Am I the only one that actually WANTS to fail first few campaigns? I will be disapointed if I win first C/I
I have never seen such bullshit like this before.
>Advent stun baton trooper turn
>He fucking SLIDES through a wall to attack my specialist 7 tiles away
>The overwatch that was covering the specialist activates AFTER the stun tropper attacks with his baton
>The trooper then teleports 6 tiles back with his 1 remaining health, but now is for no discernible reason LITERALLY ON FIRE
>He then moves to full cover to the left of my specialist and then shoots my grenadier through a doorway and full cover, killing him
So when you try to customize things like "attitude" while in the campaign, its blocked out and says "get more experience to unlock this option".
What does this mean? Do I have to progress further in the campaign to get more customization options?
Scripts are literally hanging for, like, ten to sixty seconds between actions for me despite my framerate being fine. Anyone else got this?
I do the tutorial and it tells me go here, I click there, the dude goes and then I have to wait eleventy billion hours before it tells me to do anything else.
>he bought into the gunslinger meme
>he doesn't rain instagib death from rooftops
I sure wish I was playing XCOM instead of verifying the cache for the second time today because the game crashes whenever one of my soldiers tries to shoot.
TFTD is quite literally a glorified palette swap. It added absolutely nothing to the genre or the series except tedium and game-breaking bugs. It wasn't even made by the original developers.
It's the same shit we bash Asscreed and Call of Battlefield for each year nowadays. What is there to like? What is there to call "great"?
Oh crikey, an OG XCOM grognard! Damn, i got to get a picture of this. Wow, i thought your kind was extinct.
Now, please tell how shit the new games are. It's only fancy graphics, right? No substance?
So is there anyway to tell if a civ is a faceless before getting literally fucked? Just got one shot because of that shit
TFTD is worth it to learn pain. Nigh invincible aliens through lobstermen who are invulnerable to explosives. One tile sized cyberdisks through Bio-Drones. Flying Crysalids through Tentaculats.
TFTD does not forgive.
my gameplay is completely fluid on high graphics, BUT switching from base to the map, or deploying on a mission freezes my frame for at least 20 seconds. Usually 1-3 times during that transition animation.
Any way to fix that? It's REALLY aggravating to play.
Yes I know that you daft prat, I just didn't know they could phase through solid matter while powersliding, teleport, spontaneously combust and take 3 moves and two attacks in one turn.
Sick crits can be yours.
All you have to do is post "Thanks EXALT Initiate"
>Rapid Fire has no cooldown and takes 2 shots even if the first one misses
>Chain Shot has a 4-turn cooldown and doesn't take a second shot if the first one misses
why does chain shot even exist.
Reposting for your Performance;
This definitely helps the game run a lot better; there are still some issues, I'm sure improvements could be made as it's nearly 3 years old now, but it will help.
Some missions types, namely extract/escort stuff, have a set amount of turns (12) in which you have to get everything done.
Other missions have a turn limit (6-8) in which you have to interact with something, but afterwards can take your time with the mopping up.
Rest of the mission types, (Blacksite, terror, ufo boarding etc) don't have a limit.
For some reason, though, it has caused immense asspain among scrublords.
>wasn't a pussy with overwatch during EW
>perfectly fine with the turn limits in XCOM 2
>feels like a much better paced game now
He got captured to save the VIP and the sharpshooter from overwatch fire
I'll save you some day, Flores
You deserve better
Even if you did panic and gunned down a rookie
>getting mad because not everyone is as dumb as you to spend more than $500 on a computer
>my 4 guys positioned on a roof
>locked car with the prisoner on the road
>robot guy grenades us
>1 instantly dead
>1 dies from falling
>remaining two panicked
>3 turns left
I seem to really suck at this game.
I would've preferred a soft limit like in Invisible Inc, where every few turns, alert level increases, which spawns more guards and obstacles.
>first blacksite mission
>3rd difficulty (can't remember the name)
>few sergeants, rest corporals (not sure if I went too early)
>doing good, stealthed around a turret and took out three pods without taking a hit
>put one soldier little bit in front, everything is OK
>put one next to him
>triggers pod with mech and 2 soldiers
>mech fucking flanks me and then nukes me (this lost me mission IMO)
>start loosing soldiers left and right
>only 3 soldiers left, move my specialist into flank position
>fucking turret above it, good thing it cannot fire under itself
>specialist gets mind controlled and runs into turret's firing range
>mfw Firaxis cannot into difficulty
>a girl I'm hitting on asks what I'm doing this weekend
shit, why now
quick, what do I tell her?
