I played for 1000 hours and never heard of such a restriction. Unless you're talking about the """""""competitive""""""""" scene which made smash seem like it kept a lot of the game available and had rules very similar to that one kid that said no hadokens.
As for the lack of variety, in theory it was because they didn't want many duplicates that filled the same role, so weapons were kept to a minimum to make balance easier.

The game is somewhat bland to begin with, and not only is movement tech mostly unexplained, 90% of the community doesn't even know about it. It's one of those: "When you play it for a while it gets good" games, but I hate most games with that description so you can play it or not play it, as most of the game left with the community as some movement tech is now lost forever along with half the people playing being potatoes that never git gud.
If you do play, the key to winning is to be on the ground as little as possible

MW2 released and was a huge step in a specific direction (run and gun all the time) and since then every game has dumbed down further, or pushed into that specific gameplay.

BO3 has none of these. This is the first CoD I've played ever. I tried MW but didn't like it but I tried this one. I gotta say this is the most fun I've ever had in my life. I tried advanced warfare after playing Nlack ops 3 but it was meh.

Keep in mind I'm 26 and I stupidly dismissed call of duty multiplayer despite being an FPS fan. This was due to getting wrecked any time I tried it 1-23 avg and gave up soon. But this game, THIS GAME, I tried it, got wrecked and STILL had fun. It never ceases to entertain me to see kids come here with webms like that then piss and moan about it. Like yesterday there was a guy who posted a webm of jumping down off of a wall run and shooting about 6-7 bullets to the left of a target then letting go of the trigger as the reticle passes over the body then shoots a couple more bullets to the right before getting killed, then he blamed lag. Of the 2-3 seconds he spent in that engagement only about .25 seconds was actual time on target, and that's when he stopped shooting.

I'm not even that hot on the series but I do find it funny how everyone wants it to fail yet it never does. Each year people say "this'll be the one" where the sales start dropping and yet they don't, and usually they only get higher.
