sacrifice two people to destroy the relay in the 1 turn I have remaining
RIPIP Guldayev and Adamson
Jake likes his snakes with Extreme Prejudice.
>; MicroMissiles is an Active(2)
ADVENT MEC Mk2
>; MEC Mk 2 can target only a sinlge enemy with its micro missiles.
MEC1 only uses Micro Missiles when they can hit more than one soldier
The MEC2 will target a single soldier with Micro Missiles
>'oh its just a scarier looking sectoid with a pipboy and more life'
>'ill ignore it and take out the dude with the scarf'
>sectoid mind controls 1
>then reanimates the dude you just killed
>goes around and flanks you afterward
Shit is worse than fighting thinmen at times.
It's harder than Long War imo because of the timers. LW team didnt want timers but I XCOM2 made them work and it feels good blowing holes in a wall and going loud to get to a goal in time.
That is why you bring a sharpshooter, they can reliably one shot the relay early game. All you have to do is get another soldier in range of it. You could have even had him run up to provide the squadsight then fall back
the timers are not a big deal. desu i haven't been punished for being too slow yet at all, and it makes me wonder how these shitters are fucking up so bad they're losing entire squads because they couldn't uphold the time limit.
also, the idea that seems to be going around that "timers aren't tactical" is absolutely fucking retarded. no, you're not allowed to move 2 tiles per turn until every situation is in your favor. but to claim there aren't multiple routes to objectives, multiple angles/terrains to work, multiple ways to deal with multiple types of packs is fucking absurd
>; Updated Suppression for mutons to have a chance of 10% per visible ally.
>; 66% chance to PsiReanimate, 33% chance to Mind Spin ( if both are available ). Otherwise use whatever is available.
So traveling on the map seems to spend time on the clock in the corner but doesn't seem to advance research or anything, what's up with that? Does avatar progress or anything bad actually advance while I'm flying around?
You know what the worst part is? If they run out of psychic bullshit to pull on you or get flashbanged, they suddenly remember they have a gun. Every time I've seen a sectoid shoot something it's hit and 4/5 times it's critted.
I agree, you can always just say fuck the meld and retreat then let the niggers come to you. Cant really do that with timed missions and they are definitely done right, I agree that it feels incredible when you just go loud and fast, blowing shit up to get the objective on the final turn.
I dont really understand why people cry about it so much and I feel that those who do cry about it just are too used to overwatch turtling and playing ultra safe or get cucked because they think they will have extra moves after reaching the VIP or whatever.
the stun lancer is worse than chrysalids
im nerfing their health down to 3 in the ini. Fucking bullshit enemy.
If you dont kill them in the first turn they appear SOMEONE is getting fucked.
So it has to be used when the soldier is alive then?
Am I forced to use it? I'm not the best Xcom player, and I'm not that far in right now, so I don't really want to forcefully complicate the game for myself right now, not until I get some better shit.
I don't get why people underestimate them.
>Pectoid with 2 troopers
>Has a plasma weapon and can do Psi shit while the troopers suck ass
What one is more likely to fuck your ozone?
I've never had much trouble with them though, so. They always seem to prioritize making zombies in my game, which is nice.
Because they look better. Plus the battlecruisers are fucking 100x better as Vaygr because they shoot that big fucking red plasma or whatever then launch a bunch of missiles from the top, where Hiigaran just sweep laser beams over and over.
the game isn't perfect, but imo the design decisions regarding the dynamics between the concealment system and the timed missions is really smart and works really well. makes you actually have to plan your moves, and actually try to set up advantageous situations
>Still on my first playthrough
>Survived through the power of savescum and frag grenade
Mix of guilt and fun, it's an abstract kind of feeling
Because of Beagle
He said sectoids are useless
People here actually complained for 5 threads how easy the game is even on legend
And now everyone is getting literally squad wiped on vet and coming here to bitch
At least you'll never know the pain of having to carry your xcom waifu's corpse back to the avenger.