There is one soft increase.
When you accomplish your objective in certain maps, reinforcements will soon arrive somewhere along the path to evac. If you can't handle another pod, that is your cue to move faster or get bogged down as your real time limit ticks down.
Just a reminder if you can't finish timed missions with at least 1-3 turns left, can't successfully ambush a pod and wipe it out on activation, and can't handle Stun Lancers, Chrysalids, and have more than five troops dead on anything under legendary then you are garbage and should just set it to cinematic easy mode or refund the game because there is no hope for you.
I played Commander Ironman on my first playthrough until I felt comfortable and had a sense for research and buildings, lost two guys in three months and then restarted into Legendary Bronzeman.
You all have no excuse for being shitty.
>Sneaking and being stealthy all around the map
>Get to main building unspotted
>Ranger on the bottom floor, 4 people on the roof
>Just chilling, watching Viper squad outside and a Mech squad inside patrol.
>Suddenly Mech animations go apeshit
>Mech goes vertical all the way through the roof for 1 tile and down again
>Enough to spot my exposed roof team
>Viper squad kills one of my Grenadier outright from flanking spot
>Use my turn to kill the Viper squad with the 3 on the roof while Ranger kills an Advent downstair
>Mech goes full alpha, blows up the roof tiles my roof team is standing
>Full health all of them. 3 dmg from grenade, 2 dmg from fall. 2 more people die.
>One magnificent son of a bitch survives with 2 hp
>When going through the roof, he got sight on a third Sectoid pod
>It's now 1 Ranger and a 2 health Grenadier vs 3 Advent troops, 1 Sectoid and 1 Mech
>Manage to survive and escape with vial with them both.
This was one of the best and worst XCOM moments I've had in ages.
So is the speaker actually part of the plot? or is he just some weird Huey motherfucker who jerks off ethereals on international television
Oh okay thanks I didn't even know what I clicked on
>mfw watching all these homos who, for some reason, insist on trying to shotgun targets with shit results when they could be having JACK LET 'ER RIP
>Complete hearsay, but one of the LW devs was chatting in Beagle's stream last night, and mentioned that this wasn't a simple INI change and would require adjustments to the mission scripts using the dev kit
Could be a while before the turn limit removal, might be a feature of the new Long War whenever that happens.
Why is the LoS so utterly fucked in this? Units are drawing LoS through solid walls frequently and I just shot a dude in the room below me by firing through the floor.
Yes, I know how peeking works.
Get a load of this whipped cuck. Playing through the release weekend and moving collectively forward with your /xcg/ brethren happens only once.
You can pork some skank whenever.
>wanting to remove turn limits
Has anyone used a Russian VPN key?
How did it go?
I like the idea of them, but I think a small adjustment would be good, just one or two turns.
Course that does go both ways, I've seen people say the current ones are too lenient, so modding the limit to be harsher is also going to take a while.
Flashbangs and Psi ops exist for a reason. You don't always have to sword it, of course, but there are times when it's clearly the best option and yet some fags insist on trying to shoot.
I think I got stuck.
Its impossible to destroy a beacon before time runs off.
There are 3 pods
>1st 1adv officer/2adv troops
>then 3x sectoids few tiles further
>and in that house where beacon is , you can find snek + 2 adv troopers
I tried to rush with my ranger but i need 3 turns to destroy it and snek immidiately jumps and snaps around my ranger.
Would you make a mec out of Bradford?
Nigga flashbangs are the fucking GOAT. Remove overwatch, remove pectoid psi shenanigans, generally debuff active defense shit. They are especially good in early game when you have otherwise limited options in dealing with stuff.
So you are able to afford a computer that can run this game but you can't shell out 60 or so dollars to support the developers? Seems legit. I bought the game and my toaster can't even play it. I have to wait for tax returns...
>commander wakes up
>your in a big ass ship heading towards an ayylien planet
>shen, vahlen, and bradford are there
>commander kills himself from the crippling ptsd, stress and nightmares every night
Pistol is only effective at close range. Only good for finishing off really weak units or just ofr giving the sniper something to overwatch when they move to a good cover. (Hunker down might be better if cover is poor)
Deadeye seems pretty essential in this game since enemy health ramps up fast.
>Alien victory imminent
>8 days to go
>estimated retaliation strike in 1 week
>this mission pops up
Enemy unknown in the shadow chamber list
How dead am I anons?
