okay so I installed both cakes and rxtools on my o3ds and everything seems to work, most games run just fine but when I try to play either MHX or MH4U I get the "an error has occurred, turn off your 3ds" shit.

I just realized what's going on. I read that the o3ds has trouble playing certain games for some reason (Smash, MH4U, MHX). the anon posted how to fix it but I don't remember what he said, it's been weeks.

DSFlashcard, injection, or install gpsp with GBA bios. Since you have a N3DS, I recommend gpsp, since I assume you don't give a shit about the multiplayer. Download the bios, then name it something like gba_bios.bin and put it in /retroarch/cores/system and then most gba games will run very well. Gpsp might run into some problems and crash occasionally, but out of the last 8 hours or so, I've only had it crash once or twice.

So I got a new DS the other day, which came with 9.9. Got browser nagged and spent about an hour trying to get browserhax working. Finally got it after blocking nintendo's IPs, installed menuhax, got 9.2 and began my journey with sysUpdater.

Tried to run sysUpdater about 300-500 times with varying levels of success, but I only got to the actual cia upgrade process one time. And it fucking crashed halfway through.

So now I'm stuck on a system that won't boot unless I pull the SD card out. Menuhax won't boot, just gives me a black screen. Browser is still nagged but system settings says I'm on 9.2. Is there anything I can do to get out of this, or am I fucked and have to just upgrade to 10.5 and give up on my homebrew dreams?

Since I found a new way to be retarded maybe someone should put in the retard guide to remember to set your internet settings in sysNAND's system settings after unlinking NANDs.

It wouldn't be as much of a problem if menuhax manager had more accurate error messages but it just thinks something went wrong with downloading the correct payload and suggests maybe your system version is not supported. I know it's dumb as shit to not think of the internet settings but it's a guide for retards after all.

They fixed their cryptography. That shit isn't feasible breakable unless people do stupid things like Sony was in the first place using a constant while generating keys. On newer consoles this is fixed in hardware, for exploitable hw they fixed the exploits so there's no entry point.

What were you expecting, magic? No one's gonna be willing to work on bypassing in software what you can get past through just connecting a flasher and installing older fw. Cracking newer consoles? Sony spent lots of effort closing down their platform again, it's unrealistic to think anyone will find a way past their new defences.

Okay, I want you to try something.

The reason why your 3DS blackscreens when you boot with your SD card is because it's trying to load MenuHax on 9.2 with 9.9 files. You can fix this by changing your theme (which will remove menuhax), HOWEVER if you do that you won't be able to get back into the homebrew menu (unless you have OOT3D and a powersaves),

So, copy this ropbin file onto your sd card, and delete the ropbin file that was already on the sd card previously (but make sure you keep the exact filename of it somewhere, just in case) .


Also, before I give you the correct ropbin, is your 3DS a N3DS or O3DS?

NTSC-U o3DS with rxTools
PAL OoT3D game cart (literally a sealed launch copy, if that makes a difference)

I am thinking of purchasing a PAL n3DS and am hoping I can use the above to downgrade it if the console is above 9.2.

Can I put the PAL cart into the NTSC-U o3DS, install the hack on the cart and then put it into a PAL n3DS and get homebrew access?

I have no idea what terrible guide you followed, but you should be at 4.3 anyway. Disc updates are still a thing. If you want to not have to worry about that, you should have had Priiloader installed and set to block updates. With disc games you're still going to have the updates stored to the disc. If you're prompted to update, it means you're missing ios files contained in the update. As far as the rare "this game needs an update" message you'll find on Wii, it's fine to install game updates.

tl;dr Yes, you're still going to be prompted to update if you're on a lower firmware and do not have the correct ios system files installed. Just block updates and install the files you need. Google and Wiihacks are your best resources for this.

1) Backup the "boot.3dsx" file on your SD card

18) That's it!; Now you have menuhax back and working like normal.

Thanks, the guide i followed never even mentioned holding reset would let me edit and patch shit to block disk/system updates, it works now. but fuck I guess I followed a shit guide, ended up going to wiihacks and reinstalling proper wads/ios updates.

Alright I'm on the following steps below (sorry for copying so much shit but I'm not smart enough to explain it), however I don't have rxTools and haven't been using that this entire time, only things I'm using are ReiNAND, EmuNAND, FBI and menuhax afaik.

I'm getting the error where when I try to boot into EmuNAND to update (After doing the NAND unlink shit), it just cycles me back to ReiNAND's purple boot screen. Is there an equivalent fix of what's listed below since I'm not using this rxTools thing?


"1) Turn on the console and get into the menuhax (by default, hold L when booting)
2) Select rxTools BUT DO NOT ENTER MENUHAX. This means that you shouldn't be holding the menuhax trigger (default is L) while rxTools loads. If you changed the menuhax settings, you need to make sure you are NOT activating menuhax when you enter rxTools.
3) You should now boot into your emuNAND as normal
4) While in emuNAND, change your theme to disable menuhax (the specific theme does not matter)

Depending on how you performed the unlinking it will be quite a hassle.
Also, when it asks you how to perform the card contents transfer, DO NOT CHOOSE PC. YOU MUST DO AN OVER THE AIR TRANSFER.

I did it over PC and now I must wait 2 weeks to be able to transfer everything right because the reboot when it finishes the system transfer doesn't finish right if you choose PC transfer.
And I can't unlink my nnid account from the 3ds I preformed the system transfer to and use the nnid on the system I transfered out of to try it again. I must transfer the nnid back to the 1st system and then wait 7 days(AGAIN) to perform everything right.

Anyways when you perform it, please write an update about how it went as I'm very interested in knowing if these steps are the right ones.

Yes, that should be fine. Even with errors, most shit usually just works. There will be fine tuning you'll need to do for individual games. You'll just need to search for solutions when the time comes. Region free is harmless but most games are patched to region free anyway. The warning is so that dumb people don't brick their Wii. The hard part is finding games now that bitgamer and Hippyfreak are dead, but I've found some tough ones. My advice is to get a Romulation account right now and idle the hell out of it (like, just don't download anything) so you can accumulate download points. Romulation is slow as shit but they have literally every game I've looked for.

Okay so I'm trying to access the homebrew menu from the browser but it keeps freezing on yellow ,then random colors, then I see some code I think and then theres nothing and the bottom screen is red. Any ideas?

For sliderhax you have to tap the most right side pixel of the slider without touching inside of the slider.

ok, something happened with my menuhax...

i put an image display on the folder 3ds/ menuhaxmanager and it didnt display on my 3ds so, i went into the manager, and choose the option to set the image, but when i restarted my 3ds, it kicked me back to sysnand, i cant enter emunand.

does anyone know why?

So my system just failed to update. Any possible reasons why? I did it from the emuNAND. I'm on RXTOOL 9.2 and I have an old3ds.