I'm on commander and having heaps of fun, but I ran out of intel to do the redzone thing contact, I think I'm fucked. Might be first time ever I successfully finish XCOM with no restarts. Long War taught me well.
They are just the knew thinman.
New version of pic related with "STUNS" when?
No, they will still bumrush you. That's unavoidable. What IS avoidable is the chance for knocking your dudes out. If you have over 4 health, stun lancers cannot knock you out, only disorient or stun you.
Because if you come from xcom 1, directly to 2, you dont think much of them. You just think they got some visual upgrade and thats it. Its more of a 1st time surprise when theyll fuck you up.
I dont know what it is, but seeing those missiles slowly fly from one ship to another gives me such a fucking boner. Its the reason I started playing Vaygr over Hiigaran
Reposting from the last thread.
IF YOUR GAME IS RUNNING LIKE SHIT:
Follow the tweaks here; yes, they're from EU/EW. They still work, the Engine file is more-or-less the same.
This won't fix everything, but it definitely has a marked improvement on your quality of play.
I don't really watch other people playing vidya aside for some background noise.
At least not ones I haven't played/beat already.
Had no trouble adjusting.
Fuck Vipers tho.
>Dodge - Grazed
Just finished first mission, going to bed, please tell me once the game gets going all the cutscenes go away , they are a nice touch but defeat one of my favorite parts of EU/EW which was the emergent stories that could arise ,
First playthrough, especially if its your first xcom game ever I dont mind people savescumming.
Afterwards though, you got literally no fucking excuse as to why not play Ironman. If you just savescum to beat the game, your actions literally have no consequence because youll merely reset after making a bad decision and youll never get better.
Does corpse carry actually do anything? Ive carried an unconcious soldier before but I was even wondering if leaving them on the field would have any negative consequences, the obvious answer would be that you lose them, but just want to be 100% sure.
People forgot about beagleluck. According to the AI files, they have only a 66% chance of psizombie if a corpse is available. For beagle, they did it all the time, which made them predictable to him.
>; 66% chance to PsiReanimate, 33% chance to Mind Spin ( if both are available ). Otherwise use whatever is available.
That's sectoid AI
Would any of you guys be able to figure out how to give them a chance to simply shoot?
Like 33% to shoot if they have someone flanked or whatever
So annoying to see them use their shit abilities while they have people flanked
There it is

Well, I played ufo defense first. You don't underestimate those fuckers, ever.
Even the nu XCOM ones could score those lucky crits across the map...
Hiigaran Torp frigates without the upgrade are better. That splitting warhead.
Reminder. Faceless are the original Mutant Chias from Neopets.
If you complete a mission where you get auto-extracted at the end, usually the "kill all aliums" type mission objectives, then everyone is picked up in the skyranger.
If you complete a mission where you have to make it to an extraction point, and a soldier is left behind, they get captured. If you leave a dead body behind then you lose whatever custom mods/equipment they had.
>Does corpse carry actually do anything?
On missions where you have to extract to finish, yes. If you don't take back an unconscious dude, they get captured. If you don't take back a dead dude, you lose whatever equipment they had.
That is only partially true. At least from my own observations.
From what I've seen, if an attack takes you below 4 health you can be knocked out. Final health after the attack, rather than actual health is what is important.
So, is the avatar project another minigame, another time counter?
I'm only a few hours in, nothing special has happened, and I've defended 1-2 retaliation strikes, but the avatar project started at around 4-5 blips in... it's just increased again and I'm heading to a retaliation site, so how do you freeze or revert the process?
I did that. It wasn't hard since I just took out a patrol and had nothing else around. Got to unload a full round into it. Sniper shot took it under half, it split, then grenades and sword on the last ones
Did mai Dr Mengle knock off waifu turn Quisling?
The Bull Moose has died. A faceless came and ripped his head off.