Playing on commander
>tfw the bullshit melee move from the fog of war misses
Holy shit I was scared for a second there
How heavily teched up should I be before hitting the first Blacksite? I'm playing on Commander/Ironman and that mission keeps breaking me. Everything else until that point is fine, but I can't get further ahead.
Right now I've been hitting it with a 5-strong team with Mag weapons and a few special ammo types from the Proving Ground. Should I just ignore the Avatar count and leave the Blacksites until I've got a full squad with level two weapons and armour?
Rip in pepperoni my sweet soldiers,
you will be missed.
Lost most my best marksman last mission, the only replacement is a sgt thats gone full gunslinger.
>game with MASS EFFECT Graphics is FRYING my GTX 980 Ti
None of these next gen graphic games stress my GPU this much
Glad to see missions protecting civilians are still fucking broken as shit. HURR DURR EVERY CIVILIAN IS IN ONE ROOM ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE MAP AND REFUSE TO MOVE :^) Game is fine. I don't give a shit about the timers as they leave more than enough time but that fucking god damn horseshit should have been fixed or outright removed. And its not "git gud" when rng is a fucking cunt like that. They need to actively run towards xcom troops. I'm just glad they didn't throw a grenade because they were all on the second floor of the building in one room.
Ok, gonna start my second run. In order to not get fucked in the ass by the Avatar project i should build the gorilla school and try to kill as many blacksites as i can as soon as possible right?
It was going just fine; we were just about to finish up.
Suddenly a fucking Sectoid/Stun Lancer duo happened. They worked together and wiped my entire fucking squad. It was unreal.
it's been a while since i last played a game with a visuals:performance relationship this bad
holy fuck this game penalizes the shit out of you for getting close to enemies during concealment.
if you can't kill the ENTIRE pod when activating it from concealment, they will flank you and lolcrit you every time guaranteed due to their 3 turn bullshit.
Have you thanked The Elders today?
Please reply with "Thank you, Elders." and you will receive good luck and will ascend to the stars.
An extra 2-3 turns would be ideal. And a larger pool of civvies on retaliation missions (the original 20 instead of 13) would be merciful. Only played one so far, but god it was crushing.
>TFW I have the detonator of a plasma grenade rigged up to my dick
do I go mag weapons right away? 19 days
Honestly (and this is going to sound dumb), I'd only want it if it was an official patch.
I suppose the reasoning is Firaxis comes out and says they messed up the balance, instead of my admitting to myself that I m casul.
>Finish mission mission entirely with rangers and grenades
>Hit percentage labeled ---
Is this my racism talking, or is Caucasian E the only conventionally attractive female face?
Also, wouldn't it be nice if you could add recently killed soldiers to the character pool?
Not really. The geoscape layer is significantly more involved than EU/EW, enemies and your squad have more active abilities, mission structure is different and it's a fair bit more difficult than vanilla EU/EW.
retaliation missions. they go into your bases and start killing your dudes.
also if you see a ufo flying around its a mission where they shoot you down and you have to disable their devices to take off again. you keep getting reinforcements every few rounds. once the device is down you can take off any time, stranding soldiers left.
Is it not f1 like last time?
Haven't checked, myself.
Man, you should see some of the randomly generated rookie faces the game's trying to saddle me with.
>won't hire a perfectly good rookie because she has a mustache and seems to be balding.
I tried my usual strategy from XCOM EW where I'd medkit an injured unit before completing the mission, but in XCOM 2 it seems like if they were injured and you medkit them they still need to stay in the medbay to recover. It didn't alter how long they would stay in either, so I think it's based on how low their HP went.
i keep trying to bring it up. why the fuck would you remove that?
Trying to make a squad of waifus is hard when the choices are
>b) Some Bitches Be Ugly
I would have rough sex with that man.
Haven't customized her at all. She'll probably have long hair.
>he doesn't have battle scared women in his party only anime grills
Pretty sure it's the latter. Get that soldier into cover and maybe rescue them later
>gave up on lagging soldier, he gets killed on the last turn because he's in the open
>mfw finding out I may have been able to get him back if I'd put him in cover
i try to leave my battle-scared operatives back at base. they keep panicking in the field
I regret the decision with the bullshit this game can pull with timers. Just because I kill all the Advent on the mission shouldn't mean they instantly get a reinforcement drop right behind the evac point..
is there anything preventing me from grinding this level forever?
i mean they gave me swords, dudes with swords and dispatch 3 grunts every turn. and they expect me to stop slaughtering them?
