If you already have AS installed then use any save manager and extract the save, then if you want to inject it back to another game you will have to patch it with the new secure value. There is a tool to do that, is pretty easy.

Delete/rename your theme extdata folder for EmuNAND. \Nintendo 3DS\emunandgarbage\moregarbage\extdata\000002cc (can be 2cd or 2ce for other region 3DS)
If you delete the wrong one it'll fuck up your Menuhax install, just move it to your desktop or something and try the other folder if you fucked up.

rxTools does 10.4 fine on O3DS, the reason you're running into problems is (probably) because you had Menuhax/Shufflehax installed on 10.2 or 10.3 before.

What games are people playing on their 3DS? The library seems pretty overrated desu.

Hi /hbg/ I'm a long time lurker and I haven't really asked for help here in the past with 3ds homebrew, I just followed all the tutorials and figured this shit out, but I've been gone for a couple days and when 10.4 released so I have a few questions. I understand that I should read the pastebin first, but I feel like I've gotten mixed info from some people in the past couple of threads and I'd like to clear some things up.

1. I have an O3DS running 10.3 and rxtools, and I have my NNID linked to it and updated some games before 10.4 was released. Is 10.4 safe to upgrade to? Will it fuck my shit up?

2. My friend wants to be a pirate vicariously through me and have me install homebrew on his 3ds, and get him some games. He has a 2DS running 10.2. Is it possible to downgrade, and what guide would I have to follow to accomplish this task?

I tried installing a CFW on my old 3DS XL. Everything went great until it wanted me to install rxTools. But as soon as it launches I get the "failed to load native firm: 4" error. I didn't unlink my sysNAND and emuNAND yet but I did downgrade to 9.2 successfully.

But now I'm truly confused how to progress further. Which guide should I follow right now because there are like 1000's of them on various forums.

TL:DR I'm looking for a guide to install CFW on a old 3DS XL version 9.2 with linked emunand and sysnand.

All you need is four very thin wires (cut open some cat5 cable or something), a microSD to SD adapter, and an SD to USB adapter. You open your 3DS (watch some disassembly videos on YouTube for confidence) and then solder the four wires to the points shown in >>129475062
Then break open the microSD to SD adapter and solder the other ends of the four wires to their respective pins (also shown in the links above). Turn on your 3DS and you should see an error. Plug the wired up SD card into your SD to USB adapter and use win32diskimager to write NAND.bin to it. Then your 3DS should work again, and you may as well give downgrading another crack at that point because now you've got a hard mod and are invincible.

If you did update to 9.8 but can't find an exploit to install a browser CIA or retry the downgrade, go ahead and just update to 10.4 and send it back for refund, or just update it to 10.4 and wait for new exploits.

personally, i don't recommend updating past 9.2 because i don't think there's a need for it when nearly everything is available on 9.2 anyway.

but then there's no reason not to, either. you don't really gain or lose anything as far as i know, so it doesn't really matter as long as it doesn't break your system. but generally, i advise not updating unless you have a reason to.

i think you'll restore eshop access if it's ever shut off, but that's about it. i'd just sit on 10.3 if you don't need anything on 10.4.

It's not hard. If you can hold a pencil you can solder. You don't need to use a lot of solder for small points like the ones on the 3ds. So you just plug in the soldering iron, touch a bit of solder to the tip of the iron (called "tinning" it), and then briefly touch the tip of the iron and the wire to the solder point. Then you're done.

Look for a hackerspace near you and they'll help you out.