>Sectoids consider the corpses they reanimate their children
>activate a pod with a snake in it
>kill the dudes and fail at killing the snake
>snake retreats into the fog and goes into another pod
this shit is the worst. Also I managed to activate the pod with a snake and the mec one time. If it wasnt for no turn timer, I wouldve been so fucked. Literally backing up and firing/overwatch/reloading was enough to handle it but took like 10 fucking turns.
any time an advent supply raid comes up you fucking take the opportunity.
>Enemy VIP capture mission
>Sneaking to the VIP so I can grab and run
>Scanner thing blocks my path
>Hack it to trun it off
>60% Disorent or 5% Intel Lead
Eh fuck it Ill go loud and take the mind control, Im almost to the VIP
>VIP group lights up as I take over someone right ontop of the VIP
wait why are all the enemies still red?
>Fucking realize it randomly mind controlled the FUCKING VIP
>No chance to move the VIP
>Killed by the Viper that was guarding him at the start of the next turn
Are you kidding me? I'm still in ballistics and kevlar and I'm fighting fucking mutons and berserkers. Only because the game doesn't seem to want to give me any advent troopers.
>The Bull Moose has died. A faceless came and ripped his head off.
It takes more than that to kill a bull moose.
>Black South African squad-mate
>Accent sounds like Crocodile Dundee doing an impersonation of Leonardo DiCaprio from Blood Diamond
I appreciate they tried but, holy shit, that is the absolute worst
>get a black squad member
>white-ify him immediately
Feels almost as good as changing the majority of my women to men.
she is modelled after a friend I didn't want to put her real last name in and couldn't come up with a decent name so I just remembered how much I'd like to put my dick in her mouth.
so civs just chill at the playground with mutons?
I am fucking retarded, thank you.
>Feels almost as good as changing the majority of my women to men.
If I get a russian key does it mean I have to use a VPN only when I activate or every time I play it too?
Time for a poll now that the game is released. Curious if opinions changed.
I'm going to try adding that to the Ranger to see if it procs on sword kills. Which tier has the worst abilities?
>random soldier looks just like ride
>he gets fucking rapid fire from AWC
he got pretty NOIDED by some advent shitter last mission though
codexs are bullshit on a level never before seen, they are honestly worse than late game LW heavy floaters
I'll be honest, I've always wanted to be a tin-pot dictator ruling my own island nation with an iron fist, and I've always wanted to orchestrate my own guerilla campaign against evil overlords.
Between Tropico and XCOM, my life has meaning.
my god how do i not get fucked
should i be making connections as soon as i unlock them or go for the random supplies they scatter early on?
no alloys for upgrading my weapony
and the most unlucky fucking mind controls
these missions really hammer in the urgency with most of them having a time limit
ironman is rough but im only on veteran, im getting old and bad at games
fun game so far tho
Nice. Not a lot of games scratch my itch to be the evil overlord. Particularly the evil alien coalition overlords occupying Earth and using humans as auxiliaries.
In fact I don't think any games let me do that, unless you count Soulstorm with the Titan mod but that's kind of shit so.
>start a legend ironman run
>basic advent crits a rookie through full cover
believe it or not I got the advent VIP out alive
How often does the AWC proc bonus abilities?
I've seen that shit once so far and I really wish it happened more often.
My best soldier of this playthrough is almost top rank and hasn't had a bonus ability yet, feels bad.
nah, snake can wrap around you for 10x better cuddling
Until like an hour ago I had a single one in like 6 hours, then I just got like four in a row.
sometimes they're shit like ever vigilant or kinda shit like guardian but I have two Deadeye rangers and the RF mc ride
>She is at a point where most of her feminine attributes are gone.
She could beat the shit out of me and I'd thank her for the opportunity.
if the faceless already revealed itself you gotta kill it first.
hopefully you have a grenadier to fuck up the stun lancers. if not, just kill the faceless, fall back, and go into overwatch. mutons won't advance on you that much if they have good cover
legs look dumb, needs that glorious snake body
>Not Bill "The Thrill" Clinton
>Not John "Bulletproof" Kennedy
>Not William "The Shaft" Howard Taft
Step your Presidential naming game up son!