Haha, time for prayers.
Can your characters at least make it to the evac zone? Just get the one with most HP to trigger overwatch and hope for the best then. He/She might survive.
Sectoids are the fucking devil of early game.
>data transfer mission
>can easily stealth to objective building
>3 sectoids roaming inside and around it
>they can just instantly mind control my guys before I get them down
>can't get them down anyway because of turn limit
>their bandana is in game
So were EXALT good or bad guys?
>not having a ranger with that overwatch ignoring skill
Had to drop MSAA to FXAA and Shadows to High instead of max. Everything else on max, runs smooth on 670. I don't know what you 980 fags are doing.
exalt were semi-bad dudes. They weren't the aliums but they also wanted to get all their tech and rule the world. their mistake was fucking with xcom where they should have worked together.
yeah it's a totally different actor now.
Alright Commanders this is the situation we have. No flash grenades available only frag. Sniper in heavy cover can kill only 1 of those. People can get in evac zone in blue move but need the next move to extract.
Unless you auto extract at 0 turns in the evac point[/spoiler
What should I do?
I could try run in LZ and dodge both overwatch shots for the high risk high rewards play.
I could grenade one hope to rescue them later. This still leaves 1 on overwatch though.]
>first run iron man
>9 hours in
>did pretty badly, reached the point where I am starting to get far behind the ayys
>systemically lose one-two operative per mission
>for two months, struggling to get rookies to go beyond corporal.
>3 minutes ago, I fucked up and forgot about the roof destruction thing, muton threw the perfect nade killing 4 out of 5 of my operatives who were all at full health.
>as the perfect "fuck you", the game is stuck on an infinite loop during the alien's turn. Quitting and reloading the save won't fix it.
I have transcended beyond butthurt.
you only auto evac if all enemies are dead & no reinforcements are coming. someone ain't coming home. frag one up top with the grenade. have the ranger sword the other should be in the evac point then you can get 2 out.
>second terror mission a squad wipe
>after the first one
Lost all my best dudes, only left with 3 rookies
I had no fucking idea enemies were so quick to spam grenades now. Also fuck mutons. I feel like they should be showing up later.
>a timer to make you hurry the fuck up and stop overwatch creeping
You say this as though it's the players' fault that overwatch creeping is the default method of avoiding being slaughtered.
>implying this will give them a chance
it's literally "free exp: the level"
Is there a text file in this game that i can edit the names in the unit pool? Or do i have to create them in the character creator? Because i have a list with around 300 names and i really don't want to creat each one of them manually
Okay, i took a silent approach.
Wish me luck. (that guy is shaken but I equiped him with the mindshield thingy)
>YFW flores becomes the enemy officer
it's true I should have screen shotted it.
KANE LIVES! YOU CAN'T KILL THE MESSIAH.
>rookie misses every single 75% shot in the mission
>led to the loss of almost everyone
>fails to land an 85% shot to save himself
>call in evac right on top of my other unit
>she ropes out as he gets ripped apart by Advent bullets
Mission was still a success in my opinion. One less useless soldier using XCOM's resources.
>when you're so hype beyond hype for a game
>it runs like absolute ass even at the stupid main menu and you're forced to refund it
Fuck off Firaxis, seriously? I could run XCOM EU/EW maxed out. XCOM2 doesn't look ten times as good as EU/EW, why does it run ten times worse?
should've got an alienware computer anon.
Alright, there any fix to this weird "game is doing nothing" bug?
When the game triggers preset camera movements, objectives and so on it just falls asleep and seems to forget it was doing something while locking me out of control.
The game isn't frozen and I can control the camera and everything else but just not interact with it. Takes like 20ish seconds before it realizes it was supposed to give control back to me and then runs completely normal again. Normal gameplay is running fine, it just triggers when preset scripts are triggers. (Which is pretty much every single turn in the tutorial)
Also geez is the game harsh, sure I only did the first mission but got one of my guys oneshoted and another down to 2 HP, love it.
how do i get gud in xcom, and not lose any sponsors in EW
please help i'm new
>might as well hack this thing ang get some bonuses
>hack fails,enemies get 20% defense boost
>it wasn't the last one
>2 sectoids and a codex
>on high cover most accurate soldier has 25% chance
And that's 6 hours of progress gone,Commander
the performance makes this game literally unplayable
i've no idea what sort of overpriced goyware you need to run this at 60+ fps in 1080p
try turning FXAA off, it helped mine run much better. Although loading menus before missions (inside the dropships) still run like complete ass.