>MFW I made an entire block consisting of US pres.
>They all have the same Bio.
>The stories say when the United States sees its darkest hour, the spirits of its presidents while rise to defend the land they so loved and served.
I guess you could pretend but there's no representation of it. It's not like you're getting popups or seeing the human (or even other alien) side of things. Ah well. One day maybe.
Even though I'm a shitposter I would like that pool please.
On a sidenote can someone rebalance the perks like chainshot since rapid fire is basically a better version of it...
There's a sectopod and some friends around the corner too.
I used some of their actual nick names.
However I am going to be redoing Clinton as The Big Dog since that's a new nick name I've heard and I love it.
OH neat, got a new nick name for JFK "Crash Kennedy"
I was hoping someone had the tail edit of it.
>first encounter with a faceless on ironman
>went incredibly well nobody even fired at me
>faceless spawned after killing all the ayys somewhere to the east of the map
>move my forces in the general direction and overwatch
>he moves, takes 3 overwatch shots to the face and drops dead.
probably going to be the best mission in this entire save for me.
a bus spawned right in the fucking middle of the map blocking my sight and forcing me to dance around it, Without that, I would likely have had had only 1 civilian loss.
>Snek that can function normally
>The fear of it eating people mostly removed
>Lower energy requirements and increased mobility
>i'm the only one who voted for sneks
hell yea, I'd fight for Advent to have the opportunity to have a viper gf
Anyone else watching that bahroo guy right now
He's just spamming potshot while remaining static in one fucked up flanked spot
He keep taking 40% shot with his sniper on the ground, even some at close range instead of pistols and the entire chat is rambling about how "snipers suck" while the man complain about RNG
This is both a disgusting and entertaining sight
I used the actual nicknames for a couple of the less historically relevant presidents, but most just were snappy enough.
Some are in pretty poor taste too.
Such as Ronald "Where am I?" Regan
and Thomas "Junglefever" Jefferson
I need to make 10 more, I took a break to actually do a mission or two. Making them is how I keep sane when impossible ironman goes south on me because I grazed 5 shots in a row on a fucking snake.
I also have Andrzej Duda in the pool. With just the bio
>Don't forget Poland... Poland does forget you.
Coin flip came up heads, so Slick Willie it is.
...Slick Willie won't fit so I am spelling it Slick Willy
I've been doing a full(ish) bio outlining some of the shit they do and then a sentence or two as to why they are there (my commander is a necromancer).
i wish that artist would draw more snek
Advanced warfare center paying off
I don't understand how people are having trouble with this but maybe I'm not far enough in or I need to be playing on legendary.
>shit ton of health
>ambush invalidates the first pod of your choosing
>aliens spend their turns do useless shit (pectoids doubly so what's that wrist thing even do lmao)
>why is supply in the game has anyone had a supply issue ever?
I don't feel like listing all the other shit someone spot me.
Not that guy but no that's not a strategy to fight them. Their sprint is ridonculous, best either overwatch or boost protection on the closest to them with specialist.
>ching chong engineer sjw gamer girl
I dont know if the massive amount of health goes into the higher difficulties, but soldiers are almost walking tanks by the time theyre captain rank.
All your points are dead on, sectoids can fuck your shit though if they get lucky and you can very easily run out of supply but theres almost always 1 supply thing waiting for you to scan it and clearing debris gives more supply.
>tfw my ranger gets deadeye
>Don't even sword with her anymore, her shotgun is just 2gud now
What the fuck is up with this guy's gun?
>
played like a fucking fiddle
nigger this is explained like right after the 2nd mission. the council was afraid of the aliums and made a deal with them for unity. give them xcom and then they can get all that alium tech
>mon fucking visage when I have two Deadeye shadowstrike rangers
But I don't want to be a degenerate. Why, Firaxis? Why?
It gives a massive hack boost after a proving ground project. Also pretty cathartic.
Plus, being able to run up and instakill officers with the potential of some intel on the side is pretty sweet.
>lol no you need x building
>build x building
>lol no you need x materials x time
>acquire materiels & waste time
>lol too late
Really? I mean, I'm not even far in, and I just feel as though I'm being fucked over here.
I might just start again... any advice for building & research progression order?
Just bought xcom and will play xcom2 when it goes on sale because I'm a massive faggot so is a monk class archetype exists in this game or I should fuck off back to shadowrun also can I create generics?
Why would you waste time resources and lives on one commander anyway? I'm not the only mother fucker who can command people. They weren't even sure I was going to live. Xcom 2 Bradford is full retard.
firaxis has action figure syndrome, however now it's worse because they made the character models more realistic but kept the guns the same spess mahrine hueg shit
need a mode that decreases the size of all the guns by like 40%~
all this shit and what ended up happening is my sniper got squad sight on the macguffin and killed it in 2 shots. Cue 20 turns of trying to get everyone back on the fucking avenger while 60 buses full of advent faggots fall out of the sky
>implying you aren't the spider
Come on honey
>Checking out my starting rookies
>Find this smug fucker
Had a right laugh about him apparently making it into XCOM.
>so is a monk class archetype exists in this game or I should fuck off back to shadowrun also can I create generics
what the fuck? What kind of game do you think xcom is?
your post is very confusing
Gunslingers are fucking broken.
Have some buddies along to tear away armor, and a gunslinger with the proper ammo can solo pretty much anything other than a Codex, Andromedon or Sectopod.
xcom was failing without the commander. they were at their last rope with their last men. it was a last second asspull from being completely eradicated. not saying it's a great story but it makes sense.
Is it possible to change the size of your squad in Xcom 2?
One could assume that the guy who was picked to run XCOM, an organization staffed by the best of the best, would have the best commander you can find, and a good commander is something the resistance really fucking needs.
Clearly the aliens knew that too since they were running combat simulations in your brain that was training the Advent soldiers.
>shotgun and a sword
My favorite combo
It's pretty much lolrng stop doing stupid shit you stupid fuck and lrn2manage your resources from looking at the threads when xcom came out
Don't worry, they can become even more horrific in the mid / late game.
>pods full of aliens that take forever to kill (Andromedons, Sectopods)
>you still have 8 turns to power through it all
It's a wonderful kind of hell.
mate this is a squad tactics game with a strategy layer, not a turn based RPG or something
the ranger can spec to use a machete, thats close I guess?
Dude's already working on it, he's expecting it to be done by 2017.
Also he didn't get the rights because Harebrained and Microsoft are Jews so he renamed it to something else to be "Not Shadowrun".
One of my rangers got that ability that gives you a guaranteed hit for like, 3 ammo.
Being able to oneshot aliens from across the map with a crit boosted shotgun is funny as fuck.
oh yea pic related took more than an hour because my ace sharpshooter missed 3 90%'s in a row and naded the squad when he panicked
>Not knowing the Thin Men were Snakemen all the way back in EU
>OH GOD, WHAT IF THEY ARE FACELESS
>Throwing the grenade at shapes in the heat of the moment
>Accidently fumbled the grenade
God anon, lacking imagination is one of symptoms of autism. You might want to get that checked out.
You're not far in enough.
ADVENT HP scales surprisingly well, and the later game aliens are really good at drawing out their deaths.
>Codex's need to be killed in one hit or will clone
>Andromedons need to be killed twice because fuck you
The game actually has a really nice difficulty curve on Commander.
Alright, alright. Enough re-making other characters and real life people.
SHOW ME YOUR OCs /vg/!
Here is Calorus 'Lucky' Adolphus (Because I'm a faggot and like Sabaton)
He's a Swedish man who fought in the First War, rumored to have been the last man out of the X-Coms HQ because he refused to let the base fall to the ayys
He is the defecto team leader, and get his nick from his out standing fucking luck. Having sprinted through over watched ADVENT soldiers several times without getting hit.
you can sword attack over some half covers, and you can choose the angle at which they attack so if you know no one is going to be aiming at him next turn its fine
I still agree with you though, it should deal more damage without having to allocate all those promotion points into it.