Second mission. Second fucking mission on Ironman
Is the game harder on ironman? Are they fucking with me? I played up to sneks and shapeshifters on veteran (with tutorials on) and restarted on iron man veteran only to get my shit handed to me.
no that's not what I'm saying.
Keep one or two sattelites unlaunched. Council members only leave at the end of months if they have full panic. If one has full panic right before the end of the month, launch a sattelite.
Otherwise only get as much sattelites as you can afford planes.
>no headgear better than the balaclava
my cheeki will have to stay breeki
you get a skill that gives +2 dmg or something
the first weapon upgrade increases dmg by 2
then the second weapon upgrade increases by further 2 AND gives bonus damage against robots
you also get:
>Run and Gun for that extra boost >Shadowstep which dodges Overwatch
>Untouchable which guarantees a miss on first enemy fire if you killed someone
>Don't forget about Phantom so you can get back into Concealment and be like pssh nuthen personnel aliun
Sectopods have like 20hp and 3 armor, that's before shieldfag runs up to them and drops a 3hp shield before buttfucking your rangers because you forgot to bring a sniper pick that one enemy from afar
The god among artists
and I don't even care if it has a dick
Anyone else have this issue?
>Do anything at all
>Nothing happens for about half an hour
>Eventually the script resolves and I regain control
My specs are fine. It's installed on an SSD.
Is this just because the pirate version is a piece of shit or am I missing something here?
>tfw i'll be playing that mission tonight.
>unoptimized as shit
>stutters like crazy in every menu
>framerate drops like its a fucking dubstep track
>RNG dependent gameplay, skill is mostly irrelevant
>artificial difficulty because they "patched" every good strat from the first game, basically all luck now
GOTY all years 11/10
Ok which of these are true? Ranger dodged both autos and is in evac. He can evac or stab/shoot a cunt and hope for sweet loot and an auto extraction at 0. Iron Man so can't test it.
Having the same issue >>131015906
Originally installed the game on my secondary 1TB HDD and encountered this issue, then moved it over to my SSD and still have it.
Do you like me by chance have a AMD core?
Running a GTX 570 with a AMD Phenom II X6 Black 1100T
Don't really thing that's the cause, but AMD causing issues isn't a new thing, but is usually never affects CPU'S
Re-posting because I need my XCom fix.
>Low end rig.
>Decide to pump the settings up to max for a laugh.
>Game crashes, now refuses to start.
I seriously have no idea how to fix this. Can any of you help?
well that's the thing, it works fairly quickly for about 10 minutes after starting the game, but a while later, my PC literally freeze for about 30s each time I switch between base and map.
I can't even move the mouse or tab out.
it keeps happening!
>buy steam wallet cards in local shop because game isn't there yet
>anxious as fuck to get in my laptop and buy the game
>be US$2 short because my local currency was devauled from the one i used to calculate it two days ago
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK ME FUCK MY LIFE
Any recommended .ini changes?
My game shits itself when I go to the command room.
Also: What line do I need to change to make the game only give me random asshats once my custom soldier pool is exhausted?
No not randomly, they straight up orbit towards your squad. I just had a covert squad on a roof while a patrol pulled a 180 and started fucking mountain climbing despite going in the opposite direction the turn before I spotted them.
>but you can evac with no actions left.
I've lost so many from not knowing this.
Tell it to me straight /vg/,
If I loved and got many tens of hours out of EW, will I enjoy XCOM2?
Assume I am not some absolute shitter who has to turtle in overwatch for 50 turns every mission and I also don't have a brazilian-tier computer
Ok after 2 hours GPU Vram usage reached 6 GB's and my watercooled 6700k was running 100% on all cores, and one of them even reached 68 celsius - something i haven't even seen in CPU benchmarks.
What the fuck.
Welp, I've already refunded. Don't know about any of you but this was a massive disappointment. Might pick it up for really cheap down the line with all the dlcs once its been fixed by modders, but it's current form the game is pretty disgusting.
here's the shit ass computer i'm using. you can probably run it too, i have only had problems when there's excessive fire on my screen.
as for the game if you liked enemy within you're going to love xcom 2 even more.
You won't turtle anyway since 80% of missions have timers.
Just watch a stream or something.