>first defense mission
>totally overwhelmed by the amount of ayyliens the game is throwing my way
>get all my guys in overwatch without taking more than 2 steps forward from their spawn
>activate pods when everyone is set up
>it's a massacre
>slowly move forwards while ayylien transports are setting down left and right, kill troops as they disband
>finally destroy the fucking spike which had set down INSIDE a building somehow, had to blow said building up so i could take potshots at it without leaving highground
33 fucking turns, but everyone except a rookie made it. My resolve was thoroughly tested on this one.
I've had better results just shotgunning problems away until the Ranger gets bladestorm / Reaper. Up until then, using the blade is generally a liability.
They become top tier for retaliation missions and become quite good in cleaning up the messes Grenadiers make.
Posts like these are why I always stop "hunt the avenger" Dark Events above all else.
I'm fucking terrified that I'm going to miss one because I don't bother to expose the hidden event.
>Gotta kill or extract enemy VIP
>One of my A-Team is injured so I bring a Rookie
>Rookie is 1 tile away from VIP gets shot and panics
Maybe you should just stay on the avenger from now on.
>accuracy percentage typically above 75%
>always have men in full cover
>breaking LOS like a motherfucker
>abusing explosives as much as possible
>getting my ass thoroughly beat
Holy hell. Only done 2 missions but so far this is really unexpectedly hard.
>Commander, whose going to stand in for Anon!? We need him!
>Don't worry, my child, I'm sending Richard in in Anons place.
>The entire team starts panicking
If you're asking for an either or, I prefer Implacable. It lets you pull off some flanks you otherwise wouldn't be able too, or lets you get into position to pull off another flank.
It provides a lot of flexibility, which I really value. Bladestorm only really helps keep angry bugs and Andromedons away.
Is there a mod for 2 that changes the text "aliens" and "enemies" to Ayy?
>Need to stop the Advent timer holy shit
>Half my team is disabled from injuries
>If I don't infiltrate the ADVENT forge literally right now I'm going to fail
>Half my squad are rookies
Wish me luck boys
>Mfw the Codex is pretty fucking crazy, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
Implacable is like hit and run except it doesnt allow you to shoot twice. Since hit and run is one of the best skills in long dong, i would recommend implacable. Bladestorm is like a really shitty version of the 4 tile reaction ability in long dong. A really shitty version.
The timer feels really constricting at first, but there is something fun about barely marking it out of the mission zone by the skin of your teeth
A friend, he's gonna hug you good.
>tfw running from enemy reinforcements to get teh VIP to extraction and your last soldier evacs on the last turn
I'm always a sucker for those sort of missions where it gets down to the fucking wire
I think my only issue is I CAN'T GET ANYTHING FUCKING DONE
I don't mean that in a bad way... I think?
But everyday I get a new alert telling me I have a new mission that needs doing some where.
Seriosuly I just want to make contact with a cell in Inid- oh theres a supply raid? Well alright.
Alight now to make contac- oh there are new recruits chilling in Aisa? Okay.
Okay good, now onto that radio thi- oh ADVENT built Avatar base? Well shit I better get a move on with this con- they build another one? what the shit?
>mfw they joined another pod to form a 5 man rape squad
my rangers are doing 12 dmg + stunning any enemy within sprint range, good to have 2 blade rangers instead of one to take down big aliens like the faceless guys in one go guaranteed
>Rope falls from the Sky Ranger for the last guy
>ADVENT all over the place
>BLERGAL GURGAL ROCK TOC!
>I'd love to stay and chat aayys, but my ride is here.
>Flicks his cigar at them as he is hoisted up
FUCK ME HOLY SHIT
NO NO NO NO NO WHAT THE FUCK
Only way it could get better is if they used gasoline to let the cigar make a calling card out of fire.