>caring what DLC brings when the ending literally announces
Terror From The Deep 2 Rev up them subs cause I'm ready to get buttfucked by lobstermen.
nah, chile - 1USD was like 720CLP a week ago and now it dropped to 680, so shitsux
negative on that supply drop commander, i'll buy another one next paycheck
I've got it 60 maxed on my 4670k/970, save for the ridiculous AA options.
Hell, I run it windowed borderless too.
It's not so much being ABLE to run it at that, as it is the game just generally being really inconsistent performance wise.
No trump building a wall to keep out aliens is racist aliens who kill people aren't real aliens see this alien right here he isn't killing anyone so don't say aliens kill humans these aliens are refugees fleeing violence while those women being probed is troubling the real issue is xenophobia and we just need to teach these aliens not to abduct and probe people #notallayylmaos
Maybe you demolished it accidently. More likely to be a bug though.
always good advice. the yanks have stolen enough from SA anyway
Which also naturally means having the facilities and power available to put up satellites in the first place, and having enough interceptors that your existing satellites don't get shot down.
tl;dr - Rush satellites, uplinks, power generators and Interceptors.
Don't bother doing minimum, some settings don't even impact performance at all. Might as well max out textures and surprisingly enough, shadow quality doesn't seem to change much even.
Anyone running XCOM2 on windows? I assume all of you
Can you tell me how the folders are set out in your steamapps/common/XCOM2 folder? I've almost downloaded it on linux and I'm looking to install it on windows too, and I reckon I can save it downloading cutscenes / textures / shaders / etc. twice if I copy it over
I've got a /share/data/xcomgame folder with 'movies' and some other shit in it - what do you think that corresponds to?
I ask because I've got a /bin/ /lib/ and /share/ folder in the game folder, which doesn't look windows-y at all and I don't think copying it as is will help
>Gun completely shoved in its face
>still only 65% to hit
Gave me a good laugh, thanks. : )
>that one fucker who always misses shots, no matter the chance
What's their name, /xcg/?
God damn I love how these loading screens look.
You had one fucking job you faggot and you missed overwatch.
I'm running completely different shit. AMD card and Intel core.
It must be some software issue. A dependency or the pirate version being fucked up somehow. But I just reinstalled Windows and the dependencies, Directx and Visual C++ so I dunno how they could be the problem.
>Implying cover matters to STUNNEROONIES
>Not either killing them on trigger or playing defensive with their limits in mind.
>Successful Shot Percentage - 100%
Purge the ayy.
>or the pirate version being fucked up somehow
I bought it on Steam and as you can see have the same issue, made a post about this bug on the community hub
I've played around with video setting and some other stuff, but nothing seems to affect it. From what I've experienced so far this seems to be a internal engine bug triggered by god knows what
Except it doesn't
Should I playthrough XCOM:EU before XCOM 2?
I'm not a big fan of XCOM and intended to play through 1 before eventually getting 2, but I found a really good deal so I ended up getting it day one.
>Not ambushing pods
>Not scouting ahead with a ranger
>Not clearing your way to the objective by setting up defensive traps to bait enemy pods.
>fuck you I'm right there in the open and you can't do shit to me, if you do manage to hit me, I get pissed off and my damage goes up, by the way, on my turn I'll wade right in the middle of your squad and crit someone for 13 damage.
At this point i think they'd be probably more efficient.
Does Firaxis work on weekends?
I've never understood why companies release their games at the end of the week when quite a lot of them then go home till monday.
> Rushing satellite coverage is #1 priority over everything else
> Base in Europe
> For first abduction mission - always take the engineer reward so you can start on a workshop, which will provide the engi's you need for uplinks
> Build satellite's premptively - they take twice as long as an uplink to make - so when that nigger Bradford tells you not to build one cuz you don't have an uplink yet you tell him to stfu
- "Priority" research shit is NOT priority. Research weapon frags --> laser weapons then materials --> carapace armor
> Don't do autopsies/interrogations till you get continent that makes them instantaneous
> Start on firestorms after sat coverage is done and you are getting UFO's you can't shoot down
Never get flanked, always use cover. Use grenades/rockets to destroy ayy's heavy cover or destroy ayy's. Flank when possible. Squadsight snipers always. Late game - Ghost armor on a marathon support makes scouting ez mode. Pair with squadsighted/damn good ground/double tapping snipers for more ez mode. Get disabling shot so sectopods don't wreck your shit late game.
Thankfully they're completely retarded for me, they'll fly into the open on activation and either die due to concentrated fire or live on like 2 hp but decide to air strike rather than kill someone. But it sure does suck having to invest a full turn almost into killing one.
